On tap at Les Brasseurs du Temps in Gatineau, QC.
This one pours a slightly hazy dark brown color, with a small head, and a bit of lacing.
This one smells like caramelized sugar, toffee, bananas, cloves, vanilla, and breadiness.
This is great. It approaches barleywine-ish territory, with big caramel and toffee tones, and a nice sweet breadiness, along with a crisp wheat thing that keeps it balanced. There's a hint of banana, and a bit of vanilla creaminess. The weizen esters are definitely toned down a bit here in favor of big malt richness.
This is medium bodied, and surprisingly crisp and clean, with a great level of drinkability. There is really no hint of the higher ABV here.
I rarely ever see doppleweizenbocks on beer menus anywhere, so this was great to find. It's a plus that it was actually good, too.

Caramel, toadt, banana. Heavy as you would expect. Very little head.

At bottle share, Coopers, Chelsea, NYC. Just a few sips was all I needed to see this was a really, really well made brew. I failed to keep detailed notes but of the 18 or so bottles, a majority were Canadian, this was one of the 3 most outstanding. If you see it treat yourself, I know I will.

A:
Pours a cloudy reddish brown with an ample tan head that ends up as a fairly thorough film. Okay retention; spots and splotches of lacing everywhere. (3.75)
S:
Boozy, yeasty, and wheaty. Ripe bananas are really at the forefront with cloves, vanilla, rum, leather, caramelized sugars. (4.25)
T:
Sweet and smooth. Doughy layers of banana, dried cherries, cocoa powder, cloves, leather. Delicious. (4)
M:
Rich and smooth with medium body, extremely well-hidden alcohol, a slow, lingering, delicate finish. Very good. (4.25)
O:
Delicious weiss bier.
This is a very well-made beer with a lot going on. It definitely piqued my curiosity about these guys. The other beer I had by them was pretty solid as well and they seem to have a nice brewpub that I may have to visit soon.
It looks pretty nice, smells like banana bread, and tastes sweet, smooth, and warm. It has a nice, delicate feel and is quite drinkable for as boozy as it is.
Would certainly have again; well worth trying. (4)
