Warning...do not buy this beer in a can. The one I had acted like an overprimed bottled beer...there was sediment all over the place and it tasted very pour. This beer poured an clear amber but with massive floaties...I hate floaties....usually I can cut it off....but this was out of control. The head of course was huge and fizzy like any overprimed beer. The smell was crap and the taste was foul. I would try this again but not in a can. Overall dont take my word for it....go try for yourself...but I will never buy a can of this again.

This is the foamiest beer I ever had, I got it in 16oz cans and each time I opened one up it foamed over and left a mess on my counter. The first couple I attempted to pour into a pint glass and I never seen so much foam. The taste ain't too bad, but with all the foam forget about it.

16oz can poured into imperial pint.

A- Pours a copper/amber with a slight haze to it. A small head, one finger, dissipates quickly and doesn't leave much in the way of lacing.

S- Big on the malt and a little bit of sweet caramel. Some faint hops round this one out.

T- Big, rich caramel and malt greet the tongue immediately. A little bit of a grainy, breadiness to it as well. The hops really aren't anywhere to be found, which isn't really a bad thing based on style.

M- Medium bodied with crisp, soda like carbonation. This brew smooths out at the back of the throat.

D- This brew has pretty good flavor and a low abv make this for a pretty good session beer. Also it comes in a can making it more activity friendly.

Pour - dark amber, soft in appearance with a great looking stark-white head. This pours opaque, almost cloudy.

Aroma - brown sugar, yeast, bread dough, gingerbread, caramel and tea

Taste - sweet but not cloying. Plenty of dark bread notes along with ginger and yeast. Soft on the tongue with a perfect carbonation level. It's a surprisingly light beer to drink despite the appearance. I'm happy!

Overall - Very drinkable with a solid malt flavor and easy on the palate. A great candidate for a pint can, well executed MBC!

Would I buy more of it? - sure. This is a very solid amber ale with lots of great flavor and quite session-able.

Kegatron gave me this. He rocks.

Poured into an imperial pint glass at around 50 degrees F. Three finger widths off-white, slightly light brown head. Extremely pillow and frothy in nature. Body appears a caramel color, and it's hazy with tiny specks of stuff floating around.

Smells like toffee, caramel, butterscotch, vanilla, and some hints of apple in the back. Hops are a dirty earthy smell. Quite a bit of nutty aroma too, I want to say cashews, yes, cashews. Fairly mild aroma overall.

A considerable amount of toffee up front along with a big heaping batch of butterscotch. Mild off phenolic character, minerals, and some raw earthy bitterness finish it off. I wanted more of the complexities from the aroma to come through.

A little too airy for me, too fluffy. Also seems a smidge too thin for what I was expecting. Needs to be smoother I think.

Reminds me a bit of having a caramel sundae with heaps of that not so great tasting whipped cream. You know the kind I'm talking about, the kind that almost tastes sour? I can't say I've ever been a big fan of this style but I found this to be a fairly underwhelming example of it.

A- Pours a really nice looking deep ruby with ample white head that seems to stick around, leaving nice lacing.

S- Smells like wet hay? Grassy.

T- One in the same with the smell. Doesn't have the "kick" as other scotch ale I've had in the past.

M- Not too much tingling carbonation.

D/O- If you like it, have at it. Unfortunately for me, I feel a headache coming on :(

Bottle from a custom six-pack in Nashotah, WI. Pours a nice amber body with a large head. Nice retention that brings back the froth again and again. Caramel, and fruit in the aroma and flavors of caramel as well. A pretty tasty brew, but a little too malty for an amber ale.

Reviewed from tasting notes.

Pours out into a pint glass a nice deep amber with a minute's worth of sand colored froth that falls back to a skim layer in about a minute, no lacing left behind. Smells and tastes of light caramel, a touch of toasted nuttiness and milk chocolate, a bit of herbal / earthen accent hopping, and that's it. Simple yet it doesn't really need to be more complex than this... Not as cloyingly sweet as you would think from the malt content. Lighter body, medium carbonation. Not an exceptional brew, but not bad either.

Drank from cold bottle right out of the cooler.

