I've been buying beer and wine from Trig's for nearly 12 years. Every time I visit this place from late spring through late summer I can't believe I am in northeastern Wisconsin (this grocery store and liquor department puts many big city establishments to shame). Plenty of Wisconsin micro's from Central Waters, Sprecher, New Glarus, Tyranena, Capital and many others. Bell's is represented nicely - the only other Michigan brewery I'd like to see is Founders. Quality is good - especially during the higher turnover of summer. Most of the beer is kept refrigerated and prices are reasonable, especially given that Eagle River is a tourist destination and Trig's could charge higher prices if they wanted to. This is a great beer store (if you're into wine, their selection is unreal).

Keep in mind this is the liquor section of a chain grocery store available throughout northern Wisconsin. In a very small town, that only sees a few people during summer.
Having said that, it has a relatively large selection, with a lot of different Wisconsin microbrews, some from Michigan, Illinois, Colorado and others. Belgians, germans and british have a few beers as well.
Prices are relatively high; service is very good if you overlook the overall lack of specific beer knowledge.
In the area, well worth a stop. The grocery store next door is excellent, by the way.

Took a trip up here with my buddy's for a fishing trip to get supplies at this grocery store. I must admit It has a sizable liquor section. We were able to find all of the Wisconsin beers that we so desired and were happy with the results. They seem to have just what we were looking for in the realm of New Glarus and the cheaper Leinenkugels. And the convenience of it being a grocery store we could do our shopping for food and quality beers in the same place. I'm sure the next trip we take up here will require a stop at Trig's.

Made a quick stop in here during a fishing excursion this past weekend. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much (the place seemed like a normal grocery store kinda setup on first glance), but what I found made an Illinoisan like me smile. More Wisconsin breweries in one spot than I've seen in a long time. Some I've never even heard of. The majority of the beer is cooled, though a relative handful o' sixers and such are elsewhere amongst the hordes of wines. Prices are very nice (if you ask me), though my inexperience with the area doesn't allow me much comparison. I'm glad we stopped in here, and I hope to revisit the next time we're fishing (I plan to have more beer money then).

Trigs in Eagle River (and Rhinelander as well, for that matter - I don't know about their Wausau or Minocqua locations) is about as solid a beer store as you can find in this neck of the woods. Beyond all the ubiquitous macros, they have a truly terrific selection of local craft brews from the upper midwest. I can't speak to too many specifics, since I was only in town for a couple weeks and was more than happy to reconnect with the various New Glarus beers that I grew up with before I moved away from WI, but I was truly amazed to find not only the full line of current NG releases, but also a couple of their retired Unplugged beers as well. I picked up a couple bottles of the Tripel and the Iced Barleywine, both of which had been out of production for a while; unfortunately, this showed with the tripel, as it had lost all of its carbonation and was a bit of a boozy mess, but the barleywine was just delicious. When I bought them the checkout lady advised me against drinking them ice cold, and seemed genuinely interested in respecting beer: cheers to her. While not anywhere close to the best beer store I've visited, I would recommend Trig's to anyone in the area who wants to pick up a few decent beers.

I am not the BA member that added this place to the list of "beerfly establishments" but I am the first to review it. It is a liqour store that is attached to the grocery store that bears the same name. The selection of beers and wines was pretty impressive and surpassed what I had anticipated. Virtually all of the beer was cold, but there were a few offerings in "case piles" and on shelves that were not. They had a wide range of Wisconsin beers and a pretty good haul from Michigan. They had most of your standard widely distributed craft brewers as well. They had a nice selection of single bottles of the "special" beers from places like New Glarus and a few others. There was just one lady working the register, but she was friendly and answered my question about the time that alcohol could be sold as it was getting late and I needed to run into the grocery part of the store first. I am not a local, so I needed a tutorial on the local blue laws. They can sell beer until midnight, but other liquour only until 9 PM was the answer. She commented about some of her customers that come in regularly to pick up various beers. There seemed to be a great attention to detail in the place. If you are in Eagle River and need to find good beer, you can find it here. If you can't find a beer that you like then you don't like beer. There are places around the country that have better selection and that cater to beer drinkers a little bit more, but Eagle River has a population of 1512 (if I recall the number on the sign correctly) and this store could easily fulfill the needs by itself. I am sure that there are other stores, but I wasn't in town for the beer so I didn't venture much further.
