A: very clear, thin bodied appearance, pillow of large bubbled head (offwhite) brownish amber color

S: a bit cidery, maybe a touch of mint

T: cidery quality comes through in the taste, slightly metallic, sweet with a hint of bitterness in the finish

M: light to medium body, no carbonation bite

O: look elsewhere for your beer. This one is not very good. There is no defined malt or hops, just meh.

Appearance:
Golden-amber color, clear. Moderate carbonation rising up. Small frothy head that disappear really quick, leaves a fairly nice lacing behind.

Aroma:
Mostly sweet malts, there some funky sourness.

Taste:
Sweet malts, candy-like caramel, buttery. There's sourness towards the finish. Body is light, a little dryness in the aftertaste, medium carbonation.

A - A finger of slightly off white head - slight brown. Foam sticks around for a bit. The body is clear and a nice amber color. Not a bad looking beer.

S - Mostly just lager yeast. Some wood, slight orange/lemon citrus, and a little Corona funk.

T - Get it out. Gym sock, some bitter malts, and very vegital.

M - There is something that makes my tongue tingle a little, but not in a good way. It's like the beer is trying to kill my taste buds so I can't tell how bad it is. Otherwise, good carbonation which holds up a weaker body.

O - I can't believe I used to drink this stuff. Well, not Fischer's specifically, but I'm sure if I would have tried this five years ago I would have told you that's how beer should taste. No it's not. I was just looking for a flip-top bottle.

Poured from a bit above a glass gives this beer a big white head that dies into a thin off white lacing above a clear honey copper colored beer.

A lightly roasted grain malt aroma without much else if anything else coming through.

A light roasted caramel malt taste with almost a slightly burnt quality.

The light caramel taste follows through in a light dry aftertaste on this medium bodied beer.

For a light caramel malt taste I do believe there are about 5000 beers that would better qualify, yet I have only had maybe a hundred of them. I guess I better do some work.

Served in a free McDonald's Coca-Cola glass. ;)

Has a really nice copper penny color. Not terribly vigorous pour yields a solid head with good retention that leaves pretty nice lacing. Aroma is all right, some malt, some light hops but nothing very special. At worst it could be called slightly chemical. Flavor is not overpowering in any way. Hops and malt have a pretty nice balance with a finish that isn't at all objectionable.

Overall a good beer that is very drinkable. It isn't going to wow anybody but I'd drink it if it was put in front of me again.

When I opened the bottle got a nice aroma. Nice smooth taste and nice even taste on my palet. I would recommend this to any beer drinker.

I received a 30 beer from around the world from my mom. So far so good and I will definetly rate all of them as I drink them.

A- Clear, light amber, well carbonated.

S- Bland, uneventful.

T- Sweet and fruity, but a little watery and not too complex.

M- Watery, light.

O- Are you sure this is a lager? The bottle says Ale and it tastes fruitier than a typical lager. That said, not bad or offensive, but not one to get again. There's a reason France is known for a great many things, but not beer.

Pours an amber color. Slight head, minimal lacing, both dissipated quickly.

The smell was actually really bad. Didn't smell malt or hops, it really smelled like metal and water.

Taste was light. Malts and a slight sweethness. Kind of watery. Taste was below average and not very good. Very easy to drink though.

Thought it was kind of flat and dry on the tongue.

Really, not much good to say here. It didn't taste offensive and wasn't hard to drink, but it had no balance at all and it was kind of hard to drink 14oz of this because the flavor was so bland. Not quite as bad as a typical macro lager, but pretty close. I would have to imagine the IBU of this beer would be in the teens. I had never heard anything positive about the French and beer, and this beer shows why pretty clearly. It just wasn't good at all. Not drain pour bad, but certainly not good enough to visit again.

I ordered this beer not knowing what I was getting. When it was brought to me it was in a swing top bottle. 5/26/12

I thought it had a strange smell at first but the aroma became smoother after tasting it. It had a very light amber color and it produced a nice amount of head.

