Served from tap into Trappe Door tulip. Poured a hazy red-orange with a two finger off-white head that subsided to a half finger slowly. Maintained nice lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, earth, earth hop, spice, spicy hop, and subtle citrus. The flavor was of sweet malt, wheat, spicy hop, spice, bread, subtle dark fruit, and subtle citrus hop. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was a pretty decent brew. The sorachi hops definitely shined through on this one throughout. If you are a big fan of spicy hopped brews, this one is for you without a doubt.

John's bottle. A cute Belgian beer with lots of sweet and citrus finish. More Simcoe than Sorachi observed, so orange but also tangerine flavour. Good drinkability. Cloudy orange body with big bubbly head. Sweetish more than hoppy bitter. Medium bodied and smooth.

Poured from the bottle.

The beer poured a nice, cloudy-amber colour. The nose is malty, sweet, yeasty, and slightly hoppy. The taste is pretty intense. It is initially malty and sweet, which moves into a strong hop taste, and finishes with a bit of bitterness. The flavours mesh nicely, but it is definitely an intense combination of flavours. It is slightly reminiscent of Oktoberfest-style beers.

Would I buy it again? Yes.

Nice looking capped and foiled 750ml. Pours out a bright, hazy orange with a bountiful off white head. Nice webbed lacing follows the beer down.

Very interesting smell, though it is a little light. White bread and honey mix with lemon and grass up front. Some caramel and Belgian yeast make up the background.

Bitter grass and bread start off the taste. Lemon and slight pine resin follow. Caramel and yeast are also apparent. Some honey and booze are hinted at near the end. Lighter bodied than I expected, decent carbonation.

I really liked the Belgian Simcoe/Soriachi Ace combo. Very hop forward and impressive.

750 ml bottle into signature tulip glass, best before 8/1/2015. Pours lightly cloudy golden orange color with a nice 2 finger dense and fluffy off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with plenty of streaming carbonation retaining the head; fantastic appearance. Aromas of big lemon, lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, floral, grass, pine, honey, bread, pepper, herbal, floral earthiness, and yeast spiciness; some light estery alcohol as it warms. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of hop, malt, and yeast ester notes. Taste of lemon, lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, pine, floral, grass, honey, bread, pepper, herbal, floral earthiness, and yeast spiciness. Lingering notes of citrus, light fruits, pine, floral, grass, honey, bread, pepper, clove, floral, earthiness, and yeast spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity of hop and yeast esters; with a good balance of malt and spiciness; and zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a lightly slick, sticky, and crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice single hopped Belgian DIPA. Very nice balance and complexity of hop, malt, and yeast esters; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

Yeah, if it's a "special edition", I'm prolly gonna try it... This stuff pours a clear sunrise amber topped by over a finger of cream foam. The nose comprises very light coconut, very light lemon zest, and caramel. Everything is decidedly muted, lighter than air. The taste holds notes of grassy lemon zest, orange zest, biscuit, light toffee, and a hint of Belgian yeast. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a drying finish. Overall, a decent enough BIPA; I think I was expecting something kinda crappy, considering my usual distaste for the Sorachi varietal, but this stuff wasn't half bad, even though I'd still take the usual Magma over this special edition on any given day.

A: cloudy orange with a creamy head. Dissipates quickly.
S: Malty, Bready, sweet, orange/citrus notes, vanilla
T: malty sweet, rounds in the mouth with a bready finish; bitter. Long finish.
M: full bodied, definitely one to sip.
O: Initally, the malty sweetness is great, and very much akin to a great dubbel. But the mouth quickly fills with strong bitterness with even a hint of sourness. The biterness is overwhelming.

750ml bottle poured into a goblet. Dry hopped from Sorachi Ace hops.
A: Pours a hazy orange color with a solid two-finger head
S: Reminds me of lemon ball candy- sweet, but with a pleasant lemon note
T: Initially a sweetness from the malt shows, but then it turns bitter near the finish. Disappointing, though is the absence of any of the citrus notes that were on the nose.
M: Medium bodied, a bit mouthcoating from the sweetness but the bitterness keeps it in check
O: Not a bad beer but far from memorable. While I liked this more than the regular Troubadour Magma, look to Brooklyn for a far better example of what Sorachi Ace hops can do
