Fischer pours a very pale straw colour with little head and even less intrigue. Right from the start I´m not sure if I´ll enjoy this - but that definitely won´t stop me from trying.

The smell is sour and fruity with not much malt or hop presence despite this being, well, a beer.

I´m reminded of the days when I used to drink American Adjunct Lagers at night on the golf course when I taste Fischer. It´s better than Labatt Blue and Molson Canadian, but not by much. The taste is quite sour and completely lacks the malt and hop notes I´ve come to expect. Maybe this just isn´t my style.

Mouthfeel, on the other hand, is actually a strong point for Fischer. Very nice carbonation with a hint of Heinecken aftertaste. Not bad.

Overall, I won´t recommend this to anyone who actually appreciates beer.

A-2cm white head high, lasting for about one minute. Color is pale, darker, medium carbonation.

S-Sweet grains and even a bit sour at times. It also has a yeast aroma.

T/M-Have some strange taste, like you drinking beer and some short drink at the same time. Also there is some low sweetness and high carbonation.

O-Nothing too excited, but it is decent beer.

650ml bottle served in a tulip glass.

A: Pours a golden yellow color forming a solid white head. Medium to low retention and only few lacings left in the glass

S: Sweet grains, Lager yeasts and flowery hops, mainly. A bit of alcohol in the very end

T: Slightly sweet upfront. A bit ashy sensation and a bit metallic too. Sweet grains, Lager bready yeasts. Biscuity. Citric, mild bitter and a bit earthy hops in the end

M: Light body and medium carbonation. Sweet grains and slightly bitter aftertaste

O: Average European Lager

from notes
A - Straw gold soapy white head retained decent with some random lacing
S - Grainy malt with light fruity and earthy notes
T - Raw grains with a mineral tartness, some mustiness, fruit and boozy flavour, not bad but not altogether pleasant
M - Medium body and a litte flat with a minerally feel that drys out
O - started with a glimmer of hope but its a very average brew

650ml swinging pop top poured into tulip 23/2/12

A clear golden liquid with a few suspended particles being moved around by very few bubbles but somehow a nice tight bone white cap that retains well leaving a single ring of lace

S smells like a corny malt liquor without the solvent, a little fruity toffee but not much going on here

T somewhat sweet and just a little shunky but not too offensive, just a little booze but again not that bad but not that good either

M medium bodied but a little flat, leaves my mouth feeling slimy with a corny aftertaste

O pretty average stuff but I finished my big bottle without problems

Not something I'd bother with again, I'm pretty sure the French make better wine then beer

It pours a nice medium coppery golden colour, with a thin but not insubstantial head.

The smell is slightly creamy, and dominated by smooth malt aromas and a faint kind of graham cracker smell.

The taste is broad and malty, with some biscuity aspects and a hint of sweetness. Nothing too complex here. It's a bit heavy on the carbonation for my taste, but that's a minor criticism.

Overall, this is a nice lager that stands out a bit from other typical European beers. At the same time, it isn't exactly memorable.

Surprisingly floral, hoppy, and clean- this fresh from the tap Fischer Blonde turns very refreshing to meet the demands of the traditional Greek salad that accompanied with dinner. Grainy-sweet flavor showcases best the taste of lightly kilned pilsner malt, fresh baked breads, and slight powdered sugar. Balanced with grassy hop bitterness, the highlight of hop character is in the floral nose and early flavor that resembles honeysuckle. With a finish that's very clean, refreshing, and somewhat minty in its alcohol and grassy elements- this is a gem of a beer.

500ml bottle acquired in Belfort, France, and poured into a Guinness brewhouse series true imperial pint glass. Reviewed live.

A: Pours a three finger head of very slight cream, decent thickness, and average retention. Clear darkish yellow colour. So few carbonation bubbles it makes me wonder if it's adequate.

Sm: Heavily nutty with some pleasant cream. Extremely nutty for a BLONDE. (This whole 'Euro Pale Lager' shenanigery has got to stop. Let's let the brewery have some say in what style the beer they brewed is, and stop insisting on authoritative "norms" that are largely unsubstantiated by brewing methodology).

T: Nutty with a cream and nut hop climax, followed by a lingering cream finish. Three simple acts that are effective but unfortunately not bold. Almost overly creamy for the style, and with a musty barley third act that is rather unwelcome. Built in an average manner and off-balance in that the first two acts comprise the majority of the flavour. All things considered, it's pleasant.

Mf: I wish it were crisp to match the expectations of a good rendition of the style, but alas, lads, it is not. Too smooth. Adequately wet. Too thick and a bit syrupy, limiting its ability to refresh. Doesn't quite match the flavours of the body.

Dr: Not well priced, not high quality, and not high ABV. Leave this one on the shelf, lads.

Appearance - Hazy caramel amber body is darker than most lagers, let alone pale lagers. Small amount of visible carbonation. Lots of sediment/floaters dispersed equally throughout. Short white head with low retention.

