on-tap @ Belmont Station.
from notes.
Black with a foamy off white head.
Light roast notes in the aroma. It is floral and lightly fruity hops in the taste and a slight roast finish.
Medium body wit bubbly, fairly active carbonation.
A well done, slightly hopped up take on the style.

750ml bottle into a Teku glass. Huge thanks to bstyle.
A – Pours a dark, red hued brown body. Crazy amounts of dark grey foam. It was a real effort just to get a standard pour it would foam up so much. Crazy lacing and retention, this stuff just clumps onto the glass and stays forever.
S – Some faint citrus and fruity esters, pilsner malt, grass and light charred malts.
T – Faded piney hops, clean pilsner malt and Belgian yeast fruits followed by some lightly roasted malt and a lingering bitterness. Very drinkable yet very forgettable. Mouth feel is creamy and rich, very nice.
O – A very average but drinkable beer. The fact that the label is unbelievably bad ass completely makes up for it though.

Appearance. Pours a cola brown with half a glass of khaki foam that eventually fades to a flat topped volcano and leaves some chunky lacing.
Smell. Fruity yeast, some darker malts and a bit of caramel and floral hops. Interesting and different.
Taste. Floral hops, almost perfume-like. Some raisins and dark fruits along with fruity yeast esters, a little toasty darker malt and a bit of cocoa powder. Not really feelin' it here.
Mouthfeel. Below medium body, medium-low carbonation. Feels a little watery.
Overall. An interesting beer, but the flavours just weren't working for me.

Poured from 750mL bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: extremely dark brown, near black; brown highlights are visible around the edges. Head pours four fingers is frothy tan foam; inconvenient, but pretty attractive.
Smell: lightly toasty malt aroma with a distinctly lagery character and some slightly funky, slightly spicy notes. An interesting mix, although not one which I usually associate with a schwarzbier.
Taste: flavor is much like the aroma, although with some added chocolatey malt character; the funk and spiciness are also toned down compared to the aroma. Still not very authentic for the style, but it is actually pretty tasty.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent level of carbonation and an OK creaminess. Not too bad.
Overall: I like this beer. It's an interesting take on the style.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a dark walnut brown, nearly opaque. Massive three finger light brown head with good retention and tons of lacing and foam bergs. Aroma of biscuit malt, grass, earthy spiciness, with a cola element. Flavor is an odd rye-like sourness, hops, biscuit and slight toasted malt. Finishes with an acerbic toasted malt and lingering earthy hops. Medium bodied. An unusual schwarzbier that has some rye beer characteristics. Unusual, but somewhat unbalanced.

Bottle opned on 12.20.12
A - Pours a dark cola brown with a foamy light tan head that just sits there.
S - Malts, slight spice, raisins.
T - Bready malt, chalky wheat.
D - Good carbonation with a surprisingly heavier body, chalky on the tongue.
O - Malty, dark and chalky. Not that impressed with this one.