A=Couldn't tell.

S=Hint of floral, hoppy.

T=Much hoppier than other ambers I've tried, but in a good way. Refreshing, with a sweet and lemony backdrop.

M=Lighter body than most ambers; low carbonation; very drinkable.

O=I enjoyed this beer...but not enough to choose it again over other offerings later in the day. Still, I would choose this over Fat Tire and Wisconsin Amber.

Pours a nice clear copper color with two healthy fingers of off white head.

Sweet caramel and bready malt dominating the nose with some dark fruit.

Follows the nose with sweet caramel, bready malt, and some dark fruit.

Slick and light on carbonation with a bit of dryness towards the end.

A very satisfying beer; nothing that's going to blow your socks off... its even better on cask.

I tried this a long time ago at the Milwaukee Ale House and I liked it, but it was during a big drinking session after a multiple Milwaukee River beer place tour so when I saw it on the shelves, and in its newer label (purple and a gravestone with a mug of beer sitting on top) I bought six. I am glad I did.
While it considers itself an amber ale it is sweeter than most ambers, and with very little hop presence. But it also is considered a Scottish Ale, which it is more like, but with a relatively low amount of alcohol.
It pours gentle and smooth and is sweet and tasty.
I would recommend this to others looking for another higher quality Milwaukee beer.
Purchased at Woodman's in Kenosha.

Small light brown head, well carbonated. Reddish brown in color with a few floaties. Aroma is syrupy and buttery. Starts a bit drier than the aroma indicates. Some underlying fruitiness, grapey (?!). Moderate alcohol, medium to light body. A slightly sour aftertaste.

Overall somewhat watery and muted, no real flaws but nothing to make it stand out.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tulip pint glass.

A: Clear, medium amber color with two fingers of cinnamon-tinted foam head. Heavy lacing remains on the glass and a few solitary bubbles rise lazily in the column.

S: Malty, showing a heavy undigested crystal presence. Some fresh herbaceous notes seem uncompleted, with vacant carbon dioxide filling in, or rather opening, gaps.

T: Begins off-dry, with a brief flash of balanced bready malt before sweetness becomes more intense with an unusual postage stamp paste-quality to it. Husky toasted grain is presented during the middle as sweetness retreats back to the original intensity. Herbaceous bitterness is mild to moderate in the finish, with occasional glimpses of aspirin-like astringency.

M: Thin viscosity, very refreshing on the palate, with moderate carbonation.

D/O: Despite the ordinariness of this beer's qualities, it is effortlessly drinkable. It is sweet, but not heavily so, which makes it hard not to want to lift the glass again. It is just an American amber ale, nothing to see here, but it possesses a potato chip-esque appeal nonetheless.

Louie's Demise pours a nice copper color, with a good size head. The smell has a malty backbone, but a good amount of hops come through; smells a bit wet, and soapy. There is a strong malty taste, a bit dry, a few hops make it through on the pallete. There is a strong and strange aftertaste making it harder to drink. Overall this isnt a bad scottish ale.

2 finger eggshell colored head of foam that lingers and then deflates like a bad soufflé, though that doesn't translate to bad in beer terms. Color is a ruddy brown with little beasties floating around.

Big fig and raisin notes with and big splashes of grape juice or a light cooking sherry.

Not as pungent as the nose; tangy fruit is very small, superseded by a clean and toasty character. Not very sweet, this one seems to have fermented out pretty well. Good bottle conditioning. No hops to speak of and a thin mineral-like taste in the finish. Very low bitterness.

Bright and crisp, which was unusual for me with a beer of this style. Much lighter in body than I would have suspected.

A little thin, but that only makes it easier to session.

Poured into a snifter (why the hell not), the beer has nice clarity, very deep copper/light amber color with a quickly diminishing off-white head that leaves some lace on the glass. The aroma is moderate-low caramel malts, a hint of raisin, nice but a bit could use a bit more of something, either more of the same or hints of something else. The flavor is much like the aroma, some caramel malt that quickly fades into the crisp finish and rather clean. The body is medium-light and carbonation medium-high. Overall, the flavors are a bit weak for the style, in general it is not a bad beer, a Scottish Ale light I suppose. I'd buy it in a bar in a heartbeat over a macro light beer, but otherwise wouldn't seek it out.

