On tap into an American pint glass @ the Wingdome, Greenwood, Seattle. Pours a clear copper w/ minimal head.
Aroma is piney & grassy, some citrus. Mostly evergreen pine.
Taste follows nose - tongue-scouring piney hops, grapefruit rind. Pale biscuity malt serves as a fairly neutral canvas to display the powerful hoppy aroma and flavor.
Overall a decent SoCal style IPA, maybe a little one-dimensional.

On tap at Vic's Pizzeria in Olympia, WA.
A- Translucent orange body with 1 finger white head that dissipated fairly quickly leaving some decent lacing.
S- Big pungent hops and citrus tones. Very nice.
T- Taste is very hop forward and bitter. Not much malt to this one, but slight bread.
M- Nice carbonation for style but fairly thin.
O- A nice hop forward single IPA. I really liked this one. I would seek it out if it's in your area.

on-tap, $3 pint at the tasting room
appearance: shaker logo pint, clear orange body, lifeless off-white head with no retention
smell: aggressively hopped, bright citrus, bitter and simple
taste: extremely hop forward, but a bit too bitter - citrusy, bitter pine, cracker malts. Good, but could be rounded out a bit to provide a cleaner hop profile
mouthfeel: bitter
overall: good, but not without flaws noted above

On tap at Wedgwood Alehouse in Seattle.
Appearance: rich gold hue with a touch of cloudiness and a finger of creamy foam. I like it.
Smell: funky and citrusy hops with a little of the malt coming through. Pretty well-crafted.
Taste: quite bitter indeed. Funky hops on a biscuity, somewhat dry malt base. I like it; quite earthy.
Mouthfeel: medium body with lots of carbonation. I like the creaminess.
Overall: a sessionably tasty IPA. I look forward to having it again.

On tap at Elk Public House. $5. Served in a pint glass.
Appearance is a hazy gold color, cloudy, with a modest white head that leaves a little lace on the glass.
Smell is a fruity lemon blossom scent.
Taste is a mild citrus flavor, pink grapefruit and lemon.
Mouthfeel is clean with a dry bitter finish.
Nice drinkable unfiltered IPA. It might be a bit pricey at $5, but I'd have it again

Pint purchased at the Baby Bar in Spokane for $2.00 (cheap micro night).
Received a pint that was a bright copper color with a finger's worth of bone-white foam.
Relatively sharp pine and citrus hop notes in the nose. Modest malty notes in the background.
Mixture of citrusy and piney hop flavors, with the citrus aspects winning out. More malty flavo than I would hav expected, but this is still the hops' show. Dry note at the swallow.
Medium bodied, with a resiny mouthfeel.
A typical, PNW take on the IPA style. I could have several of these in a row. If I see this again on tap, I wouldn't mind at all.

A: nice orange color, decent head with good retention and lacing.
S: Excellent hop aroma, not overpowering but substantial. Nice balance of pine and citrus notes.
T: Not overly bitter, but nicely hopped. Again a mix between the citrus and pine aspects. Well balanced with biscuity and slightly caramel-tasting malt.
M: Not overly bitter, but a nice resinous oily feel.
D: Very drinkable, this would be an ideal session beer for a hophead.
Overall and excellent example of a delicious and refreshing IPA.

Poured from the bottle into a tulip (thistle?) glass.
A burnt brown amber slightly cloudy, with a good three finger head off white in color with thin bubbles. Good scattered lacing on the glass. Quite nice looking.
Dry grain. Husky, and ripping barley sensations. Not so much hop presence going on here, but quite nice though.
Palate hits with much of the same flavor sensations on the nose. Dry, husky, ripping grain. Strangely feels a little burnt. A strong pine hop bitterness but not flavorful. Not much sense of sweetness to go along with this, it feels like a dry grainy hopped up brew. Mouthfeel is full with moderate carbonation, perfectly fine.
Overall though not much to say here, not recognizing and tropical or citrus fruit hop angle on this whatsoever as advertised.

6.5% and 62 IBUs poured from a growler purchased at Bottleworks. Bottle date: UNK.
Pours deep golden and crystal clear, carbonation bubbles can be seen shooting up through the refreshing looking body. Thin white cap of head falls quickly to leave a nice sheet of lacing. Smells of orange, pine, and malt; simple and pleasant. Taste is biscut malt, pine, citrus, followed by hop bittering which dies off to leave you with more malty biscut. Very nice indeed. Mouthfeel is light and refreshing, carbonation high. Very smooth, yet does not cling to the palate so as to be overbearing. Bitterness lingers a while, but I think that won't slow me down and I might just kill this growler tonight! Very nice indeed, I'd like to try the 5 grid next to see how it matches up.

On cask at the Hilltop Alehouse, 3-Grid IPA is a dull, dirty gold with creamy off-white head that leaves heavy, foamy lace, really nice swiss cheese pattern early on the the glass, of course thinning a bit as it works down.
Smell is pretty pungent for a cask IPA, a nice mix of skunky weed and bright citrus.
Taste is good, robust IPA with a fair amount of hop flavor and a firm bitterness. Not quite as bright as the nose, it's obviously dry-hopped, probably in the cask. Malt is on the back seat her, some toast character mostly, the cracker / bread accentuated by the bitterness of the hops for a touch of char, in a good way, or perhaps more akin to wood/stem - sometimes this comes across as chocolate peanut butter cups on the finish to me, as it does a bit here.
Mouthfeel is soft and light bodied.
Drinkability is very good, a tasty PNW IPA that shows well on cask, very smooth. I could use a bit brighter of a hop flavor to match the nose, but I'm a fiend for that and really can't complain too much about the way pours on cask. Well done.

Had this one at the Old Town Tavern in Ballard on cask . Never heard of these guys but once again it is great to have another new brewery producing good local beer. The pint was a golden orange colour with small head due to the cask. The nose was pure PNW hop heaven and the beer was spot on with the cask bringing out the hop flavours to the front and showing the quality of the beer. I hope to find more from these guys in the future as I see them becoming another Diamond Knot type local tap favourite

Poured into Bubble pint glass. Poured the typical orangey-amber IPA color. A nice white head that dissipated slowly, leaving a moderate amount of lacing.
A sharp, crisp hop aroma greets you as you lift the glass. Mostly the citrus aromas reach you upfront. The flavor follows the example set the aroma with some pine and floral hop lingering after the citrus fades.
Slightly better than average body for the hops to climb on. Nicely balanced hop flavors make this easy to have several of. Overall a slightly better than average IPA that is very enjoyable.
This brewery has been around for a few years now and it's good to them getting better distribution. They will opening a larger brewery soon and we should see more beers from them. Worth seeking out if you're in the PNW.
