Interesting spot, as far as writing a review for a place.
The location is outstanding. Right over the creek, and the outside tables are the place to be. Super nice on a sunny afternoon, which is when I was there.
Beer leaves a lot to be desired, unfortunately. Had their sour wheat and IPA (pints) along with tasters of the other 2 beers they had on tap. Nothing special, and nothing to go out of your way for. As I said, the location is great and a nice spot to get lunch or dinner, but there are better places to get beer in downtown SLO.
Service was OK, not great, but not too bad. If they stepped up the quality of their beers by just a little bit, they would be onto something with their location.
Worth checking out, but don't expect too much from the beer.

I visited Creekside over Labor Day weekend. I headed straight downstairs to the bar area, which is sort of a dungeon atmosphere in my opinion. A bit cramped and dingy and claustrophobic really. I was able to try the 5 Creekside beers on tap straight from the source. They came out pretty good but one of the beers seemed to have a slight infection to it. Service was good but I was down there with only one other person. Selection was good for what this place was about - 5 of their own beers on tap with a few guest taps and some bottled offerings. The price was right at $5 for 5 tasters of all their beers. Worth checking out if you don't expect too much from your visit.

I dropped by on a week day during lunch. I didst have lunch because I ate at the modanna inn before. I did see the cook argue with the waitress about an order that was screwed up. Not very professional. There was only one waitress for several guess which made it hard for her to get things done. She was very nice and on top of it. The atmosphere is very calming and you can hear the water stream.
Not alot of beers offered on tap but plenty of guess bottles. Great beers by far. Their Belgian was a little hoppier than normal but very taste. Great plac to have lunch. The balcony is the best. Try need a bar. I'm sure they work with limited space. Nice place to visit overall.

The setup here is an upstairs restaurant with a deck overlooking the creek and a small pub downstairs. Upstairs is the brewing area and I only took a quick look downstairs but I think there was more brewing equipment down there too. The weather had been rainy but the sun came out and it turned out to be a nice day and they were not busy so I sat on the deck. For beer I had the IPA , it was good but that is all. I felt so comfortable sitting on the deck I ordered a second beer, the Red Ale and a sandwich, the Live Oak Sandwich. The sandwich was superb way way above pub fare.
I was talking with some local people sitting a few tables away and the said the menu is small but every item is done to perfection. They also said that in the summer Creekside is packed and there can be a hour wait for a table.

This review is based off multiple visits to Creekside and each time I've had a great time. The place is located off the main street that goes down SLO so I've never been in when it's been really crowded. The restaurant portion of Creekside is street level and also has seating over outside that over looks SLO Creek. I haven't been up here for longer then a couple minutes just to look around. Looks like plenty of seating for all who want to go and eat there. I have only had food here twice and both times were snacks and not full meals. Both were very good and enjoyable but I can't comment too deeply into the food offered here.
OK now to the bar and the beer. The bar is set downstairs of the place, stairway is close to the main door. There is about eight seats at the bar (maybe up to 10) and three or four smaller tables (seats 3-4). There is also a back room, assuming for bigger gatherings and banquets, that has some couches, coffee table and some other tables that probably seat around 12 each. I've been in the banquet room once during a BA Gathering for the Central CA Coast BA's and it was very nice to be able to relax and drink good beer.
The selection for Creekside is mostly bottled beer. They have seven taps at the bar. Of the seven, five are in house beers and the other two are guest taps. The tap list for Creekside beers are listed on a chalkboard to the left of the bar. The bar itself is very clean and the bartenders are always nice to talk to. I've never ordered a bottle from the bottle list but the list is fairly good, maybe even rivals Spike's but I'd have to go back and compare the two. The brewing equipment is also set down in the bar area behind plexi-glass walls for all to see. The service here is very friendly and speedy. As I just mentioned the bartenders are very friendly and I've talked to them many times.
A final few thoughts. First I have to say that Eric and John the owners are super friendly and great guys. I've had the pleasure of drinking with them at a few gatherings held at Creekside. Second, this place isn't geared too much toward the college aged but I enjoy coming here because I like the more relaxed feeling offered. I will be coming back here many times before my college career is over for sure. A good place to stop and drink some good beer with some friendly people.

