Sunset Grille and Tap in Boston, Eulogy in Philly, and Oskar Blues in Colorado. Some of my all time favorite bars. Avenue certainly belongs in this discussion. The atmosphere, variety, and prices are all excellent. Avenue is a doable walk—or trolley ride from the convention center area. The bar looks like the inside of a local establishment that has been there for a while. Nice big windows, wood all over, very homey. There is usually a bit of smoke in the air, but there is an outside patio to avoid it, and a smaller bar upstairs. There is a pool table to relax with. This strikes me as a local place away from tourists like me and there is a gritty charm to it. I managed to walk there twice on my four day trip and it was well worth it. The bartenders were both really friendly. After my first couple of drinks and indicating that I wanted to drink local, the bar keep was able to offer spot on suggestions. Prices are great. Most beers come in pints $4.25 to $7. Certainly harder to get bottles are more expensive. They also offer 10 ounce pours for around $3. The list of beers is amazing for any area. Lazy magnolia, NOLA, Stone, Brooklyn special releases, Covington. It is all there and more. The food was reasonably priced and tasty. I had a crab cake sandwich and fries for $12. The fries were super tasty. Writing this up makes me wish I was back. If you go to one place for alcohol of any sort in New Orleans—yeah who I am kidding people will just stop once—go here. The atmosphere and the selection alone make this a must. One of the best in the nation.

Aside from not being sure how to get the ball rolling on my order this place was perfect.

Upstairs bar keep was informative and personable. Lots of choice and he took a few to figure out the right beer to try, when in Rome after all!

Food was tasty but I'm here for the amazing selection of beer so that was a bonus.

All in all, every craft beer fan no matter if you're a snob or a noob must make this place a required destination if in NOLA.

Made my first visit to the Avenue Pub on the kast day of craft brew week while on a weekend trip to Nola. I had my wife (who is not a beer drinker) with me so we really just stopped in for a quick bite to eat and allow me to sample a few of the things on tap that I wouldn't normally get to

I got an Abita Select Mayhawk to start things off and followed with a Brooklyn Sorachi Ace to go with the burgers we got to eat. Burgers were pretty good, cooked correctly and the waffle fries with jack chz, bacon, green onions and bechemel sauce were delicious.

Since we didn't have much longer to stay, I wanted a nice, hearty imperial stout to enjoy before we headed back downtown. The bartender at the upstairs bar suggested I try the Evil Twin Biscotti Break since I had to choose one. Great selection as I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The Avenue Pub had 36-40 beers on tap between the bar downstairs and the one upstairs and probably had another 80-100 different bottles in stock. A lot of great stuff that they rotate out regularly. I wish I had more time than I did that day but it is definitely a place any beer lover should check out.

I've been here twice and both times they excellent taps to choose from. I love the atmosphere and location. The food was good, but I have only had the food once. Its easily become my favorite spot, and I cannot wait to go back. Some of the best beers I have had have come from Avenue Pub.

I have been to more places than I care to admit to find a good beer, but this place tops the list. The staff is super friendly, they have an amazing beer selection with 45 taps (some locals but mostly quality stuff), and hundreds of bottles that are more than worthy. A special shout out to the Owner, Polly you made my trip to New Orleans. Go there, drink a beer, enjoy the patio or head upstairs after 5pm, its all good.

So here it is, one of the most outrageously unique, divine and overall-WOW beer bars I have ever come across in the US and beyond. Period. Word.

The wife and I were driving back to our hotel in the outskirts of Nola after spending an afternoon in Uptown (Bulldog bar, let's fuggedaboudit) and I saw the Avenue from the car.

So glad we stopped! Super chilled, relaxed ambience for New Year's... rather quiet and spacious all around, not too loud or smoky. Divey, though, old joint and terrible bathrooms. Truth be told.

Gigantic beer menu divided by floors- 45 taps downstairs and 8 upstairs. On 12/31 they had a "beer geek festival" with some crazy taps including De Dotcher Embrasse, ,Evil Twin Mini Growler, Jewbelation 10, De Struisse Cuve Delphine and Hr. Frederiksen Amager. I tried these all!

And they had much more, including a bunch of rare saisons, sours and Belgians and Cantillon Fou'Foune... plus locals like NOLA Hopzilla, which the wife had and we loved.

Reasonable prices, $6-$8 for rare brews and 1/2 pours offered for $3.50. Deal! 4 ounces of several different RIS and I'm in heaven.

They have a jukebox, a pool table, some bar food and a balcony upstairs... and they open 24 hours, muthafuckas! I think I'm in love.

OK I will skip right too it..this place is amazing! Constantly rotating taps of amazing brews; rare beers, different styles, different breweries, just amazing. Amazing bottles!!! Holy crap its amazing. Just check out their beermenus page. Proper glasses (for the most part). Amazing bartenders, and ok food (good for the vibe of the place). The upstairs has a bit more "rare" big beers like vintage cantillon, but its a bit more sleepy and somewhat awkward; like you walked into someones weird stoner basement by accident (maybe I was there on an off-night...a few times). For instance, they show the presidential debate upstairs, but baseball/football games downstairs.

However, I cant recommend this place enough. Its a must go if you are in NOLA!!

I had read that this was the best place in New Orleans, and it didn't disappoint. It was a world above the bars in the tourist areas of the French Quarter, so it was a pleasant change.

Atmosphere is nice, high ceilings and old wood, but the downstairs was fairly small - about 8 seats at bar, and a few high top tables. The upstairs bar and porch wasn't open when I was there.

The tap list was very impressive- a mix of local beers, nationwide limited releases, and some Belgians. Paper tap lists were up to date (it seemed daily), and organized by style.

Good prices for most of the drafts - 16 oz for $5 for a lot of them. Bartenders were friendly, and attentive. I didn't try the food, but it was being provided by an outside BBQ place.

I just came back from a week long vacation in NOLA and spent more time at the Avenue Pub than anywhere else. Atmosphere is great, staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and selection is great.

Largest selection out of anywhere I found in Nola and prices were very fair. In your visiting NOLA it is a must stop. They also update their Twitter often with beer specials and events they are holding. One night we were able to hang out with some NOLA Brewing guys and enjoyed some Hopitolous on Randell, also had an awesome bash for National IPA Day!

What a unique place. I have been here a few times, and have always had a great time. An ultra chill place, but you have to know the rules. Order food from the right bar, only certain beers are served at the balcony, the main menu is served later at night. Anyway, none of that seems to bother me because the bartenders are great and explain everything. Two main areas, a downstairs that allows smoking, and upstairs/balcony that is smoke free. I cannot get enough of the old world French/Cajun look and feel of the place. Just perfect for a laid back and enjoyable session. I can people watch and sip on great beer all day on the balcony.

The service is great, everyone is very Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about what they have to offer. They know beer and how to serve it to a T. The food I had was very good. Smoked sausage, pulled pork, and pasta salad. Everything was great, and the rest of the menu is available later.

The selection is awesome. A handful of LA locals, but none of those are any good outside of NOLA. They do a cask Friday which is great. Happened to be Saint Arnold Endeavor. The rest of the tap list ranges from Green Flash, Saint Somewhere, Dieu du Ciel, and Prof Fritz 1809. All are in good to great condition. Believe it or not the bottle list is even more impressive. Cantillon, JW Lees, Drie Fonteinen, Evil Twin, etc, etc.

One of the best places to have a beer in the Country, period. Just awesome, and I can't recommend this place enough.
