Live review. Poured from the 12 oz. bottle that I bought as a single from Save-On Tobacco & Beverage in Mentor, Ohio yesterday for $2.50 into a clean, clear glass. "SC 140 Enjoy by 090512" stamped on the neck of the bottle.

A Thick creamy head over a light copper, even brownish orange translucent body. Certainly to style. Slight uptick since the head clings nicely to the inside of the glass upon repeated sips. 3.5

S Great flavors rise up including pineapple fruit, bitter hops in what I perceive to be a nice balance. Intriguing smell that calls to mind some of the better beers in this style. 4.5

T Sweet nectar of pineapple syrupy goodness in the front of the tongue and a longer lasting bitterness lingers on the back of the tongue in an all encompassing effect. There is a bit of heat from the 7.0% ABV but this is a good tasting beer. Again, it calls to mind some of the better beers in this category since it provides such a varied palate. 4.0

M Full for sure and even a little bit harsh with the bitterness that lingers. A big, bold beer. 4.0

D/O Drinkability is fair. This is a big beer with an aggressive ABV. I would probably only have one even if I had purchased more. Overall this is a good beer. 3.5

Notes: Apparently Ballast Point Brewing Company must have just recently started distributing to NE Ohio. I had not seen these in stores until just recently!
