I've been going to Craft Ale House since late 2009 and consider myself to be a "regular" there. All things considered, I'm trying to be very unbiased...
CAH is a small beer bar, no wine, no liquor, though BYOW is encouraged and there is no corking fee. The atmosphere is dimly lit throughout, three high-top tables on your immediate left as you walk in, with the chalk beer board behind. The bar is small, directly next to the high-tops though there are stools behind the bar with a thin ledge to rest your drinks on. The rest is dining tables, two or three in the far back, and perhaps 8 or so on the side. Not too big at all.
The taps are always rotating and you can always expect a variety of styles. There is always one Nitro tap on, always one beer in the Sour-realm, and then a variety of dominantly US craft beer from all over, as well as the occasional imports (mostly Belgian or German). His (Gary) bottle selection tops over 400 different beers, last time I did an evaluation with him...I believe Summer 2010.
The service is great and has been from the beginning. Obviously, once you're a regular, your service is top-notch. Though, I've noticed their staff is much more educated, patient and friendly than from two years ago. The bartenders are quite good, especially Brian and Wendy, and will go out of their way to explain the different beers and give you samples to try.
The food is absolutely outstanding. Although their menu is quite small, they have everything from up-scale pub food (chicken tenders ROCK), to fine-dining type of meals. There's something for everyone on here, despite how small of a selection there may be.
If you haven't visited yet, please do, Gary and Melissa are two of the best owners I've seen run a restaurant. They're always on the floor seating, cleaning, tapping, whatever they can do to help out. Perfect.
TIP: Stay past 11pm for the complimentary popcorn - it's outstanding - crackcorn, we call it.

I've been to Craft Ale House more than a few times now and I feel that it is time for a review. First impression upon walking in are extremely welcoming, the warm ambient lighting seems to fit in perfectly with the décor. The place isn't necessarily fancy; but at the same time this place is in no way a dive, it's just a great, clean, comfortable feeling beer bar. The bar itself is a pretty good size, and if the bar is full there is seating behind the bar with stools and a ledge to rest your beer. There are a few high top tables near the bar, and also there are plenty of tables for sitting down for lunch or dinner. The draft list is always rotating and usually is very well balanced in regards to different beer styles. The bottle list is quite extensive, and I believe is close to, if not already 300 bottles, mix and match six packs are available as well. The food is great, I have had several different offerings from the menu, and I have never been disappointed. I would recommend this place to anyone, so you should check it out.

Stopped by for lunch- a decent amount of customers were already lined up at the bar. The establishment is divided into a bar section (with some pub tables adjacent) and a dining section with a fair number of tables. Classy decor with nice dark wood, a fireplace, and just the right amount of lighting. The atmosphere was quite positive- friendly crowd. The owner (I presume) was frequently working around the bar and socializing with the customers. The beer selection was phenomenal: 16 taps with well-selected craft ales (eg- Troeg's Mad Elf, Lagunitas Brown Shugga). Single bottles were behind the bar- also a great selection. I also noticed another cooler with 6-packs, but was unable to discern the quality/quantity. Prices were extremely reasonable for the beers offered. The lunch menu was a little scarce, but understandable (recent start-up). Nonetheless, the chicken bites (on appetizer section) were tasty and well-proportioned. Service was on key and friendly. The bartender appeared eager to recommend a 'lighter' craft beer to an apparent craft beer newbie. Very pleased with my experience. I'm thrilled that we have a very promising beer bar in this area. Hope to return soon.

CAH is a great craft beer only place in what use to be the Limerick Deli. The complete renovations they did to the place were nothing short of incredible. Nice dark woodwork, a Hightop seating area as you walking in to your left. To your right, a couch line waiting/casual seating area with fireplace. Staight ahead, an L-shaped bar that seats around 15, and the rest of the place is table seating.
Great tap selection with most styles represented. almost aways a sour selection,a stout asaision etc, you get the point.
Staff is very knowlegible and attentive. The food is a definite improvement to the usual Pub-grub.
Overall one of my favorite suburban Philly stops.

Craft Ale House is a great place to sample some great beers or have an excellent dinner! Only real drawback is the limited seating! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Always an excellent selection on draft and a huge bottle list! Offers discounts on 6 packs to go!

I live about 45 minutes from this place, but it is well worth the drive! I work at the power plant just up the road, so I try to stop in frequently on the way home from work.
I haven't had a bad time there yet, and it's a great place to relax with some friends getting a chance to try some new beers.
The staff there is really friendly and helpful if you are having difficulty making a choice. They're always willing to make a suggestion. Gary (the owner) usually makes the rounds and chats up the customers. Just friendly people all around!
The beer menu changes on a weekly basis and provides a decent mix of local beers with some that are harder to find. The cooler has a decent selection of bottles and bombers and they offer decent discounts on mixed 6 or 4 packs. For those whose thing isn't beer, they allow bottles of wine with no corking fee (wifey LOVED that!).
The food is fantastic! I highly recommend the Pub Burger and the mussels!
I just with that this place was closer to my house. Oh well, better tell the wife we're moving....

This place by far is one of my favorite to visit and easily accessible for me as its right in my own "backyard". They have an extensive collection of hard to find and popular craft beers. For example, AleSmith IPA, Speedway Stout, an extensive collection of Dogfish Head, the list goes on. A favorite of mine is to stop and pick up a few bottles for the night. Also great food and great service. Food is pub style and fantastic. If in the area I highly recommend stopping in and grabbing a bite to eat and a few good beers.

We were extremely impressed with CAH. Love the simple, comfortable, unpretentious decor and ambience. It's not trying to be olde-timey-pubby like so many places.
Out of the pork, I had an outstanding burger done to a dead-on proper medium. My wife had the Funky Farmhouse mussels which she proclaimed among the best she's had. Excellent fries. Service was good but still (easily forgiven) getting the bugs out. The menu is small but I think Gordon Ramsey would appreciate that, as well as the fact that they do it so well. Hoping for another trip soon for dinner.
We were pleased with the diverse draft selection-We had Flying Fish Grand Cru, Breckenridge IPA, Dock Street Rye IPA, and hmm, I think a Russian River my wife had. Fun to windowshop for bottles as well. Congratulations and good luck to the owners and employees.

The first time I visited the Craft Ale House I enjoyed some great beer from the tap, but no food. So I waited to review until now.
We were greeted right away but one of the owners who found us a table quickly, even though they where pretty busy. Our waiter was prompt with the menus and willing to answer all of our questions about the food and tap selections. We enjoyed a Green Flash West Coast IPA with our order of fries that came with an outstanding dip. My brother had their fresh perogies which were accompanied by a generous "on the same plate" salad. My wife had their soup of the day, winter squash. I had their mussels with tomatoes and fennel in white beer. Outstanding. The mussels were perfect. We also had a basket of bread which I've been told is made with spent grains from Sly Fox. They have a great rotating tap list and an excellent selection of bottles. If you haven't been there, that you need to go. Check there blog for the latest taps.

I've been to this establishment no less than 7 times in the past 12 weeks...yes, the beer brings me in, but the food keeps me returning.
If you're looking to get in and out quickly, this is not your place. Service has always been friendly and knowledgable. You're never rushed here. The quality of the food for the price is exceptional. In my opinion, "one of the best burgers" within 50 miles. The owners, one in the front of the house, the other in the back always keep a watchful eye out for patrons and their needs.
This is Limericks best kept secret!!
