Well, ever since I returned from India I've been searching for some good sub-continent food. The Yak and Yeti has it. I'd love to do a food review here, but it's all about the beer. Still, the food was great...a bit pricey, but the entrees are really 2 meals.

Atmosphere is cozy, mostly Indian. A weird buffet table that wasn't in use was in the corner. Smelled great. Nice carpeted floor. Quaint rooms (didn't go upstairs) and a relaxed patio. Bar up front.

About 10 beers on tap. A couple rotating handles and seasonals. Prices are a tad high, but happy hour is nice. I had the English mild and it was tasty. Didn't quite go with the food, but I didn't care.

Service is just short of 'in your face', but friendly and prompt. I've found a new place. Will hit this cozy eatery once a month methinks.

love this place, a bit of a hike from south denver, but well worth the trip. the beers are unique and diverse, and the food is authentic and delicious. smaller place around the bar, with a bigger eating area in back and a quaint little porch area where we sat all evening. the beers are all pretty good, and very clever. chai stout, watermelon wheat, fenugreek belgian... where else can you find beers like that? the service is great, very social and entertaining, always available. some lazy musicians half jamming in the corner adds to the ambiance. food is all exquisite, the chicken wings in the tandoor oven are bomb, and our entrees were top notch as well. they close pretty early during the week, which is a bit of a buzzkill, and really my only complaint. prices arent low, but they arent out to root you either. this place is awesome overall and a must visit for anyone who likes beer and eastern food and has never been. we love it and cant wait to go back.

Cool old two story yellow mansion with a nice bar in front. The beer has really gotten better with the latest brewer. He does a lot of small batch beers that are pretty tasty. They are currently doing a series of different Porters through January. The service is prompt and friendly allthough some of the servers don't know a lot about beer. The selection of beers is decent with 8 to 10 house beers on tap. The prices are great on the beer and I hear the food is good but I have'nt ate there yet. Well worth checking out if your in the north Denver area.

Looks like an old house converted to a cozy restaurant. Appears very small when you walk in, but there is an upstairs seating area. (Check out the art in the Tower Room)

The house beer selection was small, maybe 4 different taps. I thought the beer was pretty drinkable, but definately not top tier for Denver due to small selection and average/homebrew quality brew.

The food here is another story. Not only is the food really good, but the menu is huge. You'll need to drink a beer or two while making your food selection. The waiter was friendly and offered suggestions and favorites from the menu. Food was a bit pricy maybe, but it didn't detract from the experience. Would definately go back and give the beer another shot since everything else was great.

Saw the GABF awards from last year decided to give them a try. The buffet was strongly recommended by our server and turned out to be quite good, though I always prefer to have my food served to when when I'm paying for it. It was standard Indian type fare The beer was quite good with a strong English presence. Really enjoyed the chai. Was a bit disappointed that they did not have anything on cask at the time. The mild was also good as well as the IPA which was definitely of the English vain. Think they had about five beers.

Today, I enjoyed lunch and a beer at the Westminster location of Yak and Yeti.

I was very interested to try their homemade IPA and had heard that their lunch buffet was excellent as well. It's not often that you see an Indian food brewpub and this one is just a few miles from work.

It's a fairly busy place on a Wednesday afternoon but I'm greeted as soon as I walk in the door. The employees are very friendly and attentive. I ordered the beer and went up to the buffet.

There was a good selection of curries, tika masala, samosas, and various veggies. All traditional dishes but some more familiar to me than others. Everything I had was excellent. The food was fresh, hot, and very tasty. The nan bread was fantastic for sopping up the sauces. The saffron rice a perfect side dish.

Of course, the original reason I went there was for the beer and it did not disappoint. With a lot of good IPAs available today, it remains rare to find one that really stands out as excellent but this one does. Super hoppy and fresh, smells just like a bag of pellets, and tastes outstanding as well. Worth the trip even if you're well outside the city.

Overall a really excellent find. Go hungry and leave totally satisfied.

My wife and I are on a mission. I am a beer buyer at a Colorado liquor store and I love beer and all the great people that make the American beer scene so exciting. But too many people in Colorado seem to forget that while we may have over 100 breweries and we produce more beer than any other state, the only way to enjoy most of our state's breweries is to visit them. Approximately 70% of our state's breweries only sell beer at the brewery or at a small number of local bars. To really enjoy all that Colorado breweries have to offer, you have to hit road and drink from the source. And that is our mission: to get out on the road and enjoy the wonderful, small batch beers that we may never see in any liquor store and to share our experiences with others with a brief review.

Our first stop was Yak and Yeti, an unlikely home of hand crafted beer. Located in a beautiful restored Queen Anne Victorian house in Arvada, CO, the Yak and Yeti is a full service restaurant featuring Indian, Tibetan and Nepalese cuisine. My wife and I grabbed a table and enjoyed their extensive lunch buffet featuring Vegetarian Korma, Chicken Tikka Masala, Sweet Potato Masala, Saag Paneer, Daal, Veggie Pakoras, Veggie Samosas, Vegetarian Coconut Soup, Chicken Soup, Saffron Rice, and more. They offered a total of 10 entrees and 7 desserts. My personal favorites were the Saag Paneer, which had plenty of Panner (many indian buffets tend to skimp on this superb handmade cheese) and the banana pakoras for dessert. The food was top notch, we immediately found ourselves comparing it to Little India and India's Pearl, our favorite Denver-area Indian Restaurants.

So the food was spectacular, but this was a beer voyage. Luckily, we were more than satisfied in this area as well. Six beers were listed on their beer menu: Himalayan IPA (which just won a Gold Medal for Strong Pale Ale at the GABF), Panda Mild, Chai Stout, Milk Stout, AbominAle (an English Bitter), and a Pilsner.

My wife and I each enjoyed a pint of the Himalayan IPA which more than lived up to the hype. Its zip of citrus hops and smooth body made it hard for us to order only one. Our next beer was the Chai Stout, an immanently appropriate beer that paired perfectly with our meal. The Chai spice notes formed a surprisingly good foil to the roasty chocolate flavors of the stout. Unfortunately, that was all the beer we had time for, but we are excited about coming back when we have more time so we can gorge ourselves once more on their buffet and tasting our way through all of Yak and Yeti's beer offerings.

Whether you are a seasoned veteran of Indian cuisine or you wouldn't know Cardamom from Cumin, Yak and Yeti is a rare combination of succulent ethnic cuisine and mouthwatering beers that was well worth our 30 minute drive up to Arvada. It was also remarkably affordable: $8.45 for the Lunch Buffet and only $3 a pint for beer. This was one happy our that lived up to the name.

Stopped in for lunch and some beers - this is in the same beautiful building that used to house the Cheshire Cat. Even before we got our of the car the aromas of Indian food were enticing us in. This place has a bar up front, with the brewing equipment in a room behind there, and several smaller dining rooms. There is also an upstairs, but I've never been up there. In one of the center rooms there was an Indian buffet set up. We ordered some samplers, and proceeded to hit the buffet. Food was very good - several different varieties of food available, my only complaint would be there were a bit slow to replace them as they ran out. The beers were all solid offerings - I didn't take any real notes, but remember enjoying the IPA and ESB the most. They also had a couple interesting stouts, one being milk and the other chai.

Definitely worth a stop - I would say this is an improvement over the old Cheshire.
