I've been going to Craft Ale House since late 2009 and consider myself to be a "regular" there. All things considered, I'm trying to be very unbiased...
CAH is a small beer bar, no wine, no liquor, though BYOW is encouraged and there is no corking fee. The atmosphere is dimly lit throughout, three high-top tables on your immediate left as you walk in, with the chalk beer board behind. The bar is small, directly next to the high-tops though there are stools behind the bar with a thin ledge to rest your drinks on. The rest is dining tables, two or three in the far back, and perhaps 8 or so on the side. Not too big at all.
The taps are always rotating and you can always expect a variety of styles. There is always one Nitro tap on, always one beer in the Sour-realm, and then a variety of dominantly US craft beer from all over, as well as the occasional imports (mostly Belgian or German). His (Gary) bottle selection tops over 400 different beers, last time I did an evaluation with him...I believe Summer 2010.
The service is great and has been from the beginning. Obviously, once you're a regular, your service is top-notch. Though, I've noticed their staff is much more educated, patient and friendly than from two years ago. The bartenders are quite good, especially Brian and Wendy, and will go out of their way to explain the different beers and give you samples to try.
The food is absolutely outstanding. Although their menu is quite small, they have everything from up-scale pub food (chicken tenders ROCK), to fine-dining type of meals. There's something for everyone on here, despite how small of a selection there may be.
If you haven't visited yet, please do, Gary and Melissa are two of the best owners I've seen run a restaurant. They're always on the floor seating, cleaning, tapping, whatever they can do to help out. Perfect.
TIP: Stay past 11pm for the complimentary popcorn - it's outstanding - crackcorn, we call it.

i don't live too far away, but have not visited yet because there are a few more places closer to me. but i was not disappointed. i went for a troegs event, so the place was crowded. that may be my only complaint; the dining area isn't too large. but it keeps the place quaint, i suppose. the beer selection was great (they had scratch 39 before the brewery did!) and the food was excellent. the BEST burger i've had for quite some time.
i will be going back to this place. most likely next week.

I've been to this establishment no less than 7 times in the past 12 weeks...yes, the beer brings me in, but the food keeps me returning.
If you're looking to get in and out quickly, this is not your place. Service has always been friendly and knowledgable. You're never rushed here. The quality of the food for the price is exceptional. In my opinion, "one of the best burgers" within 50 miles. The owners, one in the front of the house, the other in the back always keep a watchful eye out for patrons and their needs.
This is Limericks best kept secret!!

One of my favorite Ale Houses. This place has an excellent craft beer selection, along with one of the widest selections of bottled craft beers for purchase. They serve upscale pub food, as well as some dishes that you'd only see in fine restaurants. I'm told that all ingrediants are fresh, and that there's no freezer on the site.
Dining is casual w/an cozy dining area of only 10 or 12 tables. Seating is also available at the bar and adjacent to the bar on some high tables and chairs.
Appetizers, Soups, and Salads are all very creative and delicious. As others have mentioned, the kitchen can be slow but it's worth the waite.
The beers on tap are all craft brews. Usually a great selection that comes from areas throughout the US. The staff knows their stuff and is always happy to help w/a sample or advice.

The pros of this place is the selection is very good, but they have no hand-pumps and their draft selection is always very High abv beers. When I went here a few times in the Summer it was all High abv belgians and IPA's which I don't want to drink on a hot day.
This place really draws the Yuppie Middle-class crowd which is why they charge a fortune for their beers and food, and as far as food goes its nothing special; but it is very good--I will give them that.
As far as staff goes it's hit or miss. Sometimes you will get a nice friendly bartender but 9 times out of 10 they usually are very snobby and give you dirty looks if you drink your beer to fast. Obviously they don't understand the concept of working for tips.

This place is a little out of my way but I was in the area and wanted to give it a try. Very good draft list on the chalk board next to the bar. Unfortunately after waiting for some time along with another guy to get service at the bar I decided to try and get service in the restaurant side. After sitting there for some time reading Draft Magazine I finally got a waitresses attention who informed me she could not get me a beer...huh? Unfortunately I left this place without buying a beer. I applaud this place for its focus on quality beer but I hope quality service becomes a focus soon.

Transcribed from undated notes, but I was here with chefmonty and TheChauffeur1, so it had to be around mid-Spring 2009.
Located along Ridge Pike, the parking lot surrounded the building with an extensive patio on the left side. The entry was in the center of the side nearest the road, with a wide, glassed-in vestibule. Coming in, a few high tables and chairs were to the left, fronting a blackboard just before the laminated dark wood bar with a slight "S"-shape at its end. To the right of the bar, beginning just inside the door, was a short wooden wall fronted by stools on the bar side. On the other side of said wall was a mini lounge area with a small fireplace, a coffee table and several comfy chairs. Wooden benches lined the walls, fronted by standard restaurant tables and chairs. The lavs were all of the way aft on the right side. The kitchen was aft, in the centerline, with another set of benches and tables to the left of the kitchen door.
Food: We ate, but I neglected to note what I had. We were talking to one of the owners and he mentioned that part of their business philosophy is a commitment to local beers and produce. How many times have I preached the Buy Local, Eat/Drink Local mantra? That's a non sequitur, BTW.
Beers: The back bar included sixteen (16) constantly rotating taps along with shelves for glassware. Past the back bar were the numerous cooler doors, filled with over 200 bottles. My only complaint was that the beers were served too cold, which is a testament to my impatience and also a factor that they were working to tweak.

A fine establishment with an excellent craft selection and upscale pub food. A ten or twelve seat L-shaped bar with some high top table on the left. A half wall separates the bar from the open dining room, which probably seats 65 or so.
There are 16 taps, all craft, largely local and nicely diverse. The bottle list is almost uncountable, with great drink-in or take-out selections at relatively reasonable prices.
The menu is creative and generally well executed. The chicken tenders and pork sandwich are out of this world. Salads are beautiful, with lettuce that looks hand picked rather than poured out of a bag. The kitchen can be slow, and struggles at times with consistency but when it's on, there are few pubs with better food.
Fortunately, CAH has done away with many of the off-putting elements of the early dining experience ("No, you may not have your sauce on the side", "Your large table must place its order for only half the table at a time"). Service has become more knowledgeable too.

The second time visiting this establishment. The first time was last year and I remember it being much better. This time the service lacked, it was almost as if we were inconveniencing our server. My buddy and I both ordered burgers med-well, mine was burnt and his was raw. Surely an isolated incident. The services was much better the first time I was there.
The beer selection is great. I'd say about 10 taps of local, national and foreign craft selections. Five coolers with about six shelves on them of bottles to choose from to drink there or take with you. Also three other coolers of just 750ml bottles.
Single bottle prices aren't too high, if you get a mix six pack to go, they take 20% off the total. Definitely worth it.

combo beer bar and restaurant. was very crowded on a saturday night, waited almost an hour for a table to eat. some people in line for tables actually left. however, couches and beer from the bar made the wait fine for us. the place is fairly small with maybe 10? seats at bar, a few high top tables, and maybe 10-15 dinner tables. live acoustic music latter in the evening. mostly a middle age crowd.
quality and quantity of beer selection was great - both tap and bottle.
service was fine, as I didn't wait long for beers and our waitress for food was attentive.
the food was very tasty.
the pork sandwhich and fries was a huge portion, although the soup and salad my wife went with was on the small side. some beer prices I thought were a good deal, others high.
would definitely go back, just maybe during a less crowded time.
