Shared 330 ml bottle at local tasting. ABV is 8%. Black colour, moderate tan head. Aroma of lightly roasted malts, low quality soy sauce, molasses, thin coffee and dust. Dry flavour, liquorice, coffee and soy sauce.

11.2 oz bottle:
Pours black with an off-white head that thins and stays. Lacing sticks.
The smell is of chocolate, vanilla, dried dark fruits.
The taste is of chocolate nibs, vanilla, dark fruits and a touch of licorice. There is something sour, however, that throws it off.
The alcohol is well-covered and it is relatively smooth.
There is something of an artificial sourness about it that doesn't overwhelm, but detracts. I only paid a buck and change for it, but wouldn't get again.

Angkor Premium Extra Stout has a medium, beige head, and nearly black appearance, and some glass lacing. The aroma is of raisin, black cherry, dark bread crust, and cream. The flavor is similar, with the only bitterness coming from the slight acrid character. Mouthfeel is medium (somewhat like porter), and Angkor Premium Extra Stout finishes moderately dry.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque in the glass with a thin brown head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, molasses, malty cocoa, a hint of toffee. Flavor is tempered dark toasted malt with hints of char, dry cocoa; finishes with a pleasant light charry toasted malt and a little hops. Light to medium bodied with brisk carbonation. Actually not a bad foreign stout, somewhat subdued, but hits all the buttons. The malt could be beefier, but it is well toasted and has good flavor. The light note of cocoa fits well. Perhaps this brewery has upped its game, but this tastes better to me than previous reviews indicate. I'm not getting much tartness nor off flavors. Thinner and lighter bodied than a domestic or continental of this style, but I would have no problem getting this as my beer of choice given a typical Asian adjunct lager or this. Quite a bit better than expected and quite drinkable.

Poured from 33cL bottle into a glass.
Dark and opaque. It smells like chocolate and coffee. But it tastes disgusting. Quite foul. Dirt and roast and sour and death. This ranks among the few beers I've ever had to drain pour.

Bottle bought from a Siem Reap grocer's fridge and served 20 minutes later in a hotel water tumbler. It looks good, dark and leggy with a layer of sabayon head. Clean aroma, a bit milky, a bit of vanilla and sweet spice. Taste of a bit of roasted malt, sour cherry, cola, anise, a nice hazelnut thing, quite sweet but within the bounds of, shall we call it colonial milk stout. Feel is a bit thin, oily, not out of line for the style. Overall, a worthy dessert beer or change of pace from southeast Asian lagers.

Bottle from a store in Phnom Penh. From notes.
A - Poured black with a one finger creamy light mocha head. Spotty lace and film of retention.
S - Dark fruit comes out strong with some roast and a little cola.
T - Roasty, dark fruit was strong but roast backed it up more. Quite sweet cola element with some syrupy sweetness. Quite sweet the further you go. Becomes really sweet with a brown sugar and syrup sweetness.
M - Fairly good bitterness at first but then it just becomes really sweet. Very little carbonation. Medium to medium-full body. Needs carbonation and less sweetness in the finish.
O/D - A little tough. Really sweet and lacking depth. You can't ask too much from a Cambodian stout. OK stuff, but outside the market it wouldn't get noticed. I couldn't have too much but it's not a long haul beer.

From notes. Strange that this brewery makes two beers of the same style and same abv, but they do (the other being Black Panther). And in the land of adjunct lagers, both are welcome.
The pour from the can produces a dark brown, vaguely translucent liquid with creamy mocha head that stays a while and leaves some spotty lacing. Looks pretty good, overall, if a bit thin for a stout.
Mild roast and lightly malty sweet, with some licorice/molasses hints. Relatively faint overall, but balanced.
Taste is consistent with the nose, and is thin for its relative girth (8%). Some roast and malty sweetness, and a bit of hoppy bitterness. Just a bit of molasses. Not bad, but not great. Impressive for SE Asia.
Feels thinner than 8%. Bit of a carbonated bite, but with some creaminess following. Lower viscosity than expected. Finishes pretty clean.
It drinks easier than expected, and feels lighter than it is. These are not necessarily desirable characteristics in big beers. And it comes up short where it matters most, flavor. Despite standing head and shoulders above most other regional beers, it's at best an average stout. But if you are in the region, it's great having options other than adjunct lagers.
