Yeech! I certainly hope this beer was spoiled because I can't imagine a brewer producing a beer that tastes like this intentionally. Pale straw, American wheat beer like appearance. Thin bright white head. Wicked musty off aroma and flavor and that's about all that can be detected. This is either gone bad or the brewery is using some funky overpowering yeast for this beer. I will try again and update my review if I find it elsewhere.

12oz brown bottle. Freshness marked as "enjoy by Aug."

Pours a very pale, straw-ish yellow colored beer, touch of haze, with scattered slow moving carbonation bubbles. Quick white foam heads dies to a translucent wispy lacing of almost nothingness.

Neutral aroma.

Light bodied with a bland feel on the palate and touch of carbonation tingle. Malt flavors are also bland, with some sweetness. Wheatiness comes through a bit, a bit cereal-like, but this too is bland. Though a touch of breadiness mingles in with some tannins as the beer warms, giving the beer some much needed character. Little hop flavor or bitterness, expect for a very watery melon / rind flavor. Touch of fruity something in there too. Hint of an herbal offering and a honey-ish note. Drying lackluster finish.

Hmm ... I guess if you wanted a beer that you didn't really have to think about and wanted to suck down your neck in the hot summer ... this could be your beer. And I get it, that's the point of this beer, but it still offers little and I hate seasonal stereotypes that lack on purpose, so I'll leave it at that.

Super clear pale straw color, medium rocky white head, quickly diminishes to minimal lacing. Almost non-existent aroma, but what is there is slightly bready and some raw graininess. Flavor is sweat, grainy, some breadiness. Body is thin & watery, but crisp and clean.

Came to me a pale golden color with a thin white lace. Smell was buttery sort of ringwood aroma (do they use ringwood?) and some rotten lemon. Not terribly appealing.

Taste had a buttery toffee ringwood flavor (again, do they use ringwood? sure seems like it), some lemon that just wasn't right (like I said in the smell, like it was rotten, who knows), and a soggy wheat sort of flavor. I did not enjoy it at all. Mouthfeel was medium bodied, adequately carbonated.

I really disliked this brew. This is very rare for me, but I actually could not finish the pint.

Where's the head? Not sure what happened, but wheat beers should never pour this flat. Straw yellow in color and extremely clear (no haze!).

Slight skunk to the smell--I am tasting this in March, but I purchased it yesterday. Malt aromas are hindered by a small amount of metal.

Flavor is a slight improvement in that it doesn't taste skunky. Still, this is a mild brew. Strongest flavor is of raw grain, slightly grassy. Low level hops can be detected in the swallow. This is a light bodied beer with low carbonation. The flavors remind me of the first attempts at non-alcoholic beer.

Sorry, but this is going into tonights dinner rather than finish the glass.

Appearance: This brew is a pale straw yellow, but also semi-hazy. Minor lacing.

Smell: No strong aromas :( Just notes of lemon, biscuit and grain/wheat.

Taste: It almost tastes organic, even though it isn't - although it does use "natural" lemon. The lemon is very faint, which is fine, as other summer brews get too heavy on the lemon (I'm looking at you Leinenkugel). Lastly, there's a fairly unpleasant bitter aftertaste, not in a hoppy way, but from something that shouldn't be there.

Mouthfeel: Too thin, and almost a bit flat. Thin is ok, it doesn't have to be heavier. Thinner beers just need more carbonation to make them livelier and not so dull. But the carbonation here is low. I was hoping it would have more bite.

Drinkability: This is its one saving grace. Although that's Bud Light's only positive claim, too. So, it's not like I can give too many brownie points for drinkabilty if the taste isn't attractive

I like Wachusett's brews. The 2 or 3 I had previously were very good (Octoberfest and something else I forget). So I was eager to try their summer offering. But this one falls flat in too many ways. Stay clear of it!

Poured into a standard pint glass. Enjoy by date of July 2011 on the label.

A - This beer pours a clear straw color. A very thin foamy white head forms as well.

S - Mostly wheat and a hint of lemon. A bit of pale malt in there as well.

T - Bready with some lemon zest. Lots of grain in there too. I'm trying to like this but there isn't much flavor to be honest.

M - Light bodied with a low/medium carbonation level.

O - I'm a fan of Wachusett, but this beer is just a disappointment. Just because its a summer beer doesn't mean it has to be devoid of flavor. I would drink one at a BBQ if offered but only if the option was this or BMC.

A-pours a completely clear pale light straw color with bubbles rising to the top. the head is thin and bubbly, eggshell white in color.

S-lots of metallic phenols, notes of spicey clove and hints of wheat. Pale malts and a touch of earth in the middle. Very faint notes of lemon and herbal grassy hops in the back.

T-metallic and slightly bitter in the back, hints of wheat and yeast with notes of lemon. The pale malts are towards the back and it is a little earthy. Grassy herbal hops in the finish.

M-this is very crisp and highly carbonated. rough on the palate with a lighter body.

D-this is light in taste but not very good. would not recommend.

Golden and yellow with a nice head and good lacing.
The aroma of citrus and grains.
The taste of a macro beer. Grains, citrus and light hops.

The feel was light and refreshing with a hint of bitterness and a watery, grainy finish.

Notes: On a hot day I will accept one,but I will not pay for this unless I have to. Just did not make a high grade due to lack of balance and flavor.

