McAuslan Brewing is part of Montréal's 1st generation of micro-breweries. It built its reputation by brewing several very sessionable ales, like the classic McAuslan Oatmeal Stout and St-Ambroise Pale Ale, along with a few seasonal offerings. It is now more of a large regional craft brewer than a micro-brewery but still maintains an interesting palate of brews and has recently added a terrace adjacent to one of Montréal's busier cycle paths so enthusiasts and newbies alike can enjoy their brews on tap in a relaxed urban setting without worrying about parking.

The entrance to their terrace is a bit sketchy, gravel parking lot with potholes beside the brewery. In the back are stairs leading to the terrace itself. It`s nice but the view of the old industrial buildings doesn`t mesh well with the laid-back vibe they are trying to project. Their standard line of products was available which disappoints me. I can get these beers on tap everywhere in the city. It would have been nice if they would have at least one brewery exclusive beer. Alright i guess but nothing to go out of your way for.

The terrace at the Saint Ambroise brewery on the canal is a nice place to enjoy a beer on a nice day. During normal hours it is nice but nothing amazing, however when they have parties or festivals it becomes a really nice place. It is located right on the canal which is really cool and adds to the environment.
The selection of beer is nothing to complain about but the prices are up there. The food selection is pretty poor.
Overall it is a cool place and fun to visit but nothing to go out your way for. If you like Saint Ambroise then go.

A hidden value. This place is open only in good weather and serves 5 taps of fresh beer, behind the brewery. Lots of free parking. ot too far from the Atwater Market. The 5th tap is always the seasonal, however the were going to serve the IPA later in the week and only in bottles. Basic hot dogs and fries food, everything reasonably priced. Good sized area for a tasting room, it would be good to be better sheltered. Again, out of the way somewhat for tourists unless you are visiting the Atwater market, and then connects up to the highway to get out of town.

When I discovered they had a terrace next to Canal Lachine and the bike path, I got really excited. I've always been a McAuslan fan but was a bit disappointed by this ''brewpub''. It's not really a brewpub, it's just a place next to the brewery where you can enjoy some of their beers. Beers you can find in stores and many bars. They don't even have all of them on tap.
Tenders often know very little about beer but are kind of friendly.
Some of the brewery staff does hang out there so you can talk to them. Beers are as expensive as in any other bar (7$ a pint if I remember right) and food... well chips and salsa or barbecued hot-dogs if you're lucky and they're making them.
The location is very cool though. It's just a nice, outdoor place to be. They also have concerts for local acts which are often free. I also find McAuslan makes pretty good beer so I do go there often. I just wish they'd care a bit more about the beer instead of just making it a cool place for hipsters, cyclists and families.
Maybe offer a special tap with a beer lover's beer. (RIS anyone?)
