On tap at the Ruddy Duck

A - clear, medium dark brown. Light enters and escapes, but on the dark side for sure. Very small but persistent head that lingered. Respectable lacing. 

S - slight roasted oats and malt. Bitter chocolate and coffee. Nose is not strong but pretty on par with expectations given the name. 

T - taste follows the nose. All the flavor is on the front end and vanishes too quickly. Low carbonation. The weak coffee flavor persists beyond all else.  Very akin to drinking old, slightly burned cold coffee. The chocolate struggles to be heard and is much more present on the nose sadly. 

M - far too light for a porter. I want my porters to grab ahold and coat my mouth. This one goes down smooth but not in a good way. 

O - my experience with porters may be skewed by some truly amazing ones, but this offering is sadly just too mild. Perhaps for someone who doesn't like "dark" beers it might succeed, but for its style it's a let down. Had hoped for more of an oat presence and there was virtually none. More of a straight American porter and a tame one at that.
