Home of Big Daddy Brewing Company. This chain seafood joint turned out to be a decent stop. Certainly a worthy of a visit if you are in the area or passing by but in no way a destination beer stop.
In the front is a typical family style restaurant with booths on the left and large tables along the right side. In the back is a HUGE bar area with a ton of TV's and (as of mid-May 2009) smoking--blech! I assume with the recent restaurant smoking ban in VA this will be different the next time.
Beers were certainly drinkable and decent to good. I enjoyed the Dark Side Porter and a Hop Dog IPA. A total of six house beers were available, my minimum and therefore a 3 on selection. The house beer were certainly a good value at $3 per pint and they offer happy hour specials for even less!
Our server was pleasant and overall the service was adequate. Her perky attitude certainly didn't hurt.
I was most pleased with the food. Being a chain and inland I honestly wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. We hit it on two for one shrimp night and received 2 pounds of large shrimp for the price of one! At $15.95, with sides, I found this to be a bargain. In combination with a plate of a dozen raw Bayside oysters this was plenty for the two of us.
A decent place worth a visit if in the area. Certainly the food will prompt me to visit again.

Tried the Awful Arthurs on Colonial Street/Ave whatever...there was a definite strip mall restaurant atmosphere....so there were basic tables not much else. I did not go into the bar area because it was smoking...so perhaps there is better atomosphere in there. The quality was fine...the beer were good and the place was clean. The service was very good and attractive....Amber did a great job and had a great sence of Humor. The selection was good. There were six home brews available plus additional selections and bottles. The food was also very good...I had the jumbalaya...nice. Overall I thought the total package was reasonable. Worth a visit.

Nice little rest/brewpub in a stripmall in Roanoke VA... Front section is a resturant, with windows on the right side showing the brewery...the back half of the building is bar area. I had wings and the brew sampler...
They have 7 Brews on tap... My sampler was missing the Sunshine White Ale.... Instead I got a sample of the Scotch Ale (seasonal).... I'll review the brews with a little more detail under the beer section... They have the normal bottle stuff.... nothing exciting just the normal stuff.... The "Brew Master" comes from HomeBrewing and you can kind of tell.... All brews look a little unfiltered look(not a problem in my eye... love it unfiltered). My waiteress knew little about the beer so no help there, but was very nice. She did answer my questions about Growlers...(coming this summer). All the house brews are drinkable... none really jumped out for me but were not bad at all. The food is always good at AA's... The wings I have were pretty standard.
I will be back to try the one beer I missed... and maybe catch a show.... Not a bad place but not outstanding....Drop in and support local brewing...

I have visited AA's @ Towers Mall on several occasions since the inception of their small brewery. They usually have at least five to six items on tap ranging from American Pale, Brown Ale, IPA, Pilsner, Wheat, Scotch Ale and Porter. Flights are available. The brewer's experience comes from home brewing. While they do not have degrees in brewing,(they receive some form of coporate brewing support)they seem to me to be doing an adequate job. I have been generally pleased with AA's beer quality and selection but consistency with style / flavors is not always on spot. It is nice that there is something like this in the area and hopefully they will get better and better. The "happy hour" on Saturdays is dirt cheap. Beers by the pint are a little over $2.40. Food is reasonable but nothing to get excited over. Service can be slow if there is a crowd. On several occasions only one person is waiting tables in the afternoon. This is a blue collar restaurant / bar so expect to see a lot of Macros consumed even though they are making it fresh on premises.
