On draft @ The Broad Axe. Never heard of it before so I decided to give it a shot. Pours a slightly hazy amber/copper color with a medium white head. Nose is pretty heavy on the piney hops. Some Citrus hops and sweet pale malt also show up. The flavor is more citrusy and sweet than the aroma lets on. I was thinking it was going to have more of that spicy hop bite to it. Nonetheless, good hop character and good flavor but the finish is a little weak and watery. The flavor seems to fade quickly. Medium body and slick mouthfeel really makes this beer quite sessionable and easy to drink. I really liked it. I want to try more from this brewery. Could definitely throw a few of these back without being overwhelmed by the flavor.

A - Rock solid retention which sees the head becoming richer and creamier as this one settles about... Ultimately, there is a rich creamy full lacing and thick collar that is amongst the top I've seen in the American IPA style... The color is a crisp medium bronze... This brew is largely still with only a stray sluggish carbonation bubble here and there...
S - The nose leads with a stellar mix of citrusy and tropical fruit hops... Grape fruit... Sweet oranges... Pineapple... A light whiff of mango... There is also a slightly milder earthy and piney hop presence that wonderful compliments the tropical fruit and citrus... All of this hoppy goodness sits atop a solid malty foundation... There is loads of biscuit and freshly baked bread... There is also a light caramel sweetness lurking beneath the surface which only serves to further round out this aroma...
T - The hops are primary player, but never over power... They take on a much more pronounced piney character on the palate as much of the tropical fruit and citrus is missing in action... The hops are solid and consistent throughout and never linger or fade... They are compliment by the strong malt base... Loads of graham cracker and crust along with a mild caramel sweetness serve as a terrific compliment to the hoppiness...
M - Starts a bit juicy and finishes a bit dry... Medium bodied... Moderate carbonation which is a touch to fizzy for my liking... Mostly clean and crisp throughout...
D - The appearance and aroma of this American IPA are top notch and approach world class status... The remaining components are all solidly above average but are a bit of a let down by comparison... A very nice brew that anyone with access to shouldn't hesitate to experience and form their own judgements...
