A pretty label an the bottle adds to this beer's appeal. Poured with a 2-finger head, and thick, coarse beige-tan foam, this ale was reddish-bronze and hazy, with coarse lacing. The smell was mostly hops, of the English variety, little malt evident. There are earthy tones beneath floral notes.

When comes time to taste, it's quite a bit more forward. The palate is attached by both sweetness from caramel malt and bitterness of an indistinct varitey. The mid palate has a bit of citrus and it finishes bitter but not quite clean. The mouthfeel is a bit cloying for all the sweetness. Carbonation is unexceptional. The bitter and sweet combination is not really to my liking. It's big in flavors but not complexity and short on hop aromas to offset the gray bitterness. To me it comes out as ordinary, more of an English style IPA. As it warms, the malt flavor comes through more noticeably, with a little biscuit flavor, and the floral hop flavor notes develops more, with a bit of spiciness. This is a beer that you definitely should allow to warm from fridge temperature to cellar temp before enjoying.

All in all, the drinkability isn't bad, but it's not something I'm likely to buy again. It's enjoyable, but not distinguished.

Dark amber color. Nice hop rich smell. Head is kind poor, but other than that it leaves a nice lace. Beautiful pour. Pretty malty for an ipa, but its nice. On the heavier side. Really solid beer from a small brewery that I have never had a bad beer from.

A - Looks of a fairly clear deep amber brown with a 1/4 inch of sticky head that seems to be fed with constant bubbles. Nice lacing.
S - Smells of floral and citrus hops, some bready malts, and a touch of pine.
T - Has a good hop bite, some metallic notes but not very offensive, and pine hops seem to cling to the palate after the finish. It's pretty balanced but not the greatest IPA.
M - Medium bodied, somewhat chewy, not bad.

Overall this is a pretty good IPA but it just seems middle of the road. Seems crafted well enough though.

Lake Placid Craft Brewing Company - Lake Placid India Pale Ale

Look - Pours hazy amber with a slight, soapy head. Good lacing.

Smell - Bittersweet English malts with a hoppy overlay. Caramel is present as well.

Taste - Bitter hops, bitter malts, then more hops. Dry and hoppy.

Mouthfeel - Rests bitter and chewy malts. Decent drinkability, a bit grainy here.

Overall - Not a bad brew. I can see how it would have been more of a Winter seasonal. The English hops and malt are a bit bitter for my palette. Could have used a slight bit more creaminess to offset the dry. Was too malty for an IPA.

A - Dark amber, one finger head with some sediment

S - Fresh pine, grapefruit as well as malty chocolate

T - Pretty dry from start to finish with a slight pucker and shorter linger than most IPAs. Chocolaty malt comes through but quickly gives way to citrusy hops. Pretty straight forward but solid IPA.

M- Medium mouthfeel with some sharp carbonation.

O - That little bit of malt is what won me over. A milder, but still in your face American Hop presence with a malty English IPA shout out. You really need to try this if you are in the North Country. You won't be disappointed.
