I've been to this bar several times, often on weekends. You walk in to a darkened room with the lower bar sitting in the middle. There are tables surrounding the entire bar, cushioned seats on the other side of the bar when you first look in. Upstairs they have a second, smaller bar with a lot of standing room.
Everyone is welcome at this place. The times I've gone, I've seen mostly the 21-29 age group, sometimes hospital employees working the weekends, people dressed in black and white. It's enjoyable, good place to go with a group and kick back a few. Have yet to try the food.
They've got a great staff. Service is slow on busy nights, but overall they really try to match the energy in the room. I went to Murphy's this past Halloween with some of my buds and all the staff members were dressed in Superhero costumes. It was a pretty neat experience.
Prices are reasonable. Black & Tan's usually run near $6 dollars, other domestic beer's $3 on special nights.

Great location and great setup. Long bar in the middle is host to a great liquor selection, including perhaps the best scotch sampling in town, and a good sampling of on-tap brews (around 40). They have about twice that in bottles, so you won't soon run out of things to try.
These numbers are slightly inflated by some typical domestic stuff ala Miller Light, Blue Light, Labatt, PBR, etc. Nonetheless, they have some great microbrews from all around the country and world, stuff you may not see anywhere else in the area.
Food is both great tasting (probably some of the hottest Buffalo wings in town short of the Ghost wings at The Distillery) and very affordable ($8.50 for a massive club sandwich w fries, $13 for 20 good-size wings). Beers are typical price ($4-6 for most microbrews, less than that for macros, more for particularly exotic ones).
Service is quick every time I've gone, servers are efficient and won't let your glass go dry for long. Overall a great place, among the best in Rochester for the overall experience and perhaps the best for overall value.

I've been here a few times now and I'll keep going back. The beer selection, while not amazing, is very good; a diverse selection of beers on tap and a sizable bottled beers list with lots of good American Micro-brews and some European beers, mostly from England and Ireland. I wouldn't say the food is anything special, but it's solid bar food and I don't have any complaints. Most of their selections (unless you're ordering a dinner entree) are less than $10, which is a plus. The place also has a great pub/bar atmosphere (they have a fully stocked bar in addition to their wide beer selection). There's lots of open space and even a second level with some additional seating. On Friday and Saturday nights the place transforms into almost a club atmosphere - TONS of people. This isn't necessarily a problem, but keep it in mind if you're thinking of going there on a weekend night and sipping some brews.

Huge, amazing Bar. Easily 40 foot long sections, with a mass amount of chairs and tons of Bartenders.
Food is exceptional - I had the Calamari, comes with deep fried Banana Peppers, and it was great.
The beer list, 40 draft and ~80 bottles is pretty awesome. Bit of everything, lots of local stuff, lots of ubiquitous brews, the atmosphere is phenomenal during happy hour.
The Location on E and Alexander is nice since you can hit up ML during Happy Hour, then jet off to another location for further drinking pleasure.
I'll be coming back often.
