I stopped into Bestway while in Greensboro for the day based on the listing here at BA.
I was a little discouraged to find a supermarket but I quickly found it's a serious beer store as well. The selection is vast, well displayed and best of all, everything is refrigerated. They have a very nice selection of CA beers including Moylans, Bear Republic, Lagunitas, Green Flash and Sierra Nevada. They also had a good selection of NC beers with several from French Broad alone. They had lots more top US breweries and a decent selection of Europeans. I was hoping to pick up some Ballast Point Sculpin but it was long gone. The guy that stocked the beer section seemed to know his stuff.
Bestway is my kind of beer store. The selection is great (especially for CA beers) and it's all stored cold. Check it out!

Since the "Great wall of beer" arrived in March, the selection has grown to such an impressive selection. Yet another visit tonight demonstrates not only the selection, but the staff's knowledge. Tonight Ian was the person that helped and we discussed varied selections and styles. I walked away with more than I planned. Note to travelers... bring a cooler or plan ahead. All beers are chilled, unless you let them know in advance and they can accommodate.
A nice addition to Greensboro!

I came here looking for Terrapin's Monk's Revenge, as I heard they still had it in stock. Walk in the door and the beer is on the left side of the store. Holy crap, what a selection!! They did indeed still have some Monk's Revenge, but they also had the #2 side project, Gamma Ray! I grabbed a bottle of that. I continue to look around and there's some corked and caged Double Simcoe. Alright! Grabbed one of those... They carry an insane amount of brews, and this is a grocery store! Crazy. I saw some limited release bottles that were released awhile ago, that I will not mention here as someone else may go and grab them before I can get back there. This store is only rivaled in the area by City Beverage in Winston...on selection. This store, on the other hand, blows CB out of the water on affordability. Prices are much more reasonable here. I think I'm going to make the trek out here more often. Plus, talked to the owner, at least I think it was the owner, and he was genuinely nice and offered his assistance. The guys at CB are helpful, but not always the most warm and friendly. This place rocks!! I will be back again and again.

Although I've driven by this local grocery store many times, I had no clue it had a great selection of beer until some folks here on BA mentioned it. I stopped in for my first of many visits earlier this afternoon and was quite impressed.
I assume the quality was quite good as all of the beer was refrigerated. The beer was all displayed in a huge cooler that spanned the entire side wall with only about 1/3 of the space dominated by macros and common imports. New releases were out, and I didn't spot any past seasonals. The few freshness dates I checked out were legit; didn't see any obviously old beers.
The service was great. There was a guy there making small talk about the brews and we chatted a bit about preferences and the overall selection.
Great selection, lots of stuff that has so far been hard to find in Greensboro such as Ballast Point, Bear Republic, and Moylans. Very well represented American stuff from Rogue, Green Flash, Founders, Weyerbacher, Smuttynose, Stone, Stoudts, and more. Imports were smaller but quality selections. Though German beer was scarce (though still present) there was an excellent selection of English and a well-chosen selection of Belgian beers; quite a few from each country that I've not seen elsewhere. My only complaint is the inability to pluck from six packs, though there are enough singles and bombers to keep me coming back.
Price was great, right there in line with places like Total Wine. Exactly what I'd expect to pay for most of the beers.
Overall this was a surprising gem in the Greensboro area. It has a lot of stuff I'd only previously seen at City Beverage in Winston, but a lot cheaper and obviously a lot closer. I am sure I will be back time and time again. With Pipe and Pint just a few blocks away, these are both great places to hit if you're in the area.

Newly expanding beer store.. Complete line of Founders, Bells, Sweetwater, Stone. Hop Stoopid, Double Simcoe, Victory, Green Flash. just a great selection of IPA's and DIPA's from everywhere. Some German brews which I'm not really all that into, and looks like a decent selection of Belgian brews. He's also going to add some Beer Rags, and is a BA member, who really wants to know what you want. I think that says a lot, and he is probably hamstrung by what's available to the distributors. Some brews are priced exactly to what TW or Pint and Pint charge, some are more expensive. SN ESB is like 15-16 bucks a 12 pack, and 12 bucks at TW. Hop Stoopid was cheaper here than at City Beverage, 2H Ale was the same as TW. IMO the best store in GSO if you like IPA's, Stouts and such.
An addendum: Everything I could want available in NC is here; Period. hence the upgrading.. Roger keeps rolling in new stuff, really expanding list of English Ales if your into it.

Finally a kick ass beer store in G-boro,I have waited for a long while for this.Located in my favorite area of of the city, the Lindley Park area, the new owners of this old store have a liking for real craft beer and it really shows. As you walk in the whole left wall/cooler is beer and good beer (the macros take a small bit at the end of the cooler),just micros galore to many to name and a great import selection to boot with stuff other than Belgian.I grabbed three Hop Stoopids and a mix bag of others ranging at around $60.00 bucks but the credit card machine was down the first time I went and that sucked.Today I went and they were outta the Hop Stoopid but the owner said a fresh shipment is coming in Tuesday,I was still able to grab some quality stuff and will return soon. The prices are very reasonable and its very beer friendly,I'll bere there alot for sure.

I used to go here as a child, I would walk from my house down the road and buy whatever toy I could afford. I recently found this place again after hearing that it had been taken over by new ownership.
I walked in to find that the beer aisle is on the left side of the store and it spans from the front to the back. Currently the store is under some major renovations and right now the beer cooler stands alone, a good 1o feet from the next row of goods. Now even though this is a grocery store it is not like the others around here. I figure since this is not a chain store the owners decide what to sell. I started talking to the owner as he saw me scoping out the selection and asked what I thought. I told him that I was impressed, they have all the major names but craft and foreign too many to list but if its available in the Piedmont you can get it there. He told me that his plan was to have over 100 different types of beer and over 500 titles. He said that he moved here from Cali with his wife and was used to the wide beer selection he could get at the local grocery store. That is what he hopes to emulate.
I wish him luck, I suggest taking a look at this place. The selection is great and it looks like they are open to suggestions. As far as prices they are on par with everyplace else, but if you are going to buy craft beer might as well spend your money locally instead of going to a mass outfit, IMO. I will definately take advantage of its proximity to my grad school and be shopping here.
