Hazy light orange and yellow color, looks nice, good head, carbonation, lace, retention. Aroma was definitely a strong belgian yeast. Covered up the hops.
Taste, plenty bitter, hoppy with that distint belgian yeast flavor. Usually the hops are far off and mild with this style, not so here. Hops are plentiful, especially for style. Very clean aftertaste. Peppery spiciness like you've come to expect in a belgian anything with a slight phenol and metal thing going that isn't bad, it actually works with the beer. Plenty crisp.
Probably a challenging beer to the uninitiated. Stick with fat tire or ranger if you lack the palate and sense of adventure to go on this side of the moon.

Hazy yellow and orange, 3/4" head, white, retention was good. Aroma hit the belgian yeast notes more than it did the hops.
Taste dropped way more bitterness than your average Belgian. The hops came out to play a lot more on the tongue than they did in the nose. Finishes clean, but before you get there, there is plenty of belgian spice rack and black pepper.
Good at what it is.

From notes, 4/29/11. Draft, City Beer Store. A very nice Belgian IPA. I rather like the Lips of Faith series. They mostly would make for excellent introductions to their various styles, since they’re friendly, enjoyable versions that still pack good flavor and some complexity. This isn’t quite competing with the best of the sub-style, but it’s nearly there and very good in its own right. Good citrus/grass/floral hop notes blend with Belgian yeastiness and a touch of earth. Taste is a bit sweet but finishes dry with a gentle bitter bite. A very pleasant beer and another win for New Belgium’s fancy line.
