750ml bottle - thanks to iguenard for this

Appearance - Burgundy colour with a very small size fizzy off-white coloured head. There is a low amount of carbonation and there isn't much lacing. The head lasted for around 1 minute.

Smell - Cherries, citric, wood

Taste & Mouth - There is a below average amount of carbonation and I can taste tart cherries, citric notes, and some wood. There was also a bit of a chalkiness to it and a bit of funk. It ends with a chalky dry aftertaste.

Overall - It has some promise but it seems like something is just not quite right with this beer. There is an odd taste to it that keeps it from being something worth having again.

Bottle: Poured a reddish color ale with a small foamy head with some retention and light lacing. Aroma of oak with tart cherries notes and some red vinegar notes. Taste is similar to a mix between a Flanders red and red vinegar with some good tart cherries and oak notes though somewhat offset by too much acidity. Body is about average for style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. I have tasted worse from this brewer but still too much acidity for my taste.

Batch 1; 368 of 372; 9.5% abv; bottled 8/12/11

Reddish, light brown color. Cloudy. Good lasting head which leaves some chunky lace.

Interesting smell that reminds me of a lambic/framboise...lots of sourness with a strong, dry raspberry. Attractive.

The taste matches the aroma, leaning closer to the neutral lambic. Naturally tart with a extra dry malt base. Relatively thin bodied with a above average level of carbonation. Long lasting sour aftertaste. Interesting, if one dimensional.

Pours a slightly hazy deep reddish brown color with a decent beige cap that dissipates to a cap and leaves minimal lace. Smells of tart fruits, cherry, lemon, with lots of lactic and funky aromas wafting out of the glass. Taste is tart with lots of lemon and sour cherries with hints of brown sugar and caramel before the flavor dries my mouth out. Medium body and level of carbonation with a tart almost candy sugar like mouthfeel. This smells funkier than it tastes, but it drinks great. Nice mix of tart and sweet without being over the top funky. Nice job.

From a bottle, this is probably the rarest bottle I've had, and it came greatly anticipated. Pour was a fairly clear light gold yellow with pretty much no head. Some interior carbonation. Nose is mild and soft, light grains, subtle brett, stone fruit, a tad sea salt. Soft, soft in the mouth. Very light peach, light cereal grains, very good oak and a light funk, a touch sour. This was all about subtlety and it was well done. Not particularly dry or sour, just barely, and barely fruity, just enough oak. Carbonation almost nil. Reminded me a bit of an unblended lambic though not nearly as sour. A green apple thing started to take hold as it opened. I enjoyed this, probably a bit better than Indomitus and completely different. I just wish it was more effervescent.
