A - Pours a deep, rich mahogany with a nice frothy half inch head that leaves a nice lace in its wake.
S - rich, malty sweetness with an accent of roasted malt. In the background is a slight floral hop. This beer smells nice.
T - taste is reminiscent of a porter. At first is the sweet but slightly roasted malt. There is a small hop bitterness towards the finish followed by a very small hint of alcohol.
M - a nice creamy, smoothness rounded out by a wee bit of "alcohol" warmth
D - very drinkable. Do I want to throw down a dozen? No! Could I? Yes. But this beer should be relished and savored and above all tasted while drinking it. Is this beer good for 3 or 4? Heck yes. This is a nice beer. I would recommend it.
$7.99 a six in a 12 ounce brown bottle

Presentation: Very simple label with very nice graphics and a great color scheme that really catches the eye. Front label gives a bit of brewery info. Back label gives a nice back story and description of the beer.
Appearance: I poured this from its 12oz bottle into a 16oz English Pint. An aggressive pour led to a 3 finger airy but tightly packed light tan foam head resting atop a deep reddish mahogany brown beer. Head retention and lacing were both excellent with retention lasting 6min before fading to a thick foam coating and ring.
Smell/Aroma: This has a slightly musty smell followed by a bit of sweet fruitiness that gives way to even more must. Slight hints of brown sugar can also be detected.
Flavor/Taste: Tastes starts out buttery with a bit of toasty maltiness that gives way to a nice hop bitterness. A toasted nuttiness comes through on the back end and sticks around to from a toasty aftertaste. Not bad at all.
MouthFeel/Drinkability: Medium bodied and smooth with a velvety mouthfeel. Very drinkable.
Overall/Comments: Not a bad beer overall although I was a bit thrown by the musty aroma. The flavor contained non of that must and proved to be very appealing. Classified as an English Strong Ale @ 7% ABV. Consumed 6/4/2013.

Had on tap at a local Italian restaurant. Paired with a damn good pizza. Very good combo that I highly recommend. Had always been hesitant to try this, as I viewed it as a hipster beer for a while. People around Lake Placid and surrounding used to always talk about Lake Placid Brewery, then it kinda faded. Hence the hipster opinion. Glad I finally tried it.
A - Dark and intimidating. Would make AAL lovers quiver with fear at the sight. Almost black, with a medium brown at the bottom. Average head that stuck around. Head was a tannish color.
S - Very pleasant. Lot's of malt and roasted characters. A choclately smell to a lesser extent, and perhaps a hint of smoke.
T - Damn good. All the smells were noticeable in the taste. The roast taste was much more prevelant here, in a very pleasant way. Could also notice some bitter chocolate/cocoa. A unique bitter sweet flavor created. As mentioned earlier, paired with a damn good pizza. Was a damn good combo. Tasted a lot like a bock, which I was fine with. Slight less "oomph" than a bock.
F - The only part I wasn't crazy about. This paired very well with food, but I'd see it as a beer you wouldn't want to drink a lot of on it's own. A little thicker than I prefer, and I could imagine it raising some heck in your stomach.
O - Very impressed, probably in my Top 15 beers now. Lot's of great taste without being too sweet or bitter. Goes great with food. Highly recommend.

On draft at The Lark, East Northport, NY.
Poured a deep net hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was very good retention and lacing.
The smell featured burnt caramel with a faint herbal hop.
The taste was upfront malts, with the same burnt caramel, buttered bread smoke and a lingering herbal hoppiness that checked the sweetness. Light nuttiness after the finish.
The mouthfeel was full with a dry finish.
Overall a very good malty ale. Highly flavorful.
