A: Gold with an off pink tinge to it. Filtered and clear. White foam with low retention and small diameter bubbles. Medium carbonation.
S: Wheat with a sweetness following up the grain. Raspberry and strawberry with a hint of lemon.
T: Starts off with sweetness of raspberry, strawberry and a little blackberry. A little buttery biscuit note comes through with the sweetness. The sweetness fades to a minor sour crispness. Finishes slightly sweet and fruity with almost a bit of cloying saltiness.
M: Smooth and mellow. Thin light and clean. Medium-light aftertaste with raspberry and blackberry.
O: Good mellow hot day beer. Tastes a lot like purple haze, but with a little sourness, I like that. Though I liked this, I would love to see a bigger version of this with a little more sourness.

22 oz bottle as "Razz Wheat" and the alc content is increased to 5.3%. $4.49 from Grocery Outlet, Salem. Hazy amber coloured beer with a nice thick and frothy off white head. Hmm very unexpected the raspberry is very strong in the aroma and it has that earthy aspect that says REAL rasps not flavouring.Clean slightly sherbety nice. Exactly as the label says not too sweet and has a nice raspberry fresh tone..some underlying bitterness in the taste. Actually quite nice. OK on the palate not thin like most fruit beers..has some body . Actually really enjoyed this ..as good as McMens Ruby

Enjoyed at the Oregon Brewers Festival on July 23, 2009.
Seeing as how I didn't get a chance to try any of the other Vertigo beers during my visit to Oregon I was kind of disappointed that they'd decided to offer "Razz Wheat" at the festival. As it turned out, however, with some fairly hot weather, that worked out well as it was a refreshing change.
It's clearly brewed with real fruit, and I'm guessing that comes from Oregon Fruit, the same purveyor that I used to use to brew my raspberry wheat back on the east coast in the 90's.
The body has a bit of an amber cast, and hints of pink to its head. The head retention could be better, as could the lacing.
The aroma expresses a combination of malt and fruit. It's not clearly raspberry, nor is it clearly wheaty malt, but it's still welcoming.
The flavor is as you might expect, with a basic wheat ale infused/fermented with raspberry puree. The wheat is not really bold, and the raspberry doesn't particularly stand out as raspberry. I'm not sure you'd think it was any other fruit, but without the nudge of the name you might have to wonder about it for a bit. Still, it lends a subtle touch of tartness that helps to balance it as bitterness is kept to a minimum.
Overall, not a bad beer. It's clearly intended to satisfy the masses, so let them have it!

A terrific summer beer brewed with whole raspberries, Razz is clouded ochre with a red blush. Raspberry flavor is forward enough to define and entertain but not overpower, and no other elements intrude needlessly. Just a dry touch of grain. Casual and refreshing.
