Poured from bottle to goblet.
A: Thick, pitch black color, dark creamy head that fades semi quickly
N: Some porter nose, chocolate malt, little coffee, a little alcohol, roasted malts, slight oat
T: Taste starts with bitter dark chocolate but not overbearing, a slight coffee, some rich malts and oats, a sweet molasses blends in the middle, some dark fruits like raisin and plum in the center, a little creaminess fills it out with some burnt brown sugar, pretty rich and complex
M: Semi thick with average carbonation but gets sticky towards the end
F: Finishes a little sweet and with some bitter dark chocolate, its hard to tell if the bitter comes from hops or earthy charred malts, but doesn't stick around for too long as it leaves you ready for more
Final thoughts: Pretty good for an oatmeal stout. Doesn't try to be overbearing, but has enough complexity. It would be a great go-to for the oatmeal stout style. Good oats, sweetness, chocolate and roasted malts, little creamy. If you haven't had it before I would recommend. Great for a darker session beer surprisingly.

A: Clear black cola topped with a tan billowy head, plenty of retention of variable bubbles - right to the last drop.
S: Malts with chocolate, sweet deep dark espresso with just a hint of hops on the back end.
T: Deeply toasted malts with acrid espresso and dry coco nibs. Some hops that balance the malts, the smooth malts are the shining star and the hops act like salt in a dish - they elevate and improve on the smooth rich flavour.
M: Medium body with a dryness that sticks to the palette and after taste of dark toast with just a hint of hops.
O: An excellent example of an oatmeal stout that's versatile, terrific for drinking and cooking in stews & breads. Big flavour that offers plenty to enjoy.

St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout has a rather thin, tan head and a very dark brown (black, really) appearance, with a good amount of lacing left behind on the glass. The aroma is just wonderful- rich, sweet, bready, candy-like malts are all there. Taste is of quite bitter, dark-roasted malts, dark chocolate, dark coffee, and some sourness. Mouthfeel is surprisingly light and somewhat watery, and St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout finishes dry, refreshing (if you can believe it), and drinkable. This is a fabulous beer, and a must-try beer!
