Hazy reddish brown. Nice head that left quickly. Laced nicely. Smelled boozy, dark fruit, cherry. Slick mouthfeel to me then dry.
I like New Belgium Lips of Faith. Would I buy another bottle? No. I like it. It's a big beer at 10% ABV.

Appearance: Mahogany brown body, with a little haze, crowned by a coarse, off-white cloud top tan head, about an inch in height, with quite good retention. A thick, irregular ring of lacing adorns the glass wall.
Aroma: A quite boozy aroma, with strong notes of caramel and dark fruit. There are also notes of unburnt tobacco.
Taste: The taste begins with abundant caramel, dark fruits, and slight bitter apple rind. As the taste progresses, toasted dark bread notes present. Spicy, warming alcohol is present as well. Fairly late in the taste, there is a brief spike of dark cherry flavor. Mild, earthy hop flavors present at the end of the taste.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, rich, and quite full, with a very soft touch, and only faint carbonation.
Drinkability/notes: A spectacular and over-the-top example of a Belgian Quadruple. Would make for an elegant holiday presentation.
Presentation: Packaged in a standard twenty-two ounce enameled brown glass bomber, sealed with a pry-off crown, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

It pours a rustic brown color and leaves the same colored body with a one finger white foamy head that died within a half minute. Some lacing ends up trying to stick to the sides. The smell has a tart cherry with a slight coffee-ness trying to come through but honestly kind of comes through in an "ashy" sort of way - hmmmm... The taste has some tart cherry and some other dark fruits try to balance the coffee and ash. The ftertaste is somewhat a bland yet kind of tart cherry. It has a dry ashy and somewhat coffee finish. On the palate, she sits about a medium on the mouth and tongue, not really sessionable - though it seems like this one tries to be as the carbonation runs fairly smooth. Overall, I say this is a decent quad that I could come back to.

Drank 6/13/14 on draft @ World of Beer Evanston.
Murky raspberry hue.
White head; frothy, thick lace.
Cradle wax & slight cherry notes in the nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Booze heat, fresh earth, candle wax & slight cherry flavors; certainly not boring, but a mess currently.

This quad pours a fairly dark reddish brown color with a medium tan head that dissipates fairly quickly. There is a good amount of carbonation at first. The smell is yeasty and somewhat fruity, probably cherry. The flavor is quite intense. It has notes of date, coffee, and cherries as the bottle says and a big yeasty backbone. There is also a very detectable flavor of alcohol. This is common to quads, and not something that I normally mind, but it is a little more overpowering here than I would prefer. Although the flavors are nice, this beer lacks the complexity and some of the polish of a truly great quad. It seems like a beer that has some of the right things going for it, but just doesn’t totally come together in the end. It is somewhat enjoyable, and it will get you drunk at 10%, but if you want a really great example of the style this isn’t it.

On tap at 2013 Tour de Fat. Understand that they’re trying to compete with the motherland, but not quite there. too sweet and sugary. The fruit makes it bit too sweet and cloying.

Enjoyed from a growler via Jungle Jim's Fairfield. This FINE quad pours a reddish mahogany with one of the best heads I have seen that dissipates to a thin off white pool with a thick tightly beaded sudsy ring and fantastic lacing. Nose of dark tart cherries, Belgian candy sugars, and earthy yeast. I detect no coffee in the nose.....that is fixed by the taste with sweet Belgian candy sugars and cherries to all sides, followed by a tobacco and green coffee note that is prevalent on the back and aftertaste, blending nicely with a rich earthy yeast note. Moderately strong alcohol is seared in the back and sides with prickly but light carbonation. A substantial brew indeed. Very nice. New Belgium should be congratulated for making delicious hybrids that are not off the beaten path.
Cheers
