I was in Lafayette for work, looking for a good beer place. I did find a decent beer store, but wasn't having any luck with a beer bar until my last night. The Green Room is located in the downtown area with lots of restaurants and pubs. The atmosphere is unfortunately smoky, but I was pleasantly surprised at how many beers they had in the bottle. They even had a bottle of Sake! The draft selection wasn't too bad either, with a number of taps reserved for Abita.
The service was good, but the bartenders didn't really know much about the different beers. I was a little surprised at how expensive a couple of the beers were, but I was glad that they could sell any of the bottles to take home.
A must stop for anyone in search of a good beer.

This place used to have the best selection in town a while back. They removed a cooler that they had specifically devoted to imports and craft brews that had some beers that were impossible to find anywhere else in town. Now, they serve the same old "dumbed down" beers with rarely ever updating their selection and yet somehow claim to have the best selection in town. The Tap Room most certainly has a larger and more interesting selection, but unfortunately they charge at least double the average price on any given beer.
The atmosphere as most have stated is extremely smokey, but the shuffleboard helps bring back some of the fun. It's pretty tough to get a drink most nights. Some of the bartenders aren't very attending and have a hard time realizing that you've been waiting 20 minutes and the guy next to you just walked up.
It's sadly the only place in town you can get decent beer at a normal price, with a fun atmosphere. That's what makes it popular.

This is the first bar in Lafayette where I don't have to point the specific beer I want because the bartender doesn't understand what I'm asking for. The selection is pretty much the best in town with 120-150 different types of bottles not many taps besides local brews. The ventilation is pretty bad, lots and lots of smokers. They have shuffle boards, pool table, great music and lots of art paintings, it's pretty fun. Love coming here with my buds. This place is definitely my first choice in Lafayette.

I usually stop by here when I am in Lafayette for work. It seems to have the best selection in town. The place is pretty much a dive bar with some good beers. A wood bar, concrete floor, and lots of smoke. There are some pool tables as well. It can get pretty busy during the weekends. The service is always attentive and enthusiastic. I also enjoy the beer list. It has all the beers with a good description of each. Very helpful.
On to the beer. They only have about 6-8 taps. Mostly Abita, but they have gotten a few others over the past year. Brooklyn Lager was on tap the last time I visited. The bottle selection is really good though. Lots of North Coast including the stout, Old Stock, and Pranqster. RJ Rockers is new, and a big surprise for me. They also have some Troegs every once in a while. Lots of Belgian, German, and British beers as well. Overall the bottle selection is great, the tap selection not so much. Pretty much the only bar that cares about their beer selection in town.

I've been going to Green Room as a sanctuary for decent beer in Downtown Lafayette for years now. Only in the last year or so did they add the extra draft taps.
They now have 6 -8, mostly Abita offerings including their Select line, as well as carrying the Sam Adams Winter Lager seasonal as of lately.
Their bottle selection is almost ridiculous for a bar, they most likely carry everything that is sold in a 12oz bottle by their distributor. There is several beers I've seen in their coolers that I've never seen anywhere else in the state. I've spent a good bit of time there and judging from what I've seen, I'd imagine a lot of that beer stays sitting in those coolers for a while. They definitely sell a lot of bottles of Bud.
Friday and Saturday nights can be a pain, as the place gets really crowded and smokey. They have about 10 pool tables, 1 foosball table and an internet jukebox, over all a decent place to hang out. I like to visit on weeknights during the 5-8 happy hour for $2.50 pints.