The beer poured with a crystal clear gold appearance with thin lacing on the sides and a thin head on the top. Aromas had slight spice and wheat to it with slight citrus. Taste-wise was not spectacular. Nagging, dry grassy aftertaste lingers a bit too long but a nice sweet lemon taste hits your tongue at every sip. Mouthfeel is nice and crisp: very light and refreshing. Overall, an ok summer drink.

pours a golden straw hue with a frothy white thin head that leaves a spot or two of lace. aroma is relatively non-existent... straw and pale malt as it warms, with hints of chemicals and earth. taste is pale and weak. hints of wheat, hints of straw. a bit grassy. not really getting the lemon except in a funky citric finish. mouth is light with an overbearing offensive carbonation that kind of burns and kills any light enjoyable flavor that might be hiding in there. wanted to like this one, but it just falls short of being anything impressive.

This is a very pale golden colored wheat beer with a small white head that disappeared quickly.
The aroma is very mild for a wheat beer. It is just a bit grainy.
The flavor also seems a bit mild for a wheat beer. It is mostly just grainy malts with hints of wheat and lemon.
The mouth feel is light in body and a bit under carbonated.

12 fl oz brown bottle; served in a weizen glass.

Pale straw with a hazy, whitish hue. Fizzy, white head that evaporates instantly leaving a light layer of film. No lasting lace present.

Diacetyl touched wheat, corn, and rice that gives a bit of sweetness. Astringent-like lemon with other faint fruity-esters: raspberry, strawberry.

Biscuit-flavored toasted malts cut by a solvent citrus flavor that is pretty waxy. Bland corn and rice prior to an overwhelming burst of carbonation. Musty wheat and notes of diacetyl mark an annoying aftertaste.

Light bodied; gritty and musty mouthfeel. Over-carbonated, even for an American Pale Wheat.

An adjunctory-filled Pale Wheat that won't be pleasantly remembered. This is one summer offering I won't be returning to.

Poured from the tap into a tasting glass.

The color is a slight hazy, light yellow with a thin white head and some little lacing.

The smell is quite muted and does not give off strong flavors in the nose but does have a slight wheat, biscuit flavor that hides the bitterness in the far background quite well.

The taste is tangy and slightly bitter at first. Some slight lemon flavor comes out first and leads into a sweet spicey flavor that stays for just a sec. There is a small bitter aftertaste at the end that lingers for just a moment and then is gone.

The feel of this beer is light and is pretty drinkable. It goes down easy and feels slightly smooth. Not the best summer beer out there but not a bad beer.

very bright and somewhat hazy bright yellow appeared before me. Nice three inch high head of frothy white hung around for a good few moments before finally settling down into a thin pillow across the top, nice carbonation.

Light floral yeast, a touch of honey, maybe and that's a stretch and the typical touch of lemon and grass. Very light smell overall flavor was just as light and bland as the smell was/ Light grassy and wheat with a touch of lemon and honey. Not much in the finish as it was clean, and quick.

Super light bodied and ultra carbonated. If that's the style they were going for they sure nailed it.

Smell: lemon and straw

Taste: leamon and straw

Drinkability: Another light and not overly memorable summer time beer. Wachusett has way better beers in their line up than this. Not bad, but nothing I would pick up again.

12 oz longneck bottle, with best before month notch on label.

This wheat ale poured a clear, yellow color with creamy, bright white foam that clung to the glass. The smell was clean with wheat, malt, and a hint of hops in the aroma. The taste was a clean, wheat flavor (no fruit). There was some malt and a bit of a sweet grainy taste. The modest hop flavors came through in the finish. The mouthfeel was light: light body with good carbonation. This was a fairly refreshing, light bodied american wheat ale.

Bottle poured into a pint glass.
Very clear pale straw yellow appearance with thin and foamy, soapy head. Smell is very faint, not very aromatic, metallic, lemon and clove; leads to a similar taste profile, pale malts linger with lemon and yeast. Very light on the tongue and bubbly, but not memorable. Too many other good summer choices available with more flavor and balance.

The beer pours a pale gold color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is decent. It has a light and refreshing pale and wheat malt scent along with a nice lemon zest. The taste is average. It has a bland wheat malt flavor with an artificial lemony taste. It goes down real easy and finishes a bit dry. The mouthfeel is decent. It is a medium bodied beer with good carbonation. This is a pretty good drinker, although I'm not sure I'd buy it again. I like having the option to not put the lemon in my wheat beer.

Clear yellow/gold colour with a tight cap of fine white bubbles. Decent head retention, some streaky lacing. Mild aroma, some wheat, crackery malt, citrus, lemon. Light bitterness, lemon throughout, crackery wheat really took over in the finish. Lingering metallic flavour. Light bodied, moderate carbonation, a bit dry. The body fell away towards the end of the sip, leaving it on the thin side.

The ABV of this beer is 4.2% as listed on the label. The beer pours a pretty pale yellow with plenty of carbonation, a smallish white head that dissipates to just a thin covering. Lacing ... forget it. The smell is crisp, very lemony, some cooked veggie, and a definite wheaty aroma. The taste is pretty mediocre. This is a fairly average wheat beer with an artificial infusion of some lemon. There is a bland, fairly dry, cardboard like taste in the finish. The mid section is refreshing, wheaty, slightly sourish lemon, carbonated, and I'm getting some spiciness mixed in as well. The mouthfeel is quite light, although the sourish lemon is not scoring points. The aftertaste lingers on a bit long with the sourish lemon, cardboard, and wheat tastes. This is a one and done for me.

Poured into a tulip pint glass. A straw color, very transparent with a thin bubbly head. The head didn't last long at all. Smell reminded me slightly or burnt toast. Not bad, but not terribly pleasant either, Taste was wheaty, very slighty sweet, but with a hint of lemon that lingered in the mouth. Felt ok in the mouth. Stuck just enough to remind of beer, but the carbonation detracted a bit. Very easy to drink, esp during the summer.

Assuming this is the current Wachusett Summer.

A- Straw yellow in color. Very bubbly. Foamy with a slight head and no lace.
S- Slight lemon, wheat scent to it.
