Poured into pint glass.
Color is a dark orange amber. Slight tan head that was very thin with no lace.
The aroma was amazing. Smells like a perfect roast of coffee. Also lemon zest and coffee bean aromas.
Taste is just like a perfect roast of coffee with lemon zest. There was also a chocolate taste.
Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. Pretty clean aftertaste that is well carbonated.
Overall, this beer is awesome. I really enjoyed this beer and I plan on buying more of it, if I can still find it. I highly recommend.

A - Poured a dark copper color with an off white head that leaves lacing behind
S - Nothing but black coffee I don't get any lemon here
T - Just like it smells its like drinking cold black coffee no real balance of coffee beans and any sort of a base beer
M - This beer has a thin watery body with medium carbonation to it
D - This was a waste of my money I could only drink half the pint before I sent it back to the bartender and ordered a new beer this is carbonated coffee not an amber stay away from this one

Had this one on tap at the Skylark Lounge in Denver. Pours a medium amber color, with a little bit of head. Aromas of biscuit malt, some caramel and a whole lot of freshly ground and brewed espresso. This is a really nicely balanced beer, with a good caramel malt background, contrasted nicely by a huge hit of espresso. I have no idea what happened to this beer, but I kind of miss it.

A-Dark copper with a thin tan ring that left spotty lace.
S-Light coffee with a spicy touch. Toffee, latte' and a light hint of bitter lemon peel.
T-Lemon bite overlying rich espresso flavour. Nice bitterness upfront and malt sweetness in the background.
M-Medium-light bodied with coffee bitterness in the drying finish.
D-A lemon coffee beer...WTF? But, for me, this one works! damn good. Light with lots of flavour and very surprised that the combination works as good as it does! Kudos to NBB for taking the chance with this one.

Thanks to smellsofstout for this extra on a recent trade. I shared this beer last night at La Bella Pizza with Joey and Danny. I had never tried this beer before and the combination of espresso and lemon peel seemed odd to me. Turns out the beer wasn't that bad at all.
Pours a brownish-amber hue with a half inch of foam.
Can definitely smell the coffee, more like slightly stale ground coffee. Nutty malts, caramel, and toffee with a very light lemon presence in the back.
On first sip, wow, this isn't bad. Smooth, lightly roasted coffee flavor, cream, nutty, caramel, and just a splash of lemon in the finish to blend with the coffee acidity. Some milk chocolate flavors once the beer warms up a bit more. Well balanced flavors, the coffee is not overdone and the lemon peel brings in an interesting finish that blends quite well.
Low carbonation but with some body on the palate. The beer leaves almost a silky feeling on the tongue. Very enjoyable beer, wouldn't mind having this one again.

Nice copper color that has a bubbly creamy light tan head. Smells of coffee, and true the lemon does come out a wee bit in the nose, but is definitely more prominent in the aftertaste. The espresso adds a nice character to the flavor and drinkability of this brew.
Part of the Folly pack I picked up when I was out on the Oregon Coast. Wasn't sure what to make of it...but I knew I wouldn't be let down by the other three offerings in the pack.
Seriously, I think I could really like or really hate this been depending on the day. Today, it falls into the I like side of the fence. I can see why some folks didn't like this. But if you're a fan of iced tea or iced coffee, this beer is worth a try....and in the Folly Pack it worked out to less than one dollar...what a deal. Can't get prices like that at Starbucks.
It's akin to iced coffee, that someone snuck a lemon wedge into thinking it was iced tea.

Clear dark amber/copper color with a creamy off-white head that manages a bit of sticky lacing.
The aroma is mild espresso with some hints of lemon.
The flavor starts with just a hint of sweet caramel malt, quickly overcome by a mild espresso bitterness and hints of lemon zest that last through the finish, leaving a mild coffee aftertaste.
Light/medium body, creamy smooth and very drinkable and refreshing.

The beer is a beautiful dark color. That is all I can say I liked about it.
Aroma gave some clues as to what was to come - but didn't quite give a complete picture.
The first drop that hit the tongue wasn't bad... but then the full flavor hit, and I actually convulsed at how bad it was. I have no idea where they were trying to go with the combination of flavors, but they ended up in a suburb of hell as far as I'm concerned.
Poured the rest down the drain. Only the 2nd beer I've ever done that to.

Thanks goes out to Tolnik for this one.
Pours a nice clean/clear dark amber color, nice carbonation, nice little one-finger creamy off-white head, with some sticky lacing. The nose is malty, with coffee. The taste is malty, sweet, with coffee notes. Medium body. Drinkable, not too bad, but nothing I would drink again.

