Fresh off the truck - not even in the store's computer system yet. Poured from a 12oz bottle into my Dogfish Head oversized snifter.
Clear Princeton orange body with a lasting smattering of off white foam that settles to a ropey collar and a mottled surface slick. Decent retention, delicate lacing, very faint legs.
Herbaceous, not-quite-skunky aromatics with a strong but secondary note of sweetness alternating between honey and peach/mango. Spicy and potent.
Citrus and passion fruit on the palate with a long lingering peppery herbal note to back things up. Hops all the way through, though there is a clean but strong malt backbone to provide balance. Very slightly soapy finish with a touch of pine sap. Nice full bitterness. Dry woodsy finish brings you back for more punishment. Faint aftertaste of dark herbal tea (maybe from the Calypso hops?). The sweetness seems to come out more as you habituate to the bitterness and as the ale warms a bit.
Medium-bodied, carbonation is well dialed to maximize the bite of the hops without getting in the way of their flavor. Very faintly sticky.
While I think Ranger is a better beer, this is a good unapologetic version of the style and a good value. While not in the same league as anything from Russian River (for example), I think it would only be slightly outclassed by many mid-tier offerings like Hop Henge, Hoptimum, etc.

Big almost white head slowly settles into a nice lacing above a clear bright and rich golden colored beer with a hint of copper to it.
Mild hops aroma with some citrus aspects to it, maybe a bit of caramel malt (comes and goes) not much else going on here.
More of the caramel malts in the taste than in the aroma but not by much blended with a bit of fruity citrus hops tastes and a light bitterness.
Dry to drying aftertaste with a bit of the citrusy hops sticking around with this medium bodied beer.
Not a bad beer, I was just kind of unimpressed with this beer considering it is an imperial, was expecting more.

Crystal clear yellowish orange with a large frothy white head that sicks around for a while, becoming dimpled. Just a little lacing.
Citrusy hops, followed by some sweet grainy malts. Kind of grassy with a touch of orange peel. Pretty pleasant.
Bitter citrusy hops with some bready caramel malts. The bitterness sticks around for a while, not offering a great deal of complexity. Pretty average tasting really.
Moderate body with a moderate biting carbonation. Creamy, especially due to the head that comes with every sip for most of the glass. Pretty refreshing.
Not bad, but not super exciting either. Fairly easy drinking despite the size, apart from the bitterness which is a bit much for me.
