The restaurant appears to be in a converted commercial garage in downtown New Albany. The community is attempting to clean up the surroundings. Somewhat small, there were plenty of seats on this Saturday Afternoon. The beers on tap were prominently displayed on chalkboards. The beers (all ales) ran from 12 ABV with 100 IBUs to a 3.7 english session ale called "Community Dark." I chose Beak's Best, an american hopped bitter. Service was prompt and the food list was eclectic and surprisingly sophisticated. Pomme Frites served instead of "french fries." I had a prociutto ham and black forest ham sandwich with a fried egg on top. The menu was small but impressive. My particular ale was good, not great. The atmosphere was much better than the original brew house with its loud, smoky pizzeria and bad service.

The Bank Street Brewhouse is located in a garage in a part of the town surrounded by antique stores, sushi joints, and the farmer's market. Along this block also sits a big red New Albanian truck like an ice cream truck for alcoholics. Upon arrival I immediately fell in love with the atmosphere. From the Communist themed beers, the vibrant colors, open garage doors, and the view of the fermenters, this rehouse knows how to create an atmosphere. The service was great with our waitress being extremely knowledgable about everything the brewhouse had to offer. The beer was good with a wide variety of choices from Cream Ale and Russian Imperial Pilsner to Belgian Session Ale and Porter on Cask, with Barrel Aged Solidarity being a great way to end my experience there. The food though, the food was equally on par with the beer if not better. I ordered Duck Wings with Bourbon Bacon BBQ Sauce and was stunned when they arrived. Beautiful presentation matched the equally wonderful and flavorful food I received. It's the best meal I've had at a brewery. This brewhouse will always be a stop for me when I'm passing through the Louisville Metro area.

As mentioned in another review, the Bank Street Brewhouse is housed in an old garage, and as such, has a laid back vibe. Somewhat surprisingly, however, whilst feeling inviting it also manages to provide a sophisticated and contemporary atmosphere. The environment is pleasant, the food exceptional and the beer above average. There were eight beers on draft, ranging from a Russian Imperial Pilsner to an Imperial IPA, and while I enjoyed the beer, I was surprised to find the food to be the highlight of my visit. The menu offers locavore oriented options and is well executed. Overall the Bank Street brewhouse was a wonderful experience, and I'd definitely include it in a visit to the Louisville metro area.
