Pours a bright hazy orange with a small bubbly head that recedes quickly and leaves scant lacing.

The aroma is dominated by hops with a combination of floral pine and citrus in the form of juicy oranges and pineapples.

The taste is bigger than the aroma suggested. There is some bitter sappy pine up front with lots of juicy citrus following it up. Oranges, pineapples, maybe some grapefruit. The finish has a lingering bitterness.

The mouthfeel is slick with a fairly low carbonation. It's medium bodied overall and leaves a sticky sap resin aftertaste.

This a decent hop-forward IPA that's very drinkable but maybe a tad low on carbonation. Still, very good.

Pours a clear copper color with a one-finger off-white head. The head recedes into a thin layer on top leaving solid lacing.

Smells of bright citrus hops with hints of pine and lighter hints of floral hops with pale malt aromas lurking in the background.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Robust pale malt flavors up front segue into juicy citrus hop flavors with mild amounts of pine. The hop flavors overtake the malt midway through the sip and are joined by a strong bitterness that intensifies before the end of the sip.

Mouthfeel is good. It's got a solid thickness with moderate carbonation.

Drinkability is good. I didn't have a problem finishing my glass and could have another.

Overall I think this was a touch better on-tap than it was on cask, the enhanced carbonation makes the aromas and flavors pop a bit more. All in all my only minor gripe with this is the intense bitterness, however even considering that it's a beer that's well worth a shot.

Popped into Westside for a beer last Tuesday, and wrote some notes down on a napkin. I asked the bartender if this was a cask ale, because there was no head to be found. She also did not pour the beer properly (45, then 90 degrees)
Hazy burnt orange in appearance. Citric hop flavor aromas- tangerine, navel orange with a side of rye toast. Bright up front, with some noticeable maltiness...more of the rye toast and pretzels. The chewy maltiness stood out for this IPA.
Mouthfeel is somewhat chalky hop citric, finishing somewhat dry and bitter. This IPA turned out tasting pretty good. I will go back to compare the flavor, after a better pour.

A comparison of two casks: one tapped 24 hours prior and dry-hopped with Centennial, Cascade, and Chinook and one tapped only minutes ago dry-hopped with the rarely-used Zeus hop variety.

Appearance: Both arrived an opaque, mahogany-hued body, though the prior cask offered up a bit of a muddled appearance, being one of the very last pours from the firkin. Each sported a dense, creamy-looking, light beige head.

Smell: Caramelly maltiness with a slight bready bent to it. While each had a fair amount of grassy tones, the cask dry-hopped with the 3C's had notes of white grapefruit and lemon, while the Zeus had fresh floral tones paired with grapefruit lightly dusted with spice.

Taste: Light touches of chewy caramel candy from the crystal malts with further hints of crisp grains and bread. The cask dry-hopped with a melange of C-hops had a nice earthy, grassy character and a bold citrus taste. The just-tapped Zeus cask was floral, grassy and had a pithy grapefruit character and background zestiness to it. Both were medium in bitterness. The prior cask finished drying and bittersweet, while the latter cask ended a tad more dry and bitter.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation for the Zeus version and medium-low for the day-old cask, though both were rather smooth in the mouthfeel department.

Drinkability: A fun, engaging juxtaposition of varying hop varieties and the effects of oxygen on beer. Both were amply bitter with bright hop characters and I look forward to this one hitting the regular line-up.
