How can you not like a place that cures their own bacon and infuses tons of dishes with pork? I have visited three times here for three different reasons.
1). I did a Port City beer tasting dinner. The chefs got creative and hit on 4 of the 5 dishes. And the beer flowed and flowed. They put on the best beer dinner I have been to.
2). I went to get Hopslam on tap. And I was able to get three pints of it...amazing, but probably a little overboard. I ordered an amazing appetizer there: Bacon on a stick. It is as simple as delicious.
3). I had an internet first date there. It was then that I realized that the beer selection isn't too big. It is a quality selection, with a rotating Bell's seasonal and Port City offering. But I struggled to find a beer I really wanted at that time.
Overall, a really nice place. A good bar area on the side, great location, good food. I look forward to going again.

nicer place with a modern interior, the bar area is a nice place to hang but gets a bit trendy and loud on the weekends, no issues with the dining room
draft list tends to be around 7 items, usually quality but containing readily available stuff that probably won't excite the average beer nerd, good bottle selection though - nearly 70 items encompassing the whole spectrum, arranged into regions as well as a nice list of Belgians, the list may occasionally include a surprise or two as I found with Hopslam awhile back
enticing food menu with a distinct, upscale Southern lean, went with the chicken and waffles and was not disappointed but not really impressed either
service was very attentive
solidly on the pricey side, but happy hour is the solution if beer is what you're after

Dropped in with my family on a Monday evening. The place was pretty empty at 6:00ish, but more than half full by the time we left after 7:00. Very contemporary design, with the bar area looking far more attractive than the dining room. We sat outside. Food menu is interesting, with an emphasis on fish, but quite expensive (especially when you note that the main dishes come without sides, and those cost $6.00 a piece extra. The grouper I had was a bit undercooked, but tasty enough.
The beer BOTTLE selection is impressive - upwards of 40 varieties from across the country and a handful of imports. The tap list was a bit paltry compared to other places in the area. Seven offerings, one of which was wasted on Stella Artois. Pretty good geographic variety on the other offerings, from Colorado (Polestar Pilsner) to Delaware (DFH 60 Minute). Bell's Oberon, Sam Adams Seasonal (Summer Ale this time), and Dale's Pale Ale were also on the list. The waitstaff seemed to know what they were talking about. Overall, an OK place that would have had me doing cartwheels in Vienna or Moscow, but for Clarendon, falls a bit short.
