Poured from bottle into pint glass
Appearance – Pours a deep ruby almost brownish color with a two finger tan colored head. The head fades over a few minutes to give a light level of lacing.
Smell – The smell is heaviest of roasted malt. Mixed with this aroma are lighter notes of toffee and some coffee.
Taste – A sweeter roasted malt flavor meets the tongue. The sweetness is of toffee while the malt is of roasted barley. In the middle these flavors are met with mild dark fruit flavors. Toward the end some light pine hop notes enter the flavor and bitter it slightly with it helping to balance out some of the sweetness nicely.
Mouthfeel- The body of the beer was creamier then I would have expected with a carbonation level that is quite average. The creamier body really suits the roasted flavors quite well while the carbonation creates just the right amount of tingle for the sweet flavors.
Overall – Nothing too spectacular, but not a bad session amber.

I poured this new beer into my tumbler at 45 degrees. The beer poured a pretty amber color and a very nice tan head. The beer had a slight hop smell to it. It also had a slight hop taste to it which was no big surprise. Slightly malty taste and a little bit bitter at the end. Not bad though and I would buy again.

Appearance: pours a dark amber color with a two finger head. Some mild lace develops on the glass during the session.
Smell: caramel and some hints of nuts comes through to the nose.
Taste: caramel, bits of chocolate, roasted nuts, a bit of earthiness, and unripe plum. Bitterness is moderate.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Lightly crisp from start to finish. Short lasting aftertaste.
Overall: a nicely quaffable beer. There are better ambers out there but this one won't disappoint.

Pours a clear reddish brown with a finger and a half light tan head that fades quickly leaving moderate lacing.
Aroma malt, caramel and hints of citrus.
Taste starts slightly sweet with caramel, nuts and malt, then finishes with a slight citrus hop bitterness.
Mouth Feel was medium body, moderate carbonation, creamy smooth.
Overall a very nice refreshing ale, very enjoyable.

Stiff beige 2 finger head dissipated but coated the surface the entire time. Color is chestnut w/ auburn highlights. Smell is chocolate and caramel with very mild licorice and mild pine hop. Taste is malty caramel. Hops bitter but are lost to the malty goodness. Semi-sweet w/ a semi dry finish. Carb is sharp on the tongue and creamy in the throat. Medium bodied. No real surprises, but no real faults either.

Pours a robust amber with a smallish tan head. The head is does have good retention and leaves some spotty lacing. Average carbonation I'd say.
Aroma is mostly malts and they have a slight toffee scent. Bready and yeast are muted aromas too.
Taste finds the beer having a sweet toffee malt flavor. Slightly roasted almost and tastes pretty good. Hops are light letting the malts shine but I can detect ever so slight piney resin.
The beer drinks a medium creaminess on the palette. Intially smooth but turns a semi-bitter at the aftertaste which itself is rather clean.
Bought as par of a mixed 12 pak at Hannafords, I think it's called, in Lake Placid. I thought this beer to be well made and quite good.

A: Tawny dark copper verging on light brown. Clear with a very great amount of active bubbles. Large golden off-white cap of thick foam that really sticks around and leaves some alright lacing.
S: Nutty malts, toasty grain, bread crust, & steely caramel. Soft & vague touch of sweetness. Fairly clean and neutral American pub beer nose on the yeast side. Herbal, woodsy, slightly medicinal in a non-pine evergreen way. Okay strength. Gets a hint more bready as it warms.
T: Nutty & toasty malts up front with some more prominent bread crust and a touch of roast. Sweetness and caramel are there but diminished. Though there is a supporting backbone, the malts are largely overshadowed by the interesting hops in this brew. Bittering is only moderate, but the character makes up for it. The herbal largely fades and instead the focus is on the tree-like medicinal character – sort of spruce/hemlock. Reminds me a bit of the Anchor Steam “Our Special Ale,” but not as burly nor intense.
M: Medium body (perhaps just a smidge over) with carbonation just a tad over-matched. CO2 helps to lighten the beer. Lots of tannin texture and a strong woodsy hop drying.
D: Aptly named at least. Not quite your usual super easy drinking and somewhat anodyne brew pub amber. Definite character – woodsy beer for the big woods. Still drinks plenty alright, just it asks that you take notice of it at least in passing.