I enjoyed this beer very much.

Pours a clear amber with a medium off-white head with some light lacing. Aroma and Taste is sweet lightly toasted caramel malt and grains, some yeast, fruity, light grass notes and light bitterness. Palate is a medium body, crisp with good carbonation. Finishes with sweet lightly toasted caramel malt and grains, some grassy notes, fruity with some light bitterness. Overall an ok brew, crisp and refreshing.

Stubby oversized bottle with swing top. Served in a pint glass. Code LO309E. Sampled 11/18/11.

A: Pours with 2 fingers of foamy head, off-white in color, that fizzes away leaving a lumpy, crater-filled cap as it recedes. A soapy film is left in its wake. The body is exceptionally clear and very light amber orange in color. A spare smattering of lace is left behind.

S: Malt dominant - or rather, little to no detectable hops. Generic grains with faint toasted aromas of cereal and caramel. Off-putting metallic notes throughout.

T: I'm not going to lie, the taste is A LOT better than I expected given the aroma. And I think most of the 'C' rating is a little unfair. This beer has clean flavor with a light fruity sweetness. It's actually pleasant and extremely easy to drink.

M: Medium-light body with a more substantial mouthfeel than anticipated, probably due to the prolonged fizziness on the tongue - lively and fizzy. Moderate sweetness.

O: My experience was more enjoyable than the collective BA opinion. I guess I'm in the minority, but I thought this beer was half-decent.

nice 22 ounze bottle with a swingtop poured into a pint glass amber color, off white head. smells of floral hops. tastes nice and smooth, A little on the sweet side, could use more bitterness. good smooth mouthfeel with good carbonation. overall a very drinkable good amber beer. very simple with nothing offensive about it. I would buy it again..

A- always love a swing top. Dark lager? No.. More of a medium amber. Off white head falls quickly to a thin disk of generic foam. Lightly hazed.

S- cereal grains and a touch of caramel sweetness.

T- cardboard malt and a bit of an herbal Hop twang. Mild sweetness.

MF- light and fizzy with some dryness. Has a sort of soda pop corn syrup feel.

D- one dimensional and teetering on the edge of boring, this would be a good gateway brew to help a pale beer drinker cross over to the dark side. Don't expect a Biere de garde when you see France on the label and 6%abv. It's closer to a euro bud platinum. Although this one is good for a bad example, it must be said that it would be easy to drink and party on if kept extremely ice cold. And chugged responsibly.

Light amber hue; just a shade above a clear lager. Poured with a small head that dissipated within a minute of drinking. Smells were barely discernible, and included sweet malt. Creamy and smooth mouthfeel. Taste of crackery malt, slight rind like hops, and some oddly placed sugary sweetness. There is an out of place twang above it all before it fades dry. Not bad, just nothing all that special. It's better than your standard non-1664 Kronenbourg!

12 oz bottle, no date.

appears slightly hazy amber copper in color. thin white head. sweet aroma, a little spicey earthy hop aroma.

mild in flavor, just a touch of caramel. no hops detected in the taste. thin, higher carbonation.

overall- eh, pretty boring. I'm confused - on the lable it says "Imported Ale", but it's listed as a lager here on BA. Is this just a Texas label issue?

i did appreciate this beer for what it is a french amber, and it was just that. pourned into a tumbler glass, nice reddish amber color with some white foam. the head didnt really stick around to long. mouth feel was carbonated, but not to much, with faint apple hiding behind the initial hoppy taste. i could pick up on the hidden bready yeast right before the hopps kicked in. its labled as a ale on the label, and i would have called it an ale too. as it became oxygenated the apples became more dominate to the tongue. it took on a more apple cider type of corbonation. overall it was'nt bad i enjoyed it and would recomend to those newly discovering craft beers.

Bomber into pint glass

O – OK but not memorable, a bland easy drinking Frenchie I will not buy again, perhaps a baby step for the BMC drinker, no love, maybe like but that’s probably an overstatement also, a weak 3

Appearance - 3.5/5 - Nice color (nearly matches the bottle's color). Pours with a white head that quickly fades away.

