Poured into a pint glass on tap @ Hop Valley

A - Pours a hazy orange w/ 1 finger white head that fades slow to a thin cap w/ great lacing

S - Smells of grapefruit rinds, citrus, light resin & pine, papaya, fresh cracked pepper, sweet malts and tangerines.

T - Taste follows the nose. Spicy, resiny, pine cones, citrus fruits, juicy, light malty sweetness.

M - Big bitter semin dry finish against a malty back bone that holds its own, smooth.

O - Good DIPA, big malt backbone to support lots of hops, nose is a little too light, may have been the improper glass ware though.

22 oz. bomber

A: Clear copper body, 1.5 fingers of off white head.

S: Smoothe floral and citrus, some sweet caramel. Not a super robust aroma.

T: Nicely smoothe and clean. Sweet but a strong fruity bitterness balances it out. Well balanced IIPA. Just when you think one note seems to be taking over, the other jumps in to balance it out. More pine notes are coming out as it warms. Finishes fairly dry and bitter.

M: Medium-full body.

O: Big sweet hoppy battle between hops and malt. Sweet, bitter, piney, citrusy and delicious. Very much enjoyed.

Thanks to VoodooImpStout for sharing this one at my tasting.

Pours a murky orange with a foamy bone colored head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots and streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus zest, and some earthy and herbal hop aromas. Taste is much the same with an alcohol kick on the finish. There is a medium amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a nice hop presence in the aroma and flavor.

22 oz. bottle.

Mostly clear golden apricot body. Tall, three fingers of thick, whipped, light beige-white head. Great lacing. Lots of pine and citrus on the nose. Grapefruit and lemon oil. Broken white fir needles and orange peel.

Toasted malt soon gives way to citrus and pine hop bitterness. Juicy Fruit gum malt sweetness. Caramel. Sticky, sappy fir needles mix with orange and grapefruit citrus juiciness. Pineapple in the finish, with lingering bitterness. Medium-full body. Nice, slightly syrupy feel with gentle carbonation. Well done.

Had on tap at concordia in Portland after a big meal at tastee's and sons.

A-- half a finger of white head, hardly any lacing, very clear and the color of honey.

S-- very much a sniffer; strong pine, pine sap, freaking pine needles. This is not going to be citrusy, no doubt.

T -- how right I was. This guy is leafy! Maybe lemon on the finish, but you have to work to taste it. The finish goes by too quickly, in my opinion, but it lengthens as it gets warmer.

M -- pretty standard ipa feel. Small carbonation, more linen than velvet.

O -- better than okay, but not a whole lot better. DRINK WARM, way way better.

Served on tap into a shaker glass at the brewpub

A- Poured a dark orange/amber color with a slight haze, frothy head, and left some big chunky lace

S- Fairly faint aroma, bigger sweet caramel, some light citrus and pine notes

T- Big caramel sweetness, some citrus, grapefruit, and pine up front, with more bitterness and some tropical fruit on the finish. Quite a bit of alcohol in the taste. Much more flavor and bitterness on the aftertaste than on the sip

M- Pretty slick, some prickly carbonation, finished fairly dry

O- A nice beer with a much bigger sweet malt presence than hop presence than I like for the style, but a pretty good beer.

Poured into a Gulden Draak tulip. Pours a medium orange amber with a one finger fine white head with good retension and nice lacing. Looks excellent. Aroma of aromatic herbal and piney hops, pineapple and light fruit. Nice citrus, caramel malt up front, fairly complex hop combination on the finish which is slightly dry compared to the start. Very nice hop lingering taste. Nice medium, almost creamy body. I like this one a lot and will buy it again.

Live tasting bomber into Duvel tulip...

Appearance; pours a hazy light brown color with hints of gold and a fluffy and slightly bubbly two finger straw colored head... Rentetion is pretty good, with the head falling to a thin splotchy film after a couple minutes, lacing is out of this world with a thick curtain of lave sticking to the glass all the way down...

Smell; opens right up with mango and pineapple, hints of orange and grapefruit rinds and notes of pine...

Taste; lots of candied citrus rinds, orange, grapefruit and hints of lemon... Lots of pine creeps in at the finish, with an odd soapy bitterness lingering after... Kinda bizarre but not totally off putting...

Mouthfeel; good carbonation! Bright and lively across the tongue, medium bodied with a slightly sticky aspect to it...

Overall; this beer was good, but I wound up penalizing it for the soapy aspect... Not terrible at all, but I could certainly see that becoming overbearing... Were that to be fixed, this beer would be awesome!