Was in town for the day and surveyed BA for brews in the area and settled on Creekside. Glad I did - it is a great little spot.
There is a restaurant upstairs, but we went straight down to the bar downstairs. The bar is small, but cozy, and sits alongside their brewing apparatus. We had a couple of pints of their IPA, which was a quite respectable rendition of the west coast style.
I'm guessing that if I lived in San Louis I would be a regular - it seems like the best local place.
Highly recommended if you are in the vicinity.

Went to a tasting here that the owners graciously let us use a banquet room for. Tried some food after. Overall a decent brewpub. Only about 5 or so brews but all decent and solid styles. A few guest taps as well as bottles. Food is very good and reasonably priced. You can go for decent pub fare or classier choices.
The highlights for me were the service and layout. There is a restaurant upstairs w/standard seating, then downstairs a banquet room and bar area. Live music later at night as well. Owner and staff were super nice, and owner even recommended other beer bars in the area (which most bar owners wouldn't do). Overall a pretty fun spot that is fairly new and is worth checking out.

Great brewpub atmosphere with the brewing vessels in the center of the restaurant. And "Creekside" isn't just a cute name. There is a small deck with several tables hovering over (literally) San Luis Obispo Creek. It's more or less impossible to avoid both tourists and college students in downtown SLO, so you have to pick your poison if you're a local (or eat away from downtown). I'm at the age where the former bug me less than the latter. Fortunately, at Creekside, the Poly crowd seems to segregate themselves to the bar downstairs and the out of towners sit up stairs with me and my wife and kid. (;
I am acquainted with one of the brewers and actually got to watch some of the production going on while I ate through the glass. Their brewing software was pulled up on a laptop near me. Interesting to watch. They know what they're doing.
My server was courteous, but disorganized. To me, a mostly empty restaurant shouldn't have lag issues--one element of my wife's order came a long time after another, but you needed the one for the other, so we kind of sat there. (Fortunately, we had beer!)
The beer selection is very good, far above average, but, perhaps they could have a few more beers on tap, and even more in bottles. Maybe they know what their customers want, maybe they're still in the trial-and-error phase. If the latter, I would suggest trying to make the place the beer aficionado's equivalent of a place that would get a Wine Spectator selection award. There are a dozen restaurants in town that have dozens and dozens of wines (it is wine country here after all).
Now, here's the thing. The food is f(&%# amazing. It comes off on the menu as a sort of limited choice routine pub food kind of menu, but !wow!. You have to have good food in SLO to survive, because there are tons of great restaurants. People will go somewhere once for the novelty and then not come again if the novelty isn't backed up with high quality at a decent price (more on that in a minute). The owners might be aware of that, since they took over the site from SLO's 5000th anonymous Italian restaurant that in no way distinguished itself from all the others, and thus failed. Whatever the reason, you could go there just to eat and forget about the food. I made a point of sending my compliments to the chef!
Value, I guess, is in the eye of the beholder. To this SLO local, the prices are very reasonable, but restaurant prices are typically quite a bit higher on average around here. To me, the quality of the food was well worth it, and, so to me, it was a great value.

My first stop in here was for the Cali Cen Coast BA gathering. Parking along the streets and very well located downtown, by the creek but off the main streets keeps it low key as well. Walking in is plenty of seating, some of it overlooking the creek outside. There is a bar area downstairs with about 10-12 seats at the bar, some tables in case the bar is full. Crowd ranges from Beer Advocates, homebrewers to the college student who just appreciates beer. The servers are all nice and pretty savy on the beer and pretty too. Selection ranges from Pales, Stouts, IPAs and theyhave guest beer from Einhorn on tap plus a pretty good bottle selection. We did have the pretzel and it was good. Next time more food over beer. Had a great time and this place has been a long time coming! We needed this and thanks Creekside for delivering. You've got an advocate here. Cheers!

I recently visited this place with my wife and we were both quite impressed. We sat on a little balcony overlooking a beautiful creek. Just inside is the huge fermenters, which I must say are beautiful as well. I had their pale ale and my wife had their wheat beer. The pale ale was great and the wheat beer was average. When we finished those beers we decided to share a stout, which we both liked. Their food selection was mostly sandwiches, but the ones that we ordered were exceptional. Overall our experience at this place was positive and we would recommend it to anyone in the area.