Smell - Sweet, light and nutty. Honey. Smells quite a bit like a blush wine. Leave it to the French to make a beer like that...

Taste - Dry as hell. Has a bit of sourness to it. Tastes a whole lot like a gueuze. I almost suspect this has been mislabeled as a Euro Pale Lager. Noticeable alcohol. Tastes like an 8% ABV, even though it's only 6%.

Mouthfeel - Light and a bit astringent.

Overall Drinkability - This might be interesting and go well paired with food, due to the uncharacteristically potent dryness. As a session beer, I think it falls a bit flat. It's not an easy beer to drink. This beer was probably designed for people who'd rather be drinking wine. I'd rate it within style, but the beer itself isn't even within the style. So the rating here is pretty much just personal opinion.

660ml bottle, really common in italian supermarkets

A- Cloudy golden, nice head that dissipates almost immediately

S- smell is strong: crisp, a bit fruity and a hint of grape. Maybe a little to sweet and pungent

T- This is not the usual pale lager. Sour taste upon an overall sweetness (a little annoying after a while). Hops are not strong but give a good balancing

M- Mouthfeel is quite complex for a lager. This is probably due to the adding of glucose syrup. It gives the beer its own particular feeling but it also makes is too sweet

D- Very drinkable but quite boring after some sips

This is not a bad beer, it has its peculiar personality. Of course you can have much better with much less money

I bought a single pint 6oz swing top bottle for $4.99 from Woodman's in Rockford, IL in late 2010.

You almost know this isn't going to be good just from the smell of it. Pours a light amber color with a strong scent of malts. With the scent of malts being so strong it is as expected continues into the taste as well. This ended up being a lot weaker than I thought it would and left a rather undescribable aftertaste. You do eventually get used to the taste after a while. I like trying new things but this is nothing that I would praise as being a good beer.

66 cl grolsch style bottle served in an Italian pizzeria.

A- Slightly cloudy and gold in color. Two finger head dissipates to scant lacing.

S- Hay, corn and very faint hops

T- Corny sweetness pervades this beer, but not to the point of being cloying. Metallic hops come through to remind the beer enthusiast what hops extract really tastes like. The finish is dry and not all together unsatisfying.

M- Appropriate carbonation for the euro lager style, although typically too much for me.

D- This is not a bad beer for the style, but that's not really saying much. This beer competes with Carlsberg and Heineken, two extremely mediocre offerings universally available outside of the real beer-drinking countries of Europe, and is only inches ahead of them in the taste department.

Fischer, despite the Germanic name, is not inspired by German style beer. It's main ingredients are on the neck of the bottle (water, barley, glucose syrup, corn, hops extract) and it really shows in the finished product. The hops feel synthetic and the addition of corn and glucose syrup is disappointing, making it feel painfully one dimensional.

The antique style bottle promised so much more than this.

I like the bottle. Poured with a one finger head, some lasting power. Lace that is lacy and clings to the bottle. Color is a hazy 10 on the SRM beer color chart. Smells like roasted grain, nothing special here. Taste, much like the smell, cereal grains, malt barley, and maybe one hop. A little better than water, with fizz. Best part was the bottle, I like the stopper. Other than that overpriced lawn work beer.

Nice amber body. The smell is heavy, very malty and converts into a rum-like nose as the beer is gaining temperature.

Taste is sour in the beginnend but then turns over into a well balanced spicy finish with mild hops bitterness.

Very malty beer that combines the bicultural influence of it's region in a positive way.

A=Honey golden with a slightly foamy head (this pour was from the day after opening the bottle).

S=Faint smell of white wine...cannot detect hops or any other "beer" smell.

T=Sweet, with a strong hint of white grape and a light beer flavor. Had I not poured it from a beer bottle, I may have thought that this was a strong, sweet white wine mixed with mead.

M=Good...nice substance, not watered down...sweet carbonation present.

D=I'm referring back to the full glass I had last night...I think the drinkability depends on the accompanying food and season, e.g. I see this as outstanding for a picnic in the hot summer if looking for a sweeter beer than normal. A bit too sweet for me to drink several glasses of.

It poured a hazy straw color with a thin white head.

There was a subtle grainy straw aroma that had a hint of floralness.

The taste was similar to the aroma. It had a straw-like flavor. There was a honey type sweetness that lingered in the back. It also had a very slight sour taste. It was kind of "farm-house" in nature.

It had soft flavors but a surprisingly carbonated bite.

Overall, it was worth a try. Given the style and the other beers that fall in its category this was not a bad beer. The price was okay, maybe a little too much for what's in the bottle, but still decent. I liked this one compared to the Amber. It was certainly better then some other Euro Pale Lagers I know, i.e., Heineken, Stella Artois, and Peroni, to name a few.