Smell - 3/5 - Not picking up much aroma. Just the faint sign of lager.

Taste - 3.5/5 - Dry lager taste. Not "too much" of anything. Almost like grain flavored water. Doughy/bread that quickly disappears.

Mouthfeel -3/5 - Refreshing feel that goes down easy and disappears just as fast.

Overall - 3/5 - Overall, neither a good nor bad beer. For an Amber lager, I've only ever tried one other, and this one is superior, but far from something I would seek out. But would definitely drink one if it were given to me.

The cool bottle is by far the best part of it. :)

Pours light amber with a white fizzy head. No retention, no lace.

Light caramel notes, some light vegetal bitter notes.

Light caramel and malt, some light hop bitterness, some sucrose sweetness, a little malt on the palate with light bitter in the finish.

Medium body, could use a bit more carbonation.

A food washer at best. Nothing special, but not hateful. But you can do better.

A: Clear light copper in color, the beer has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high white head that slowly died down and left some patches of bubbles on the surface along with a ring of bubbles around the edge of the glass and left some rings of bubbles running down the sides of the glass.
S: There are light aromas of malts and apple cider in the nose along with hints of earthy yeast.
T: The taste has flavors of grainy and caramel malts along with a bit of sweetness and hints of apple cider.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and a bit smooth on the palate and has a low to moderate amount of carbonation.
O: Although nothing really stands out about the taste, this beer is very easy to drink and goes down easily.

1 pint 6 fl oz brown glass bottle with swingtop served into De Molen stemware in low altitude Los Angeles, California. Reviewed live.

A: Pours a one and a half finger head of slight cream, light thickness, and bad retention. Colour is a semitransparent copper.

Sm: Cream, light toasted malt, and caramel. A mild strength aroma.

T: Cream, toasted malt, and light caramel. Pretty simple. Fairly balanced and decently built.

Mf: Smooth and wet, but a bit too thin. Partly complementary of the flavours.

Dr: Drinkable but very unremarkable. I wouldn't pursue it on draught or anything. I like that it's a swingtop.

Picked up a bottle in a pick-six sampler.

A - Pours a rich copper, slightly less than one finger head which quickly dissipated, leaving some lacing.

S - Malty, with a light hop aroma

T - Certainly not what I expected. More of a lager taste, with a little bit of bitter in the aftertaste.

M - Smooth, light.

O - Nothing spectacular, but not a bad beer. Would possibly be a good beer to introduce a non-craft beer drinking friend to a brew not sold in every convenience store in the U.S. - tastes very similar to a traditional "lawnmower beer" with just a little more hops.

Make a good (interesting) bottle for some homebrew.

I will be honest, I was not expecting much but getting a cool bottle to put my homebrew in. This is a great beer compared to mass produced beer. Great Session beer too.

A-coppery brown, like a yueng ling lager.

S-malt has some lager smells too even though it is an ale, or so it says. A little on the grainy side but not bad

T-malty, smooth nice and light

M-like a light beer

I got an awesome bottle to put much better brew in. It was drinkable. That is pretty much it.

M-easy drinking

Poured chilled in ale glass

A: thin head; average brown; no lacing; cool bottle!
S: malty, light, nondescript
T: amber, spicy, mildly hopped; this is a mellower, richer version of a Euro dark ale

Not fantastic; but I was expecting a terrible beer, and it's not that. The bottle has a plastic stopper on it, and it can be reused for all sorts of things, including hot sauce.

A - Poured clear amber color with big frothy head that quickly dissipated leaving moderate lacing around the glass.

S - Slight hint of malts, grains and a little earthiness.

T - Sweet malts to start transforming into bready yeast with grains and a slightly earthy bitter finish.

M - Light bodied with high carbonation.

O - Nothing special about this lager. Just an average brew. I would not recommend it.
