On tap at Mikkeller bar.
Has a big fluffy white head and a slightly see through golden yellow body.
Smells grassy, yeasty, and fruity.
Lots of fruit namely banana which is in the nose and taste.
Has a medium mouthfeel that is crisp and lingers nicely on the palette.
Straight up delicious!

33cl bottle into a snifter
A: Poirs a slightly hazy golden color with over four fingers if dense foam, even with a very careful pour. Retention is remarkable and lacing is very good.
S: Lots of complex yeast character in the aroma. Quite fruity, ranging from dried apricots to orange zest. Also spicy, peppercorn and clove. I also get a fresh floral nature in the beer. A mild caramel sweetness helps balance all these aromas.
T: The flavor is almost as complex as the aroma. It's hard to distinctly describe each individual flavor contributing to the whole. It has a mild pineapple and peach sweetness along with cardamom and light clove.
M: Medium thickness with smooth, creamy carbonation.
O: A great Belgian Strong Pale Ale. Balanced sweetness, complex, and easy to drink.

11.6 oz bottle into a New Belgium goblet. Bottled 5/2011.
A: Pours a cloudy dark gold color with strong carbonation and some unattractive yeast particles. The head is a bit rougher than I really like in the style; nonetheless it's about three fingers high, colored offwhite, retaining itself decently. It also has a huge floater in the center, with a much creamier texture. Lacing is sparse but strong where it exists.
S: I first note some white grapes with some caramel, earthiness, and a kiss of lactic sourness. This light fruitness evolves, developing additional tones of orange, apricot, and cherry. The complexity of the fruit esters here are really engrossing.
T: This has a bit more caramel malt than I expected, along with a finishing touch of lactose. Behind this primary flavor lies the fruit notes I loved so much on the nose. Also, I note some grassy hops on the aftertaste; I could tell this would be quite hoppy fresh. There's an accumulating earthy note that provides some cheesy qualities; some sips are like biting into a stank-ass cheese - and by gawd King, it works here.
M: Despite some of the early sweetness, this is nicely crisp and dry, probably aided by its age. The back end is pretty astringent; a bit more than I like, actually. Otherwise, it's a very successful mouthfeel, mixing pleasant dryness with a good complexity of flavor.
O: Quite tasty. This would probably be better fresh, but it's still drinking great right now. Regardless, this is one of those mildly strange beers that really makes you contemplate it. Think of it as Duvel's slightly loopy but lovable younger brother.

A: Pours a transparent pale gold with a creamy white head that retains well. Moderate lacing coats the sides of the glass.
S: Yeasty bouquet with subtle esters; bananas, lemons.
T: Malt-forward with a very complex medley of fruit flavors; lemons, honeydew, oranges, pineapple, green apples and guava. Belgian yeast comes through in the finish with a dried apricot tang. Beautifully balanced and delicious.
M: Medium to full bodied and quite creamy. The sturdiness of the beer really allows the complexity on the palate to shine.
O: A unique, beautiful and incredibly complex golden ale. Superb.

On tap at Congregation Ale House in Long Beach, CA.
Pours a hazy light yellow with a foamy bone head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is slightly sour and tart with malt, grain, fruit, and acidic aromas. Taste is much the same with fruit and spice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity and spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with some interesting aromas and flavors.