A: Reddish brown, dark copper color. Carbonated, head doesn't retain well.
S: Caramel, traces of cocoa and toffee. Very nice smell.
T: What I get most is in the finish, and that's lemon. Very citrus finish that takes over a lot of the flavor of the beer. Some caramel malts up front with hints of toffee and no hop flavors that I can detect. Don't really pick up the espresso flavors, citrus/lemon flavors are quite present.
M: Smooth, slightly thin body. Sticky, oily mouthfeel but pretty smooth.
D: I don't understand the lemon addition to this beer. Would have loved the espresso to pop through, and without the lemon. I love the caramel/toffee flavors but the citrus finish just makes for a weird experience. However, it is an easy to drink beer.

A 12 oz bottle purchased on Liquid Solutions.
A: The ale pours with a vigorous carbonation. So much so that the glass nearly overflowed when the bottle was still half full. Three plus fingers of head are lacing in a spiderweb patchwork. The ale is an amber brown color.
S: The espresso is especially strong, concentrated and bitter. A faint lemon tartness, very faint, is a counterpunch.
T: I've never had such a strong coffee taste out of such a light (relatively speaking) ale. The espresso is sweet and sharp with a lactic undertone. Lemon is more peel than juice, a perfect compliment to the espresso (although I prefer my espresso with sambuca over lemon peel). A very accessible ale that shows off the espresso in a pleasant manner.
M: The espresso is the best feature of the ale, so if you don't like coffee you've been warned. The hops and amber malts are almost nonexistent.
D: I was expecting to be underwhelmed, based on the feedback-to-date. I am quite happy to report that it exceeded my expectations. The coffee flavor is dominant and I love espresso.

A: Clear, bright orange/amber color. Poured a 2 finger beige head with fair retention. Broken, inconsistent lacing. Lightly decanted.
S: Citrus lemon zest and coffee beans.
T: Consistent with smell; flavors were clear and present - bitter coffee, roasted malts - but not overbearing; very nice balance. Ample bittering hops to brighten the finish.
M: Light body. Ample carbonation. Overall smooth and creamy, but clean in the finish.
D: Pretty sure I could drink a lot of this. I tire of coffee, but this in this beer the flavor is not over-done.

Got this in trade from vasdef42. Thanks, Jared!
A-Pours a clear honey amber with a fluffy white head but little lacing.
S-Label says this was brewed with lemon peel and infused with espresso. Both are there, though the espresso is dominant. Lemon in the background is very nice.
T-That's nice. Espresso dominates the front of the palate, though it's a bit subdued compared to the nose. Lemon notes take over midway through and this finishes nice and clean. A bit tart and a bit sweet.
M-Clean, crisp, medium bodied.
D-Really refreshing, well balanced between sweet and tarty notes. This is a good one.

Appearance: A clear and deep rust-colored body with a solid finger of eggshell head. Decent chunky lacing.
Aroma: Roasted malt body with lots of medium-roasted coffee. Not much as far as hops or lemon coming through, but the coffee is brilliant. In a blind smell test, there's an outside chance I'd peg this as coffee, not beer.
Taste: It's still very much all about the coffee in the flavor profile as well. The profile is of mildly bitter coffee flavors firmly in the medium-roasted coffee territory, so don't be expecting a dark-roasted espresso. The backbone is somewhat reminiscent of 1554 (although much weaker) and nicely sweet. There might be a splash of citrus in there, but it's hard to pin down.
Mouthfeel: A smooth, medium body with average carbonation.
Drinkability: Moderate drinkability. The coffee might get somewhat tiring after a while.
Verdict: Giddy Up is somewhat one-dimensional beer, but it does what it does perfectly, having the best recreation of coffee flavors I've ever experienced in a beer. If you're looking for medium-roasted coffee flavors in a beer, you can't go wrong here. It works perfectly as part of a mix-pack, but I'm not convinced I'd be picking up a lot of six-packs.

12 oz bottle, best by April 3 2009. Pours a clear reddish amber with a creamy off white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is cold coffee and a little toffee and nuts.
The flavor is coffee and roast with some nuts and fruit leading to a slightly bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with some sharp carbonation.
Overall, it's pretty one dimensional with the coffee notes, but I enjoy it. It's interesting having a lighter coffee beer with some fruit notes.

Pours a dark amber color, nearly brown, a huge 3 finger tan head, falls slowly, good lacing. Aroma is a nice mix of chocolate, coffee, and bright hops. Still has that same New Belgium yeast aroma that I get in every one of their beers. Taste has very nice coffee flavor, but it's not overly pronounced. The coffee blends nicely with the biscuity, nutty malts and earthy hops. I'm not picking up too much of the lemon. As with the nose, the flavor is typical New Belgium, as most of their beers seem to have a Fat Tire base, and then they work around that. Not sure if it's the malts or the yeast, but many of beers have the same qualities, but that's not a complaint. Just nothing new or exciting. It's slightly sweet and well balanced. Mouthfeel is medium and slightly creamy with the low carbonation. I liked this beer, but couldn't see myself trying to get it in six packs. It was good enough as a treat in the Folly Pack.
