First had: on tap at Capone's, Norristown, PA
Poured a rusty brown color, clearish, with a thin, wispy head. Not too much going on in the nose, light essence of toasted grains, brown sugar, and indistinct fruit esters. More of the same on the palate, toasted grains, caramel malts, brown sugar, light Belgian sugar and yeast notes, bready, with a bit of a fruity quality, that I guess I could identify as apple skins and grape skins, if nothing else; finish is a little rough with notes of cardboard and mineral. Light-medium body, and not too full on flavor. What's there is average though, so this is a decent beer overall.

On-tap at The Gem and Keystone, Shawnee On Delaware, PA
A: The beer is clear reddish brown in color. It poured with a thin off white head that left a large patch of bubbles on the surface and a ring of bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: There are sweet aromas of candi sugar in the nose along with some notes of dark fruits.
T: Like the smell, the taste is relatively sweet and has some notes of dark fruits. The sweetness almost seems to taste a little artificial.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a bit smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is a relatively good representation of the style but seems like it could use a little more fruit to lend complexity to the taste. The sweetness starts to get cloying as the beer warms up.
