Wow no reviews... proud to be the first. So after a visit to the NC zoo, we stopped in to downtown Asheboro, and stumbled upon Lumina Wine and Beer. What a nice little place was the first impression. Upon inspection of the beer cooler (and the wine rack for the old lady) ...wow. So much top quality stuff is packed into so few square feet. Also, there is a small bar where wine is served by the glass along with high end cheeses.

While the is currently no beer served on premise, we were told that it was to come in the near future in the form of an outdoor area.

Anyhow picked up some bells, rare Dogfish, Founders, and some of the hard to come by (in Roanoke) Sierra Nevada Torpedo. Decent prices on individual beers (except bombers a little pricey) great prices on sixers and glass ware.

This is a wine bar that offers a small but nice selection of craft beers for folks that prefer a "bottle of brew" over a class of wine no draft here although that may change as a brewery (Four Saint's) will be opening in the town in the near future. Asheboro has not had on premises consumption of alcohol for that long a time, but in the last year evenings in downtown Asheboro have greatly improved, you now see folks out dining and having a good time after dark, before the downtown area would be empty. Lumina has had a bit to do with downtown coming back to life and hope's are that they will get draft, proper glassware, and help educate folks on just how good craft beer is.

Visited briefly 9/9/2011. Agree with first reviewer, especially the statement along the lines of how much good stuff is packed into limited space.

The outdoor patio is fully functional. They serve beer on premises - no drafts, but you can crack open any of the chilled bottles (75-80 different offerings including Uinta, DFH, North Coast, Mother Earth, Stone, Chimay, etc)

Really friendly staff. Great, select wine collection.

An oasis buried in the heart of Asheboro (we are also here to bring the little one to the NC Zoo)
