The beer pours a dark brown color with a large, off-white head. The aroma is heavy on the wheat and roasted malt, with a little bit of pepper and cloves. The flavor is more of the same. I get some dark fruit, caramel malt, molasses, wheat and pepper. Very drinkable, with only a little bit of the 9 percent ABV showing. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A very nice dunkelweizen and another good Lips of Faith beer.

22oz. bottle with purple and gold label printed directly on the glass.

Served cool into a NB goblet, Dunkel Weiss is a very dark redish brown color with less than perfect clarity. The head is bone white with tight little bubbles. As it slowly settles, it leaves some nice lacing behind.

Aroma is really nice and surprisingly intense. Much like many German dark wheat ales, this one gives you those clove, banana, and bubblegum notes. In addition, there seems to be vanilla and caramel.

The flavor is again like a more intense traditional dunkelweizen. It has sweetness up front that leads to roasted malts and bitterness in the middle and finally finishes with that clove spiciness. It's really well balanced despite the strength and variety of flavors.

Mouthfeel is medium-plus body with creamy smooth carbonation. The alcohol is pretty well hidden for being a new bottle of 9% ABV.

Overall a really impressive version of this classic style. It may be one of the best Lips of Faith series beers I've had.
