i was passing by and decided to see if they had anything I couldn't get locally. I only live a half an hour away but sometimes you get lucky. i mentioned that i wanted something unique and the manager pointed out sierra nevada and magic hat. while i like both breweries, i don't consider them unique. Obviously, they don't get a lot of knowledgable customers.
Once I proved i knew what i was talking about, things got a lot better. He recommended a Hitachino and a couple of french beers that are very rare in the area.
The selection wasn't very deep but there were a few gems. And since i have family in the area, it's nice to have at least one place where i can buy something other than a Macro.

I found this by accident today, tucked in a shopping center behind a Safeway supermarket. I have been patronizing its younger cousin, Beers and Cheers Too, close to where I work since I moved to the area almost two years ago.

The wide storefront got me excited that this was a huge store but it is shallow inside and more than half wine so, no. Selection and prices are similar but not identical to the G'burg location. A little pricy but this is MoCo. An impressive selection of Maryland brewers was the main takeaway. As the Maryland brewers improve, so will this store. Worth a shot.

Good prices for montgomery county. Friendly customer service. Excellent selection in a county where good selections are hard to find.

This is a nice, small store set in what passes for downtown Germantown. They've used their space well, sequestering a small wing for the macrobrews, to turn a profit. The central part of the store is devoted to craft brews, mainly bombers. Great Belgian selection, and some regional craft brews. There were a lot of beers I hadn't seen anywhere before (e.g., a Japanese white beer). The place is small, so the selection is curated. DFH, Heavy Seas, Victory and a few Pa. breweries are prominent. I found the prices to be about 10 to 20% higher than in DC's Rodman's. I take this to be the price of shopping in Mont. Co. Gilly's in Rockville is more expensive than B&C. So this is a great place to find a specialty, hard-to-find beer.

Entering the store , i was asked immediately if I needed some help in selecting or finding what I was looking for. I asked the guy to give me some suggestions and he really made some great choices. I felt taken care of and appreciated the help.
The collection of beers was very nice and some more hard to get beers were on the shelfs and coolers. In Montgomery County this is not easy to achieve. The prices were normal for this anti alcohol State of Maryland. There is also a great wine selection.
I recommend this store anytime.

When we moved into the area this was the first place we beer store we visited. Not use to a county such as Montgomery, where alcohol laws are strict, having to go to a specific store was something unheard of for us.

The place is fairly small compared to other similar stores I have been into, and seems very crowded with the amount of space they do have. Store is located along a street with store front on one side of it. Beer and cold wines are on one side of the store, with a register in the middle, along with deli counter, and room temperature wines fill out the remaining right portion of the store.

When I went in for the first time I was immediately excited to see some of my favorite Belgians, but other than that was disappointed by their lacking stock of craft brews, even from the local area. There is a "build your own six pack" option within the store, and you receive at -10% savings with this. When I do go into Beers and Cheers I enjoy doing this, rather than paying a little more than I'd like for a 4 or 6 pack of imported or local craft brew. This way I can take a little of this and a little of that and pay roughly the same price or less.

Overall, not too impressed with the setup. I have never been approached on the floor by an employee and seem content standing behind the counter and watching whatever is on the television, ringing me up and sending me on my way.

The two factors I care about most in a beer store are price and selection. Service is a plus. That said, The selection is pretty good, especially in the beer deprived Montgomery County. It is a bit pricey, however. Most of the beers they sell that are widely available are overpriced. They have a decent selection of Belgians and a pretty decent variety of imports. They have some crafts, but they are generally on the pricey side. They have a lot of Samuel Adams beers as well. The staff is pretty helpful, but I have been to beer stores where the salespeople are more knowledgeable about their product. If you live in Montgomery County and are looking for a beer that isn't widely available, this is the best place to go.

Q- overall, nice little shop, always clean, friendly

S- nice staff, had a wine tasting when i went

S- decent selection, a few good beers, not a TON, but theres a few that caught my eye

V- this was weird, some beers were priced nicely per bottle, but then there were others $5 more than other locations i've been to...so it was kind of hit and miss with the prices

overall, i was happy with my visit, i live in Germantown, so if i need a quick fix, its not a bad place to go, but if you're looking for consistent pricing, i would look elsewhere, the selection varies, wish they had more selection and better

I light have gone into this one with too high of expectations. The place would be really cool to live near as they also sell blackest and pizza. Back on topic... the beer selection was well below sharing expected. They did have a few things that I never saw before, but overall count of choices was.well below expectations. A staff member was very helpful and as asking everyone what they needed and was offering suggestions. It might be better than most (all) other beer stores in the area but it falls a little short of greatness.

Searching for a new place where to get diverse brews imported/exported, I came across this store. At first sight I felt like a kid in a candy store for seeing many brews I have been looking for. But nevertheless, I started to look for the rarest and then for common ones out of the whole collection. Well selection of different breweries from Europe, North America; from the US, South, Central and West coast. One thing was a fact that they did not have a large selection of local breweries, just the popular ones. Not such of big place for brews, but a very well displayed diverse selection.

For a county that's extremely deprived of decent beer stores, this place at least provides selection/quality in Germantown, MD that's a cut above the rest.

They have a decent amount of craft brews in the coolers: DFH, Magic Hat, Pumpkin ales, Leinenkugel's sampler packs and some harder-to-find west coast microbrews. They also have a bookcase-like shelf on the wall with all sorts of Belgian bombers. I found an '06 bottle of Chimay Grand Reserve here that's going in my cellar.

Service is very friendly. After evaluating my purchase, I guess he figured out that I was a craft beer drinker and started making good recommendations. Both times I went I was able to strike up a good conversation with the cashier. This place comes highly recommended if you're desperate for a good beer in an good-alcohol-dry Montgomery County, MD.

I discovered this store a few weeks ago. While, mostly for wine drinkers - wine takes up the entire half of the store, it did surprise me with their beer selection, a big surprise given that Montgomery County (Maryland) is primarily a Bud and Corona market.

In addition to a lot of Dogfish Head and Sam Adams (Imperial Pilsner), Beers & Cheers carries plenty of West Coast beers, several Belgian bombers,Samuel Smith and other regionals that can be found in the cooler. They also allow you to mix-n-match singles. It is certainly a fine addition to a once bleak beer destination. While, I can't see myself making a specific trip here, I am grateful for knowing of it.

Updated 8/29/11: On my most recent trip, I picked up a bomber of Full Sail "Bump In The Night," a Cascadian ale. They also sell deli sandwiches as well.

Update November 2011: In addition to a wide array of New Belgium produts, they are now carrying Goose Island, Widmer Brothers and Abita. Everytime I come here, the selection seems to improve.

UPDATE - JULY 2017: They now serve draft beers, about 20 on tap, along with food.
