Second Release - March 2013
From Upright's blog:
"...essentially the Four Play but with barrel aged Six with raspberries mixed in. The inaugural release... used 25% of the Six. It's an evolution of the Four Play, giving it added layers - more malt, more alcohol, deeper color, and more fruit (but still in check with the malt profile)."

Opened at 4/20 tasting.
Pours a dark amber, almost reddish in color, not much of a head. Pretty average in appearance.
Smells of bright sour berry fruit, especially raspberry, some sweetness to balance the sourness, a hint of funk.
Lots of sweet fruit flavor, pretty damn sour too. Really yummy.
Pretty good mouthfeel, nice carbonation, refreshing.

Well, it's taken me long enough to get around to checking out Upright. Bottle from Beer Mongers. Supposedly the last one they had.
A mildly hazy reddish pink with a dense, pink-tinged white head that falls off to a wispy disk leaving no lacing, this is what you'd expect for an AWA. The nose is pleasant and refreshing. It's nice to see a brewer recognize that Brett can be quite refreshing if given equal footing to the sourness. Cherry skins, raspberries lend a fruity acidity, Brett adds funk/hay/ a faint bandaid aroma that actually *really* works, and there's a moderate lactic and yogurt-y tartness that rounds out the nose. There's also some wheat on the nose, and coupled with the hay, this really does smell rustic
The palate opens with plenty of fresh, juicy fruit, tart and sweet with the raspberries a little more prominent than the cherries, with their acidity blending well with the cherry sweetness. The fruit does whelm the Brett character some, especially the grass/ hay aspects, but the mild clove/bandaid character does lend a mild bitterness on the finish. Wheaty, lactic and yogurt-like sourness are present on the mid-palate. Clean, drying, and lactic on the finish with cherry sweetness and creme fraiche, this beer is medium-light in body, medium-high in carbonation (arguably a little too much, but not enough for me to ding the score) and pleasant on the palate. No tannins are present/noticeable. An enjoyable fruited AWA.

Poured from the bottle into a tasting snifter.
The beer pours a cloudy reddish amber color with a small layer of off white head. The smell is light and fruity. Raspberries dominate the smell, but once I was told there were cherries I could smell them. The taste is tart but smooth with more raspberries than cherries. This was a nice sour beer and a good use of fruit.

750ml bottle poured into a snifter.
A: Murky but vibrant red/orange/slightly brown beer with a small white head.
S: Funky and acidic. TONS of raspberry, with citrusy sourness. Lots of lactic acidity.
T: BURST of raspberry. WOW, this is like a kick of raspberry to the face. Mild funkiness and lots of lactic sourness. A bit of oakiness.
M: Medium bodied and medium carbonation. Slightly dry finish.
O: This is a very nice sour. I loved the raspberry flavors in this. Upright is doing some excellent stuff.
