Summer - Captain Jack Pilsner - OMB developed this smooth, refreshing pilsner beer as our salute to the spirit, courage and resolve of Captain Jack and the members of the Mecklenburg Convention (see www.May20thSociety.org for more information). A classic northern German "Pils", this straw-colored lager is smooth, with a subtle yet assertive hoppiness that doesn't overwhelm your palate or the beer's malt backbone. A perfect summer refresher.

Straw with a light haze and large bubbles. Topped with one finger of white foamy head. The smell is a skunk and cardboard, malts, and a hint of candy class. The taste is very malt forward. There’s a nice lively hop quality to it as well. A very nice balance. Medium dry body with moderate carbonation. I purchased this at total wine in Charlotte, North Carolina and I’m drinking it in Waynesville North Carolina, August 4, 2023.

Beautiful straw color with a sudsy white head, there are grassy hop aromas and a nice cracker note from the malt.

The grassy hop flavors are forward and substantial, balanced a bit by the crackery malt flavor and a crisp finish. Nice summer pounder.

Poured from 12 oz bottle into pilsner glass. A thin white heads drops quickly with mild lacing. Color is hazy straw, moderate streaming carbonation. Aroma of grassy hops, yeast, cracker. Mouthfeel is light and leaves sticky residue coating the mouth with a dry finish. Flavor has notes of yeast rolls, cracker, lemon peel, grassy and herbal hops. Overall: good.

Got this on tap at the Charlotte Airport. Very clear with bubbles rising from the bottom. Good tasting pilsner. German style hops on the nose and taste. Good beer.

Drinking this at home.
Poured from a 16 ounce can dated,11/12/20 into a pint glass.
Appears light golden yellow with a nice foamy head that dropped to a thin cap.
Smells floral, lightly bready, lemony,
Taste follows the nose nicely
Mouth feel is medium for the style.
Overall a very nice Pilsener that I would definitely order again.
Cheers!

Very tasty despite unremarkable smell. Enjoyed the look of the yellow 16 ounce can. A good example of the style- and a fine refreshment on a warm Fall day. Captain Jack was one of Billy Joel’s best songs; and it plays in my head each sip!

Crystal clear straw color. Thin white head.
Crisp and smooth with a subtle hoppiness.

When I think beer, I think pilsner. And this is a nice example of what I am thinking!

Several month old can poured into a Willi Becher.

Pours a bright sparkling gold with a moderate head that dissipates fairly slowly.

Enticing aroma. Grassy, floral hops with hint of white bread.

Crisp on the sip. Taste follows nose. Light grassy and floral notes with a tight light malty finish. Not sweet.

Light and effervescent. Lovely.

Just a solid Pilsner from what I think is an underrated brewery.
