I love to come here. It is a little pricey, so its one of those place where you look forward to enjoying once in a while.

The taps are always good. They've had Pliny on almost every time I go, and if not, their flights make up for it. The bottle list is extensive and pretty damn good. They host events here for LA Beer Week with some pretty big names and they also get Pliny The Younger.

Food is great. The chef always creates courses inspired by what they have on tap and they are always very tasty.

This restaurant is fantastic!!! They have an amazingly broad selection of high-quality beers to choose from, whether you're searching for a lovely sour ale or a refreshing saison, you can count on Bottle Room to deliver. The food is SPECTACULAR and the happy hour specials won't break the bank. Tony is a culinary master whose burgers, salads, beer-battered onion rings and homemade spicy barbecue sauce will make you an instant regular. Save room for the bread pudding... just trust me on that one.

Great food, including excellent burgers and small plates that goo good for food. Great beer selections, with the drafts focusing on domestic craft beers. The bottle selection branches out into more foreign beers. However, beers change so rapidly that you cannot going expecting anything. I guess this is nice that you branch out, but sometimes there is not even a basic IPA on tap (rare, but still). Service is very friendly, but can get a bit slow if you have table service. There is a small lounge/coach area in back for gatherings.

I came to this place on a Saturday night after coming from another city after having dinner. Finding parking on a weekend night in Uptown Whittier can at times be a pain. So if you are not from this area, good luck. When I came into this place I was really digging their patio area in the front of the restaurant, had a very Hollywood cafe vibe. When I found a place to sit near the bar I was immediately greeted by a server who was ready to get our orders. The only problem is, I arrived a few minutes before 10pm and they already were having last call. My party was able to get 1 round of drinks then had to close out. Their pint prices were okay, some of the bottled beers were very overpriced. However due to rarity of the bottles, I wont knock them for it. I would definitely go back, but I would have to go early.

Funny how the required rating fields for a place can be misleading. In this case, the Bottle Room ranks high in several key areas; quality service, selection, and food.

Then, you get to that tricky final category - value - which undoes most of the good ratings in the other categories. In other words, the beer list is extensive and food pretty good, but the prices? fuhgettaboutit!

An example is the $5.99 that I paid for a bomber of Stone Belgo Imperial Stout Anise, which at the Bottle Shop costs $14. DISCLAIMER: True, a triple mark up from wholesale is pretty standard for restaurants that serve wine. I guess I'm a Cheap Charlie when it comes to triple mark ups and that goes double for beer!

That said, if you're a person accepts the 3x concept, the Bottle Shop is pretty decent. We had the Chorizo flatbread and it came back hot, cheesy and savory.

The beer selection is well represented - an array of decent Belgians, local breweries and beermakers from the eastern seaboard.

They do have Happy Hours where the tap prices are dropped $2 bucks.

Stopped in here after work last week as I was leaving a job site in Whittier.

Located in downtown Whittier (a surprisingly cool place), this has a very upscale feel to it. A nice list of American craft beers on-tap as well as some imports. That said, nothing too out of the ordinary.

The one downside of this place is the pricing. The draft beers are all about $7 or $8 a pour, which is a bit rich for my blood. At least the staff was friendly and prompt, though.

I didn't eat anything, but people seemed to be enjoying the food they were being served, and it looked appetizing.

I might stop in here again, but I would think twice about it with their prices.

The bottle room is located on what I would descrbe as a cross between an oldtown main street, or a small industrial strip from the 40's. Basically the street has character, and the bottle room fits in with that. A bit more trendy and hip then say 6740 across the street, but still a clean, and well organized place.

Service was good, sat at the bar, and they had just opened. Nice tap selection, over 20, as well as a lot of bottles for sale as well. They had a limited food menu that day, and what they had was pretty tasty, but small portions, and bit pricey, more like tapas or appetizer style food, hence the value.

Was there one time as well when we had a flight of the Bruery's christmas beer series, Partridge in a Pear tree, two turtle doves, barrel aged two turtle doves, and Three French Hens. Patrick Rue showed up dressed as Santa Claus (and I mean the full getup, head to toe) pretty cool if you ask me.

