I was very happy to find a HUGE selection of beers that you can't find anywhere else. Their beer cooler runs the length of the store... you can find any style of beer and anything you can't find at your average places.
Found some Hop Slam there last night...also picked up a few Belgians for the wife along with some B Nektar Mead.
Love going to this place, it raises the bar for any beer/wine store in the Triad.
They sponsor the Summertime Brews festival every year...good selection of stemware.

Holy crap, the beer selection here doesn't seem to match the rest of the store (which looks to be a low priced grocery). They have serious selection, with enough regional beers to keep a traveller very happy while in town. This was the only store where I found Olde Hickory Imperial Stout (about $10 per bomber), also the lowest prices I saw anywhere else in Charlotte, Greensboro, Hickory, or Winston-Salem for Foothills, Olde Hickory, and Duck Rabbit beers.
Pretty good selection of Belgians, UK, and German beers, also plenty of non-Carolina USA craft. Everything was available in open coolers, the only negative being a bright flourescent light on top (not that big a complaint though).
Come for the prices, stay for the selection.

I've been a long time customer at Bestway and just realized I had never written a review for the place! My apologies. Hands down one of the best stores for craft brew (and unique ice cream) I've ever been to. From my first visit 1 1/2 years ago to my most recent visit just a few weeks ago, they never disappoint. Customer service is second to none! Roger and Leslie are always so friendly! Whether I'm hearing about the latest beers or just chatting about life in general, I always feel welcome. The wall of beer holds an amazing selection of beer from all over the US as well as imported beers. Lots of local NC brewed beers can be purchased as well as specialty beers done in collaboration with Olde Hickory. On top of the great selection, the prices are hard to beat. As one of the more recent reviewers of Bestway stated, Event Horizon is an excellent example of how competitive their prices are. (12.99 a bottle). I highly recommend this place.

I like Bestway alot and it has been my major supplier of brew since I got into "real beer". They have a great selection, a great friendly knowledgeable staff, and prices that are right in line. I've never purchased an outdated brew here (as opposed to Total Whine). One big thing that works out for me is that they open at 7a.m. which is perfect considering that I work 3rd shift (12a.m. - 8a.m.). Roger (the owner) is very knowledgeable and supports the local homebrewing clubs. I'd highly recommend looking them up if you are a local or are in town on business or during the holidays.
One last point I'd like to make is how they are not out to rape you on pricing Example : is the recent release of Olde Hickory's 2011 Event Horizon that was put out @ $12.99, probably the cheapest I've heard of in the Tar Heel state.

Bestway's selection was very impressive, a lot of local brews, local growlers, glassware, etc. This place has a very unique craft beer lay-out. Beers are organized from left to right geographically. You start on the west coast and work your way through North Carolina and Europe, etc. The atmosphere is that of a small, corner grocery until you get to Isle 7,...oh Isle 7! If you are in or near Greensboro please go to Bestway. It is very easy tell that Roger believes in and enjoys quality Craft Beer and he is happy to talk with you about it.

This doesn't look like your typical bottle shop form the outside. The location is a bit random in my opinion because its stuck in a neighborhood, close to a university, with music halls, pubs & bars as its neighbors.
The people here are extremely helpful. Warm greetings as you come in and they are quick to ask if you're looking for a particular brew. I asked about a particular brew and they were quick to respond with an answer and even went into storage to see if they had any more.
The place has a wall of beer!! Its an entire aile dedicated to this wonderful hobby/addiction/indulgence that we have. The selection is great and the value is even better. Some of the best prices I've seen around for craft brews.

This place doesn't look like much from the outside, though that certainly changes once you enter. The majority of the store is for groceries, though the beer selection off to the left will not disappoint. Nice lined cooler with plenty of beer, along with some shelving in the middle of the aisle with a nice selection of Belgian lambic and Fantome saisons.
Up and down the aisle, there's a wide array of U.S. craft and imports. Toward the front is a nice cooler with a pretty diverse growler selection from North Carolina breweries. Atop the aisle is a good amount of magnum bottles to choose from. I was particularly impressed with the amount of Cantillon they had available, and especially the number of Fantome bottles they had in stock. In addition, there was a great selection of glassware.
Service was very good. We didn't have particular beer questions, but the staff member was very friendly and did help us find a spot to eat nearby.
In addition to the huge selection, everything was quite reasonably priced, with some of the lower prices that I had come across. Next time I'm down this way, I'll definitely pay this place another visit.

I expected a great selection based on the not-too-shabby A+ rating here on BA. Nevertheless, my reaction upon walking the very long beer aisle was "Wow." Then "Oh wow!" and then "WOW!" That kind of place.
This would be an otherwise nondescript mom and pop neighborhood grocery store, but in quizzing one of the employees, I found that the guy who owns it now, and as of about a year ago, is a huge fan of great beer and reinvented this place. I'll say. 95% of the stock is refrigerated, and there's a heavy emphasis on the booming North Carolina beer scene, including filled growlers from all kinds of breweries, from Asheville to Raleigh and various other parts. (The atmosphere is similar to John's in Portland, OR, if you've ever been there...an unassuming grocery store fronting what clearly keeps beer as the priority, everything else: afterthought.)
A great selection of Belgians, a couple of which I'd never seen before, a great selection of Scandinavian beers and brewers, other high quality Europeans, lots of English and German selections, and tons of U.S. brews, including Southern Tier in 12 oz. and bombers, something new to this region I believe.
It must have been the owner I bumped into when looking over the growlers, he pointed out that Roth Brewing (whose stout growler I was just about to put into my cart) was a new entry from Raleigh. And offered his help should I need it.
Prices are decent, or at least comparable to Total Wine's G'boro location. And I'm going to be splitting my time between T.W. and Bestway from now on...with Bestway probably having the edge.

This was my first time in since college. Wow, this is not the Bestway of yesteryear! A great beer selection, lots of local stuff!!
Noticed lots of Foothills, Duck Rabbit, OHB, Mother Earth, for locals. Great to see support for the NC Brews! Also noticed Stone, Smuttynose, Great Lakes, Great Divide. A great mix of bottles, cans, bombers and even a mini-keg from OHB?? Thats something new!
Very clean, nice staff, and a great bottle selection, even fair prices. Can I get one of these in Charlotte?

I have visited Bestway a few times in the past month, and continue to be impressed by the place. Upon arrival, the place just seems to look like an old grocery store, and once you walk in, it is an old grocery store, but within this place is quite possibly the best selection of beers in NC. The complete left side wall is full of beer. Plus a small cooler at the front that has local growers. The selection is crazy good, Mother Earth, Olde Hickory Brewery, to The Bruery....It has alot! The staff is super helpful, and some are very knowledgeable. If your anywhere near Greensboro, you have to check out Bestway!
