Bottle served into 20cl stemware in Antwerp, Belgium. Reviewed from notes taken in July 2010.
A: Pours a two finger head of no real cream, fair thickness, and decent retention. Body colour is a solid dark nontransparent copper.
Sm: Malt. Hops. In the most generic way possible.
T: A bit of cream, caramelized malt, and nice hops. Pretty simple. Balanced well, but poorly built for the style. Bland and boring.
Mf: Smooth and wet. Complements the flavours. Carbonation and thickness are not ideal.
Dr: Easy to drink but highly priced by local standards. Quality is decent, but this is largely a forgettable beer.

Pours a clean amber color with a light tan head. In the aroma, perfumey and a bit sweet. In the taste, bitter and floral, with a yeasty backing. A small hop bite and medium bodied mouthfeel, with a small dry floral aftertaste. A nice small bite and yeasty, quite easy to drink.

Troubador Speciale has a hazy orange body with a slim white head on top. Retention and lacing are both fairly weak.
Not the most powerful aroma, but some fruit esters do come through.
Fruity up front, with mostly a generic fruit flavor that focuses on light fruits. The malt is bready and slightly sweet.
Pretty light body and moderate carbonation.
I have very little to say about this one. Fairly inoffensive, maybe even pleasant, but there is not very much going on. I do know that the price for a tulip of this was very high, and way overpriced for what I got out of it.

Poured on tap at Pizza Paradiso Dupont into a tulip glass.
A small white head is presented on top of a dull caramel orange. Body color is pretty dark.
Nose is incredibly wet and very clean, but also extremely closed. This is pretty dead here with some light malt but not much else. It sure doesn't smell like a Belgian pale ale.
Taste is a kind of muted waxy hop and pine. Wet bodied with a grape vinouis character and some mild fruity banana.
Overall this is weird, dull, a bit boring, and kind of bizarre for this style. Have no desire to try this again whatsoever.

On tap at a beer bar in DC. Not on beeradvocate so I added it. Beer is yellow to amber and really hazy, thin white head, small and medium bubbles, some lacing but low carbonation and low retention.
Aroma is cidery and weak.
Beer is medium to light in body and sweet on the front. The finish is mildly dry but the overall beer is rather plain. There is a mild fruit ester palate to the whole thing but nothing too special overall. I was bored with this beer from first sip.
