Typical of standard Victory at Sea: jet black, shiny, with a thin light brown cap. Sheets of lacing down the glass. Thick and menacing.

Unlike other variations of this beer, this one still has good amounts of the base beer shining through: roast, some coffee, and distinct vanilla. This one adds to the base beer's beauty with a gentle, yet present earthy sweetness from distinct maple syrup. A bit of maple wood character as well.

The flavor follows the aroma, as the bourbon and maple add complementary notes to the already delicious base beer's coffee, roast, and vanilla layers. Exceptional.

Full bodied with low-moderate carbonation. Delicious.

A delightful treat. Really special.

A - Black body, thick brown head has great retention and good lace.

S - Out of this world. Maple syrup up front, with coffee, chocolate, vanilla, roast rounding it out.

T - Follows the nose, but the syrup is a bit more subdued, coming out more in the finish. A bit of alcohol warmth. Taste is fairly similar to the standard VaS.

M - Full, rich velvety body. Abv well hidden.

O - I could drink this for breakfast. Perfect pairing for some pancakes. Made the trip out to TDR worth it.

Poured at the Drafting Room in exton PA out of a firkin

A - 3 fingers of gorgeous brown head receding slowly. Good lacing

S - equally large amounts of maple syrup and chocolate with a hint of coffee

T - lots of maple syrup up front with strong chocolate and hints of coffee and vanilla finishing out

M - the firkin leaves the beer at the perfect level of carbonation and smoothness

O - this is easily one of the best beers I've ever had. I didn't expect the maple syrup to shine like it did. Amazing work by ballast point!