There was some media promotion interviewing Jonas I think too, for an online blog, name escapes me though. Anyhow, a good spot in the area.

One Note: Did not eat, so gave it 3.5 based on the great smell of the mac n' cheese the guys sitting a few spots down at the bar was eating as well as others reviews on food. Will amend next time I'm there to eat Lunch and enjoy a sip!

Nice old part of uptown Whittier than has been going thru a transformation now for years. A small patio with a few tables out front if you'd like to people watch. inside is approx 20' x 50' area. Old rough brick walls and exposed plumbing and air above. Low lighting. seems they could use a little more on the walls. It's a bit bare but not uninviting.

A bit slow at lunch, only 4 - 6 people so service was immediate and friendly. Girl behind bar knew her brews and helpful to anyone asking about beers and their profiles. she also made to note that Pliney the elder was now on tap! I'll be back for that soon. Note: parking on the streets is limited so you may need to use public park lots during prime nite time hours.

A Very Good selection of 24 brews on tap and 80+ bottle. On tap brewers like: russian river, lost abbey, poet brewing, mikkeller, stone, green flash, great divide, unibroue...bottles on the menu from same as well as chimay, dogfish head, alpine, orval, la trappe, the bruery.

as I said above...smell of the mac n' cheese was hard to resist, but I did. will try food another lunch hour soon.

Overall a bit pricey, but worth checking it out for the very good brew selection. I had a 12oz Alesmith X $7

Atmosphere:
Nice mid level beer bar for the up and coming beer geeks. It's not a roomful of beer snobs that'll make you feel like a retard for ordering a hefe. Pretty casual. You can spot a couple hot girls chugging chimay red so that's always a plus. =)

Service:
Service is always a tough one to rate. The chipper bartender seems to be pretty knowledgeable. You'll know who i'm talking about when you see him. He's a cool dude. The waitresses are very friendly but not very savvy when it comes to the beer on tap/bottle. Don't go in there asking for batch numbers of RR Consecration or Supplication. Leave that shit for your Toronados, Beachwoods, and trappist bars.

Selection:
Good selection. You'll find a lot of top american craft, german weiss's, as well as limited releases of Mikkeller, brewdog, Nogne in bottles and occasionally on tap.

Food:
Foods pretty awesome. that's the only thing that keeps me coming back to this place. Everything on the menu is pretty fantastic. Chef Tony know's his stuff. Real friendly guy. He's usually tucked away in the corner planning some sort of beer dinner. They've hosted reasonably priced Stone, Bruery, Lost Abbey beer dinners. I've missed every one of them but i've heard they're pretty amazing.

Value:
IN MY OPINION...The only tiff with BOTTLE ROOM is the price. Flagship beers like Stone PALE/IPA, Bear Republic XP, Bruery White Orchid $7. Fine..no problem. $8-$12 for sought after or limited release beers drafts is a bit much. Don't get me wrong, I've dished out ridiculous amounts of cash on multiple bottles of limited released Russian River, Cantillon, Cascades, etc. But $12 for a 4 oz. pour of Lost Abbeys Angel Share is cruel. I'm sure premium kegs are expensive but really, does it have to be marked up that much? Again, this is only my opinion. If you're willing to spend $30 bucks for Beer Geek Breakfast, go for it.

Overall:
If you're in the area, definitely check it out. It's the best beer bar/restaurant in this part of town as long as you are willing to shell out a couple $$$ for a good session.

A friend of mine suggested we give this place a try since it's emphasis seems to be on beer. I'd never heard of it.
When I entered I was pleasantly surprised to see 24 taps all featuring craft beer, no Bud, Miller or Coors at this place! in addition they had an extensive bottle selection full of rare, domestic and imported beers.
Tony, the owner, was very cool and great to talk to, Jennifer who was working behind the bar was charming, lovely and really knew her beer.
We also tried their flatbread and watermelon and cucumber salad which were both fantastic. Look for this place to gain as much popularity as Beachwood BBQ, Haven and Hollingsheads.
Very Impressive!!
