Cold bottle emptied into St Bernardus (wide) glass beer challis

A)Hazy dull bronze with metallic sparkle. Huge lively white head. Abundant sediment and floaties

S) Freshly cut citrus fruit, coriander, banana peel. Alcohol drifts and resonates -- you know this is strong stuff

T) Excellent interpretation of Belgian Pale Ale. Fruity with pear juice and stewed apples. Sweet candy sugar and mild, suttle bitter hops.

M) Dense sea of fine carbonation that lasts and lasts. Sticky sweet but still refreshing. Yum.

O) Another excellent beer from De Dolle. This one is tougher to find, but worth the effort.

A: Pours a transparent pale gold with a creamy white head that retains well. Moderate lacing coats the sides of the glass.

S: Yeasty bouquet with subtle esters; bananas, lemons.

T: Malt-forward with a very complex medley of fruit flavors; lemons, honeydew, oranges, pineapple, green apples and guava. Belgian yeast comes through in the finish with a dried apricot tang. Beautifully balanced and delicious.

M: Medium to full bodied and quite creamy. The sturdiness of the beer really allows the complexity on the palate to shine.

O: A unique, beautiful and incredibly complex golden ale. Superb.

On tap at Congregation Ale House in Long Beach, CA.

Pours a hazy light yellow with a foamy bone head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is slightly sour and tart with malt, grain, fruit, and acidic aromas. Taste is much the same with fruit and spice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity and spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with some interesting aromas and flavors.