Bottle poured into pint glass

Appearance: Heavy carbonation in an amber colored brew with thick lacing.

Smell: Peanut butter and jelly, fruit esters, light malt scent.

Taste: Light bodied malt with fruit esters of grape, blueberries, and cherry. Almost non-existant bitterness, not as much malt as I'd anticipated. The malt that is present is crunchy and caramel like in flavor. The caramel sort of borders on being honey-like, but is stopped by the other fruit flavors. Sharp fruit end that dries the mouth along with lingering phenols.

Picked this one up at Sentry in Lake Mills, WI.

Poured a very dark red color, very little head. Smells of heavy malt, with some bread notes. Decent medium bodied beer. Some bitter aftertaste. Definitely a quality beer worth a taste, but I'm not sure how many more I'd want to drink in an evening.

I bought this in a 8-pack Mircobrewery variety pack from Woodman's in Janesville, WI for $12 in late 2010.

Louie's Demise pours a cloudy and dark amber color as the scent of roasted malts erupt from the bottle. It is rather thin in texture but has a rather bold taste of malts with a nice mixture of hops. A very interesting brew!

Pours a nice cloudy dark copper color, nice carbonation, nice one-finger creamy off-white head, with some nice sticky lacing left behind. The nose is malty, with lots of caramel. The taste is sweet, malty, with some caramel. Medium body. Drinkable, a nice little brew. My first from the brewery.

Three fingers of huge had on this one. The mountainous foam recedes a nice island of filmy foam. A hazey copper color greets the eye, along with some suspended yeast sediment mixed in.

Caramel and bread crust hits the nostrils first. Then the sweet carmel diminishes and lets a more defined toasted white bread shine through.

The front of the sip has a gritty toasted cereal grain. This sweetens to a hint of effervescent caramel. Then takes faint tart note on the finish. Combine this with maybe a little lemon juice from ohhh sooo subtle hopping to balance this session Scotch ale.

Poured into my pint glass the beer is a lightly hazed amber orange. The off white head bursts three fingers high after a careful pour. Retention is moderate with a small amount of soapy lace.

The aroma is sweet and fruity. Light malt is present but the nose is dominated oranges and apples.

The flavor is mild sweet malt. Some hints of bitter fruit along with a grassy earthiness. As far as a typical Scottish ale this one is all over the place. Taste wise it's pleasant but not really to style so i have to knock a point for that.

Medium body with light carbonation.

Overall a decent drinkable beer. Not really a Scottish ale in my opinion but tasty anyways.

Poured into my pint glass. Pours a slightly murky copper color with a thin off-white head on top. Dissipates quickly leaving little lace in its wake. Smells of toffee, the woods, and big fresh sourdough bread. The body is full and hearty. Nice mellow crispness to this due to a moderate amount of carbonation. Very mellow bready flavor with a touch of honey on the finish. Bitterness is low on this one. Slight sweet quality to it. I really like the aftertaste. Like I just ate some fresh-buttered dark bread. With the low ABV, I could drink a few of these. Good beer.

Poured very dark and cloudy from the bottle with a nice thick head that lingered.

Not much smell, maybe a bit sweet and a bit toasty, but nothing significant.

First taste, a nice crisp toasty malted flavor, very clean finish, slightly sweet aftertaste.

Very refreshing, but I wouldn't call it a scotch ale.

I would definitely drink this again.

Appearance: Dark amber color. Nice creamy head developing in chalice.

Smell: The smell is faint, nothing bold or robust here. Hmmm, what say you beer???

Taste: Delicious light malt character intertwined with quality Milwaukee water from Lake Michigan. Toffee notes. It has a the body of a light weight boxer; small yet girthy. There's a real refreshing quality from the small amount of malt used and low abv. The compromise is spot on for what they were aiming for. Totally different than any other Scotch style though.

Mouthfeel: Thin, light, yet girthy from the malts.

D: Refreshing, will have no problem have a few or six of these guys. Glad it comes in sixers.
