From a 341 ml brown bottle, out of a 4-pack. Pours out a hazed marmalade hue, with a tall loose creamy white head that retains well and slowly settles.

Bready, biscuity malt on the nose, with some cakey malt sweetness, accompanied by pleasant floral and herbal hops, touches of orange.

Nice balance found in the flavour. Starts off with bready, cakey malt, quickly joined by mild yet abundant herbal and grassy hops that tend to dominate the rest of the way, yet never overpower. Some spicy hops near the finish and into the aftertaste.

Medium-bodied mouthfeel, somewhat slippery texture with a rather assertive amount of carbonation.

Enjoyable take on the English IPA variety, great balance between the malt and hops, and equally impressive refinement behind the hop presence itself. Another solid offering from McAuslan.

Served in a pint glass from a 341ml bottle.

Appearance is nice golden orange with lots of carbonation and a couple finger widths of head.

Smell is less hoppy than I expected, although for an English IPA this makes sense. More of a bready smell to it, but quite gentle.

Taste is bready, herby, and a little citrus, with a really dry finish.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with lots of carbonation.

Overall a solid English style IPA.

Poured from 341ml bottle.

I was expecting a hoppy beer and i didnt really get much hoppiness. Due to the giant hop nuggets on the label i was waiting for a bitterness hit or even some nice aroma that never came. It's definately an english style IPA and probably true to an "old fashion" english IPA as oppose to an American IPA of todays standard. More just an expectation and marketing issue for me.

Originally had this at some cool restaurant in Quebec city. The missus and I wanted to get some good food, and to my surprise, they had this on tap. It was really nice on tap, so I bought a few bottles from the supermarket down the road. Quality.

From a bottle into a snifter

APPEARANCE: Pours a one finger, medium looking, white head with good retention. Clear burnt orange in color with no carbonation evident. Head fades to a good wisp. A splotchy wisp remains until the end but leaves no real lacing down the glass.

SMELL: Pale malts, caramel, with some nice honeydew melon as well. Watermellon and a hint of cantelope as well. Pretty fruity and nice for sure.

TASTE: Follows the nose nicely. Pale malts, caramel flavors, and lots of fruity stuff all over the place. Watermellon, cantelope and honeydew melon with some floral bitterness at the swallow. Bold and lingering aftertaste of caramel, melon sweetness and a nice floral bitterness. Quite good really.

PALATE: Medium-full body and medium levels of carbonation. Creamy on the palate, goes down smooth and finishes slightly dry on the palate. Solid feel.

OVERALL: Good stuff all around. This is a nice English style IPA with a solid American twist. Glad I ran into this one and was able to get some at the shop down the road. Will have to look for this one again if I'm in La Belle Province again next year. Quebec is always so lovely. Cheers!

Hazy deep orange colour, just under a finger of white head, some decent lace as well. Smell is malty and bready, earthy grassy hop, caramel and toffee and a light hint of lemony citrus as well. Taste is big and bready, light butter and floral hops, bitterness rolls in mid palate and is quite drying, citrus, finishes lightly sweet and malty. Medium body, medium carbonation. Not a bad english IPA but not something I will actively seek out again, would probably order this if I saw it on tap somewhere though, 6.2% ABV well hidden.

Bottle from Sammy, 341ml into a tulip.

Unfiltered dark orange with a white head. Decent lacing and mild retention. Nose is bready, lost of caramel and earthy malt qualities. Grassy and herbal hops notes. Taste has some bitter citrus and herbal hops, citrus rinds and less malt than the nose led on. Bready with sweeter caramel notes again. A bit earthy and leafy. Herbal bitterness linger. A tad lighter than medium body, and decent medium carbonation. I've had better for the style, this was OK at best.

Pours a lightly hazy orange color. The frothy head lasts a long time and musters up a good amount of foam on the glass. Earthy, woody Goldings hops fill the nose, with a mineral edge and a good dose of bready malts. The taste is the same earthy hops and chewy, doughy malts mixed with a light diacytel buttery element. The mouthfeel is prickly with carbonation and medium bodied. The finish is lightly bitter and malty.

A very nice example of an English IPA. No punches are pulled in the hop department like many examples of the style. I recommend this.

Appearance. Pours a pretty clear gold amber with over a finger of head that leaves some lace behind.

Smell. Honey, earthy hops, peaches and grapefruit with some light toasted grains.

Taste. Really herby hops, some sweet light grains and a little citrus. Pretty dry finish with some lingering bitterness.

Mouthfeel. Below medium in body with medium+ carbonation.

Overall. A well made ipa, just not a big fan of the hops being used.

since this came out of the newly arrived Winter mixed 12 pack you would think it would be reasonably fresh tasting but I detected slightly cardboard notes in the finish which ruined the beer for me as the hop levels are not that high in this IPA( more English than PNW). The beer seemed to lack focus which is strange considering how great the Pale Ale is for the style.
